Books

Hello and good morning friends

It's time for a new prompt over at

Where photos tell the stories and captured memories are shared

I got to choose the prompt this week and it's
Books

I love books...I have lots of the box kind like above that house some of the many little books albums I make

I have old books, the pages worn and yellow like this one

Notice the price on there? 3/6 Three shillings and sixpence... And it's full of funny and strange little poems

But it's special because I was awarded this more than 50 years ago for the art of speaking verse
This is another one I was awarded at church

again over 50 years ago, I was so thrilled taking these home

I know many people use Kindle but to me there is nothing like a real book and once quite by chance I came across this book that was a revelation.....

Why? Because inside was a family tree... MY family tree...On my father's side

Evelyn Beatrice Bartley was my Aunt and my Father's mother ...Having been put in an orphanage when they were aged 9 and 11... Neither knew their full background until I found this - It even had photos

I was able to contact the author and find family living in Australia ...

I know many of you fear altering a book but to me even the old discarded and unwanted can be given a new lease of life

Go see what everyone else is sharing up on the blog and link up with us at

Have a lovely day

Oh my... sweetie you have a stunning blog post here, full with gorgeousness! Your book arts are stunning. And those beautiful old books... sigh... How wonderful that you found your family tree! Wonderful story too. I love genealogy. I have found a lot of our ancestors and their intriguing stories and photos/paintings/images. Some of them in books too, like you. Isn't that just an amazing find, so thrilling when it happens? Hugs and happy weekend, xx

Fabulous post Ros...wow, how wonderful you have the book with some family history in it...like it was meant to be! I have a Kindle Fire for 2 years now, but you know what I haven't once used it to read a book on as like you, I too love to read a 'real' book and have way too many in my possession! Great post my friend!

I can understand your excitement when you found your own family tree! I have done genealogy research and found relatives in the US. Very pretty photos.

I do love reading books, too! I've read only one book on my Ipad...just isn't the same. Your post was very interesting, Ros. What an amazing find it must have been to see your family history in a book! And, your project from the book pages is gorgeous! Take care and have a lovely weekend!
