In My Pocket Challenge

Hi there ... I am back this morning with my City Crafter Challenge post ... where I am hosting this week and we have a very talented Guest Designer ... Monica Skadsem from Norway... If you are into Shabby Chic .. you really need to visit her blog and see the fabulous creations she's made for this week's challenge ... it's AWESOME!!
The challenge I have set is to create a card, tag or project which includes some sort of pocket ... I was inspired by these lovely creations from Recycled Rita ... you can find her post of these HERE

Aren't they just the prettiest toilet rolls ever? I've been saving my toilet rolls too just so I can make some of these ... probably with my group ...
I decided to go for a card as I so wanted to use my new things from PTI ... and this is what I came up with

This is a double pocket card so I could get two pretty tags in ... I made the pockets by just folding a piece of double sided TH paper that was cut to about 8/12" X 11" ... then I stitched it to my card ...

This is how it looks without the tags in

... and these are my pretty stamped tags ...

For the buttons .. I first adhered my paper to CS and then cut them ... just to make them thicker ... and the little pin that you see on my card is from Stella ...

I hope you will join us ... I love seeing your creations  ... please take a minute to visit the rest of the DT and see their Gorgeous creations too ...

See you later!

Two Challenges ...

Good morning to you all ... I am still not feeling too well and it seems that my Pilates teacher is also sick so class is cancelled ... I couldn't have made it anyway but really hate letting anyone down
So I have been able to sit in my little room here and do a couple of things ... first up is a card for this weeks challenge at CR84FN ... this is the colour inspiration picture ...

I have to say that I am so glad I did this challenge ... these are not normally colours I would immediately reach for but when I put them together ... I was amazed at how much I liked them ... more than I could imagine ... so here's my take ...

It's like vitamin C for the soul! (Lol)
I had all these things in my stash ... just waiting to be picked for this challenge .. I have no idea where the papers are from but the one with the little butterfly was from Lynnda and the buttons are from The Ribbon Girl ...

So what do you think?

2nd Challenge

I  have a note book to share which I made for the challenge at Lilybean's Paperie which is based on another beautiful picture courtesy of the incredible Leslie at A Creative Mint ...

How could I not make my own notebook ... based on this? So here we are ...

A mixture of digital (Vintage Findings by Jen Allyson) printed directly onto cardstock with some Tim Holtz (grey paper) ... a scrap of MF paper and some from my stash ...

I distressed the small papers too ... the white flower I crocheted and added a tiny cream one to it ... butterflies and lace from my stash too

Guess I need to do a pen to go with it now ...

I hope you have a lovely day ... It's still freezing here ... (minus 4C tonight ... Brrr)

Till soon

Jingle Belles ... and a little bit of history

Hi there ... I hope you are all well ... I'm not too good today ... feeling rough ... I think I may be coming down with something ... But I wanted to get my card done for this weeks Jingle Belles  ... the theme being "Home for the holidays" ... Ok, so a little history for you
This city of Liverpool is not only famous for The Beatles ... but we were a vast shipping port ... Once the dockyards were bustling ... the heart of the city ... with trade ships and huge liners coming and going ... many of these liners carried thousands of people across the great Atlantic Ocean  to begin new lives in the USA ...
Today the ships have all gone ... But the buildings that greeted the ships still remain and none is more famous than The Liver Buildings (pronounced Lie ..ver) ... and standing proud on the top of this building are the 2 famous Liver Birds ... (actually there are 4 in the city ... but the 2 most known are these) ..

This is a close up of one of the birds

These two birds face away from each other ... legend says that one is female and one is male and if they were to face each other they may mate and fly away ... and then Liverpool would no longer exist ...
It is also said that one faces out to sea to watch for the seafarers and protect them ... whilst the other looks to the city ... protecting all who live here ....
So ... my card ... well this is "my home" ... where the Liver Birds greet us and watch over us so I kept this weeks card CAS with my bird as the centrepiece ...

That pretty background stamp was a gift from Chriss Blagrave  (who sadly has just lost her Mom) ... thinking of you Chriss ...

... and the little bell represents the two magnificent cathedrals we have here ... the Anglican and the Catholic ...

So there we are ... my "home' card ...

The Shabby Tea Room Challenge

It's a beautiful sunny day here ... even though it is cold I am grateful for the sunshine ... and I have a card I made for this weeks challenge at  The Shabby Tea Room  "Classical Elegance" being the theme and the colours are Red, White (or Cream ) and Black here's the inspirational photograph ...

It's been ages since I had the time to enter a card at The Shabby Tea Room ... one of my favourite blogs ... and I've missed being there ...
I had so many ideas going around in my head for this challenge but finally I came up with this ...

I had to photograph this on the red background  as I was losing the champagne coloured tulle and the card just didn't look right against the white I usually use ...
The papers are all SU (Love Letter) ... everything else is from my stash ...

And that cute image? ... that's from a little card I had ...

Have a lovely day ...
