Birthday Girl

Hi there....Are you well?
I haven't had any inclination to make cards lately, instead I've started sewing again and so far have made 3 tops, 2 pairs of pants, a maxi skirt and a sundress... Can you tell that we're off on holiday soon Lol!
I took the plunge and booked us a week in Spain right by the beach - I so need a break.
My GP has given me some knock out tablets to take for the flight in the hope I won't struggle with RLS so fingers crossed....
Mojo or not, I had to make a card today... It's a dear friends' birthday this week - A big one, and I was under strict instructions not to put her age on the card Lol!

I pulled out all those left over painted pieces I hoard and stamped embossed and die cut till I got something I was happy with

And made the inside a pop up

...Of dancing butterflies suspended on strips of acetate

It took me hours to make and I can't see my mojo returning anytime soon either.
Ah well... I'll keep on sewing

Have yourselves a lovely evening/day

~ Ros ~

Mojo or not Ros...this is FABULOUS! I love it (my colours though). I love the pop up in the centre and I am sure your friend will be very thrilled with it. I can imagine why it took hours, but think of the love you have put into it.Sounds like you have been very busy on the sewing front...enjoy your break when it happens. (By the way what is RLS?) xx

I sure wish it was my birthday Ros...this card is incredible!! The front is absolutely GORGEOUS, but the inside is STUNNING!! Your friend will definitely treasure this card! And yay to you for sewing your own clothes! I used to sew all the time when our 3 girls were growing up, but haven't really touched my machine in years other than to repair or hem...one of these days!! :0)

Well Ros, even if you think your mojo is not working this is a fantastic card and cannot fail to be loved by your friend in that beautiful mix of watercolours and love the front with the pretty flower and delicate butterfly, and a great embossed sentiment, and as for the inside...wow! That pop up so full of prettily die cut elements and then the butterflies on pieces of acetate too. A stunning work of art. Glad you have arranged a lovely week away in Spain, and busy making all those clothes to take. I'm sure we would all love to see them. You are certainly multi talented. x

Most beautiful background on the front and it's incredible how beautiful your grass and butterflies look on the inside, too. You set your mind to it and you sure did make a special card for your friend! I love that little fence and the colors, and the gold embossed vellum butterfly on the front. Your thoughts have turned to other things for the time being and you just have to go with the flow. I'm glad you're enjoying your sewing and looking forward to a wonderful trip. I used to sew a lot of my own clothes, plus my son's jammies, and cute craft items. Now I only sew on my cards. Again, Ros, trace minerals -- I haven't had RLS since the second day I started taking them.

What a beautiful birthday card, Ros. Sorry I haven't been around. I am just not spending as much time at the computer these days...time gets away from me. Have a wonderful weekend and vacation!

I miss your gorgeous and always inspiring works of card art, Ros, but as a former sewer, I know how satisfying that can be! Especially if you're making new things for a week on the beach in Spain! Whoot! As long as you are doing something that makes you happy and gives you some ME time, then I'm happy! And speaking of happy, your friend is going to be over the heady moon with this scrumptious birthday card! You've used my fave colors again and oh my gosh, that inside pop up just took my breath away! PLEASE don't be gone from Blogland too long! (You can model your new clothes for us!)! Hugs, Darnell

Oh wow! I thought it was a pretty card until I saw the inside - it's an amazing card!
I can't believe you've managed to do all that sewing! I'm a big fan of the Great British Sewing Bee TV programme , but pretty rubbish (and slow) at sewing myself.

The mojo is right there, just redirected, I suppose! You created a real masterpiece, the pop-up scene and the butterflies in particular are such beauties. Have a wonderful time in Spain - it will certainly do you good!

I was thinking what a stunning card you made while looking at the pictures of the card front. The gorgeous watercolor panel, the shiny heat-embossed sentiment, and the elegant butterfly with a vellum wing. Then WOW moment came. The pop-up spring scene inside is amazing, Ros! I love the gorgeous colors of the butterflies & grass, the butterfly's fluttering mechanism using acetate, and the pretty white picket fence!
And a trip to Spain for a week!? How exciting!

You made this with no mojo?! Now that is just not fair--haha! A very special card worthy of a special big birthday! Glad to hear you'll soon be on vacation, Ros--hope the weather cooperates this time! So I've done a little bit of cross stitch while you've made a new wardrobe--wowzer! Sure wish we didn't live across the world from each other, but I'm grateful we can keep in touch via the computer.

Oh Ros! I had no idea what was waiting on the inside of that card. What a delight. I wish I could sew clothing. I'm pretty much a straight line sewing kinda gal. LOL Hope you enjoy more sewing AND your upcoming vacay.

Oh Ros, this is beautiful, both outside and inside. Gorgeous colours, the inside is amazing, love how you did this. It's just all so perfect for your friends 'special' birthday! Even without your mojo, you still have what it takes! Spain sounds so lovely, I was there back in the 70's, can still remember parts of our trip. I love sewing as well, I have sewed most of my life, but not so much anymore, just the occasional item here and there. Card making seems to have taken over most of my crafting - (sewing, cross stitch, knitting etc). Thanks for sharing today Ros. Have you tried Trace Minerals for RLS- it works for me. Hugs,
