Sunflower

Good morning!
I hope your week is going well...
The heatwave seems to be over here now and cooler temperatures are making it much more comfortable..

Today's card is for CAS Watercolour Challenge... I was fortunate enough to win last months challenge with the watercolour splash technique and this month's challenge is Sunflower

We have a field just near our house and this year there are row upon row of sunflowers! They look so beautiful and in all the years I have lived here that field has never had a flower on it!

Unfortunately I only have one stamp that resembles a sunflower, it's actually a large daisy by Stampendous so use your imagination haha!

I first stamped and embossed the image using my own mix of gold and silver embossing powder
then pulled out my Zigs to loosely paint it with.
Normally I reach for my Gansai Tambi paints or distress inks when painting and the poor Zigs have just been left on the shelf... Now I'm itching to use them again

I love the yellow/orange colour I got using the Zigs - It just looked like sunshine so I die cut the word 'sunshine' from the centre and inlaid a second white die cut into the space.

So that's my sunflower... sort of

Enjoy your day and thanks so much for stopping by

I think for a daisy this looks amazingly like a sunflower Roz and beautifully coloured, and love your corner sentiment and so elegant on the stitched mat. x

Fabulous use of the stamp, so clever to turn it into a sunflower, I would never of guessed it was a daisy before...beautiful card Ros! To be very humid her today but not as hot...I am not complaining as it is much better then snow flying and just where does out time go, the days and months seem to fly by...how I wish I had the energy I once had...oh well that is life as they say...take care my friend!

A sunflower it is Ros and a glorious one at that. Great colouring with those zigs and the mix of embossing powders give it a wonderful shine and vibrancy. The inlaying of the die cut sentiment sets off your beautiful card to perfection. Sunshine on a card and it's stunning x. The sunflower field near your home must look amazing too x.

The mix of embossing powders gives a lovely warmth to the heat embossing image outline Ros. Great watercolouring with your zigs!! They are such gorgeous, clean, bright colours and perfect for watercolouring a sunflower. Wonderful design with the inlaid sentiment. Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Watercolour! xx

Gorgeous faux Sunflower, Ros. I am a real fan of Zigs too and love how you colored your petals and leaves. What a cool idea to inlay your sentiment in the center of your flower and add the corner detail. The stitching is the perfect framing for your CAS design. TFS and joining us at CAS Mix Up, my friend. Hugs...

If you hadn't mentioned it I would have taken it for a sunflower, no questions asked. It's a gorgeous card and I love the inlaid "Sunshine". I am very relieved the temperatures have dropped 15° here - we had 40° on Wednesday and work (or any activity whatsoever, really) was just unbearable.
