Rain

Good morning friends

The prompt word at

This week is Rain ... chosen for us by Kirsty

Something we in the UK are very familiar with all year round... It has been in excess this year in the southern part of the British Isles and wreaked so much devastation and heartbreak ...

We have been fortunate where I am ... But still the dark dismal days of winter rain gets to you

Cold and wet and miserable ... unless you make friends with it

Yet the summer rain...

It's often gentle pitter patter cleans the air and leaves behind it a scent of indescribable freshness ... It heightens the perfume of every flower and leaf ...

Of course heavy showers can pick their moments ... usually when the flowers are in bloom and the weight becomes too much for some of the more delicate beauties that they bow their heads and fall

But a walk in the summer rain in the UK can be so beautiful...

A favourite for me is when I am tucked up snuggly in bed and the rain is lashing against the window

It's like a lullaby ...

Rain ... much as we complain ... I wouldn't be without it

Hop over to the Blog to see what Rain means to our friends around the globe and come and link up this week at

Enjoy your day

Till soon

~ Ros ~

I could write a whole library of books on how much I love it. Though, I feel so sad for those people who have suffered with flooding.
I agree with the wonderful way you describe summer rain :)

Beautiful shots Ros, you have captured rain with all its different aspects. Can't say I really like the rain, although I am fully aware that we simply cannot do without it. How else would crops grow? Only wish it could be better divided, some parts of our globe get so much of it, whereas other parts nothing or just very little... Have a great Sunday! Ira x

Pretty pics Ros! I love the rain because here in the desert we get very little of it. We had a just a bit of it on Friday, the first in months leaving everything clean and smelling so fresh!

Beautiful photos Ros; as always! Yes summer rain can be refreshing and everything smells so fresh! What you wrote about the rain against the window; it made me smile. There is nothing so lovely as snuggling in your bed and hearing the rain; also on the roof:)

Have a lovely evening dearie! Hope all is well with you! Sending a big hug dear friend! XXXXXXX

Beautiful photos! I am sooo ready for Spring. We have had a long cold winter here in Iowa.

We have a tin roof so I like to hear it drum on that. Very relaxing. :-) There's nothing like that fresh smell after a downpour either. Lovely pics Ros. Hugs!

That was so poetic and the photos are incredible, Ros! I am sorry for all the damage that rain can cause, but I love it, too, like you. Hugs, Darnell (I'm so glad your kitty came back!!)

Your lovely plants make me want Spring and gives me hope we might see it someday!! I love the rain at night, a gentle one that can make everything fresh and clean...but I think right now if we had it, we might be in trouble as our snow is so high it would be flooding...always a worry it seems. I hope all is well my friend...it seems you are busy...hope the kitty is doing well!!

A great post - I love the stories that you weave around your photographs! For me personally, rain is best on a night in the summer, when you lie in bed and the window is open (of course, it can only be a rather light rain). That really is like a lullaby.
