City Crafter Postcards

Hello and Good Morning ...

This week at City Crafter Sweet Linda Robinson is our host and she is challenging us to make a Postcard ... another first for me and I knew just what I wanted to do ...

When I was a little girl I had a cousin ... Marcelle ... she was beautiful, vivacious and everyone who ever met her fell in love with her ... She was older than me by about 5/6years and lived a very different life from me in London ... and whilst a teenager she went off to Spain ... She sent me a postcard of a Spanish dancer
The dress was made of layer upon layer of frills in ribbon and covered in sequins ... I thought it was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen and for many years it was a treasured possession ... I lost my cousin 29years ago ... and I never forgot that postcard or her inner and outer beauty ...
My Postcard is in remembrance ... done in my style

With the exception of the dress ... everything here is digital

... and just to show you the reverse ...

I created the wording in Photoshop and added stamp graphics

So ... do you have a Postcard memory? ... why not join us at CCCB this week and share it?
Our wonderful Guest Designer this week is ... Karen Letchworth ... I love her work ... and our sponsor this week is Catherine Pooler of Stamp Nation ... Catherine is offering a 2 week membership to Stamp Nation FREE to our winner ... Play Date Cafe Challenge

Hello ...
I hope you are well ...
It's school half term here and that means I have had a week off from both Thursday Club and my Philosophy class ... and I have spent a lot of time alone ... So for the first time in a long time I have had the opportunity to make a card for the Play Date Cafe challenge based on this lovely inspiration photo

I really enjoy a latte ... and I love to work with soft neutral colours
This is my take

a few digital papers ... some prima flowers and a handmade flower ...

... ribbon and lace from my stash and a sweet delicate butterfly ...

Wishing you a lovely weekend ... Thanks for stopping by

Jingle Belles and Autumn

Hello ...
Thank you all so much for your lovely comments on the magical box ... I'm so happy that you liked it ...
I have finally got my card done for this weeks' challenge at Jingle Belles Rock - This week the theme is "Softly" falling snow ... use something on your card that you interpret as soft ... so straight onto my card

Well I had to use 'snow' ... (flower soft with a topping of glitter) on my embossed image

and some soft felt snowflakes ... a cosy crochet heart and some delicate tulle

... and of course some white Broderie Anglaise lace ... these all signify 'soft' for me and I now have 43 cards ready for Christmas

... But here it is very much Autumnal ...

The trees are shedding leaves and the colours are changing but there is some confusion with the plants

... some appear to be blooming again ... unsure if the sunshine and the cool mornings signifies spring

even the "fox and cubs" has put in a second appearance ... not wanting to miss out

... But the Holly bush is in no doubt ...

... Nor the Firethorne ...

... and the Sedum has already donned her rich wine coloured gown ...

... and as the clocks go forward this weekend ... even Autumn will be saying goodbye

Enjoy your day ...

City Crafters "Magical Box"

Hello ...
It's Tuesday and once again the start of  new challenge at City Crafter and this week sweet Kirsty is hosting for us and has asked that we make a Magical Box ...
Now I have to confess that when I first got the brief I was worried ... Heck these things are so little and fiddly I thought ... Yet I've seen so many of you clever people make them ... So I did what any wise person would do ... I left it ... ha! ha!
And then when I was incapacitated with my back problem ... I had time to sit a while and think about it ... and as it happened I had just the template I needed to do this ... So with a clear head and no panicking ... it came together really easily ....
Warning ..... There are a lot of pictures here ...

The whole box measures around 6.5 cm square ...

Before cutting it out I printed both sides of my CS with digital papers
Just a flower, lace and some sweet little dangles to decorate...
Take of the lid

"Voila!"
... and you can see that there is another tiny box nestled inside 4 layers ...

Every layer is decorated simply with contrasting card and just some 3D stickers from my stash

Hearts, flowers, words of love ...

... Layered until you get to the tiny box ...

... That holds "the key to my heart" ...
Remove the lid

And there is the heart

So ... are you going to give it a go? ... I really hope so ...
Go visit the blog and take in all the amazing creations from the rest of the DT and this weeks lovely and very talented Guest Designer ... Lynn Miller

See you there ...
Have a great day!

Wall Art and Birds

Hello!

I'm finding inspiration again and delving through papers, flowers and chipboard that have been hoarded for far too long ... Have you visited Pixie Dust Paperie? Ever bought one of their kits? 'Cos if you have ... you'll know what I mean ... I had a couple of full sheets of paper left over from A Midsummer nights dream kit ... one of which in particular I just loved to look at and couldn't bear to cut ... but finally I did ... it seemed fitting for the new challenge at Pixie Dust Paperie which is to create something with a bird on
And as it is my friend Dianne's birthday ... I not only created a card for her but also a wall hanging which fits the new challenge at LESSology ...
This is my wall art ...

The chipboard bird and birdhouse are painted with TH distress stains and I also used some liquid pearls
... If you follow LESSology you will know that every project must have an up-cycled item ... But I wonder if you can guess which is my up-cycled item? Well, actually there are 2 here ...
First off is the heart ...

... Which was an earring ... and my second up-cycled item is the copper butterfly ... which was cut from one of these ...

Yep, plant tags ... I knew they would come in handy one day!
And just to show you that this is on canvass ...

My card also features a bird ...

... cut from one of the scraps I had left from the Pixie Dust kit ...
And here is the complete set

So if you like up-cycling ... and birds ... why not join in with these challenges ... either way both blogs are well worth a visit ... I promise you that there is so much inspiration to be had ...

I'm off to Lincoln tomorrow to visit my Aunt ... so I wish you all  a wonderful day

Take care
