Tree of Books...

It's week 22 at the City Crafter Challenge Blog and Kirsty has set us a brilliant challenge - The city is Singapore the theme "Tree of Books" and this is the inspirational picture ...

Beautiful isn't it? The challenge is to make a card or project with an image of either tree/trees or book/books, projects can also be a bookmark, a book cover, a brag book etc...)

Our sponsor this week is The Stamping Boutique and we each got to use one of the digital stamps on our project this week. Our Guest Designer is Lenet Mos an amazingly talented lady ... have a look at her fabulous work ...
On to my project ...
As my Practical Philosophy class will be starting a new term soon ... I decided that I would make a new notebook ...

The background paper is from an oriental pack that I have had for a long time so it came in handy this week ... The books is the digital stamp from The Stamping Boutique which I 'painted' in PSE ... The tree is from a stamp that I bought a while ago on Ebay and the rest is from my stash....

There are even stickles on my tree to try and replicate the glowing books on the inspirational picture ...
I'm really looking forward to seeing what you come up with this week ... please abide by the rules of the challenge to be eligible to win ....
Have a lovely day

Pretty Pins

Hi there ...
It's another rainy a day here and I have done my Monday morning stint at Pilates ... and then I came home to a lovely little package from sweet June Lanum ... Look at these lovely handmade pins ...

Aren't they just the cutest?? and all sweetly wrapped in this little bag too ... She's one clever and very kind lady as well as a good friend. Now some of you may not know that June has not been too well .. I'm sure she won't mind me telling you that she has been back to the hospital and is trying to take it a bit easy for a while ... so I know she would be delighted if you popped over to her blog and left her some get well wishes.
"Thank you ever so much June ... we love you!"
I also have a little card to share with you ... this is one of those cards that starts off as 'something' then goes wrong ... so I leave it to the side until I am ready to revisit it. I never throw things away ... there is always some sort of rescue waiting .... Do you have things like that?

And so my obsession with birds and all things postal continues ... loving these WaltzingMouse stamps too ... just ordered my 3rd set .... If only Claire did MF goodies too I'd think I'd died and gone to heaven .... (sigh)

Till soon

Caardvark Challenge ...

Hi ...
Hope all is well with you and you are enjoying your weekend ... My Sunday started early - my husband left for his golf trip which very nearly got called off last night ... One of their group had a bad fall and had to go to the A&E ... thankfully he is not too bad and able to travel (not sure about golfing though) ... which is a relief for me as well ... (if you'd have seen my hubby's face last night - you'd understand) ... So it was all smiles as I dropped him off this morning ...
That meant I got the chance to make a little card for the Caarvarks challenge which finishes tonight .. It's a sketch challenge sponsored by the very talented Tiffany of Tiffany Doodles  ... (great digital stamps)... There are 2 sketches to choose from and I chose this one ...

Here's my card ...

I'm always tempted to add buttons and ribbons and lace and more! But I guess with a sketch challenge you kind of have to use a little restraint just so as you can identify the sketch ... (she says adding a bow) .. and I did use some glitter on my tissue paper flower ...

Well ... it does say "Treat" ...

Till soon

A little bit of lilac ..

Hello .. Just popping in with a couple of cards to share ...

This one has a little tag so I can enter it in the Shabby Tea Room challenge this week ... It's been ages since I got to enter ... The DT over at TSTR have done some fabulous creations ... and Tracey Clark this weeks' GD has done an amazing card .. she makes such gorgeous creations!

I used one of my treasured doilies from Lynnda ... I just love them ... and had to glitter it all up ... This image reminds me of being a little girl ... and of my Mum ..
Next up is a Thankyou card ...

I used my spellbinder dies to cut the card edge ... a bit of glitter on the chipboard frame ... embellies and some organza .... here's a close up of the pretty organza ..

My hubby is off to watch the football match this afternoon and then leaves tomorrow for a golfing holiday in France ... so I get to craft to my hearts content ...

Have a lovely weekend
till soon

Blackbird

A couple of things today ... I finally got to finish a project for the new challenge over at The Play Date Cafe ... a colour splash challenge ... This means black and white with a splash of the colour given ( this week there is a choice of 3 splash colours , copper, gold or pink). This is the beautiful inspirational picture ...

The DT have done some fabulous creations .. pop over and take a look ...

I went with the gold ... I wasn't sure what I was going to do and then a light went on ... literally!

I came up with a lamp ... I got to use my Tim Holtz  birdcage die for the first time and Love it! I went with a blackbird ... black and white vellum, black cardstock (to make the base) and gold trim using my spellbinders and mirri card ...

This is the light that goes inside ... It is one of those 'click and stick' lights that are not expensive and use a battery ... However I also can fit a glass jar inside should I want to use a tea light ...
It wasn't easy to photograph the lamp with the light on so excuse the next picture ... a bit blurry but just so you can see ...

I added some black crystals and some clear gems, a little flower and some brads ... Not a masterpiece but I had fun making it ...

Club night went well though we were missing a few people ... thought you might like to see a couple of pictures ...

Me (5th from L) with some of my group, my friend Lynn (3rd from R) and some support workers ..

Working away ...

And these are masterpieces!

Have a lovely day ...
Till soon
