Jingle Belles ...Sketch challenge

This week's challenge at Jingle Belles is to use a sketch by Amy Tsuruta ...

This sketch

Well I made my card ... sort of based on the sketch ... and then realised that I'd put the sentiment in the wrong place ... Duh! I didn't look properly ... So I made another card that does resemble the sketch ...

Nothing too fancy ... just layered papers and a pretty snowflake

This is the one that I did first ... not quite a representation of the sketch though ...

... but at least I have an extra card in my box

Thing is ... I was looking at my Easter egg ... and now it's all eaten (I know!) well maybe there will be no more distractions ...
Hope you had a lovely day ... I did!

See you tomorrow for the City Crafter challenge

Pixie Dust Paperie April Challenge

HAPPY EASTER!!

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend ...

The new challenge at Pixie Dust Paperie has begun ... and this month Kirsty has picked a fabulous  challenge -
Create a project related to a city  (e.g. London, Rome, Paris,  New york ... Any city in the world!)
The challenge title is "Fly Away With Me!!"

Everyday this week you will be able to see the projects from our design team ...

For me I chose London ... the place I spent a lot of my childhood ... a place full of happy memories for me ..... and what do you think of when you think of travel? A suitcase or a trunk maybe?
Here's my 'well travelled' and 'shabby' little trunk...

I used papers from PaperMania's  Portobello Road and some travel stamps from Crafty Individuals and Elin's Huis

I started by making to boxes exactly the same size from card stock - covered them inside and out with paper and added an extra piece at the back to hinge them together (using brads) ...

... used a little more CS with a key hole for the front and some velcro to fasten ... The corners are made from circles cut in  pewter mirri board (score the circle into 4 and remove 1/4 of the circle to get the fold) ... All it needed then was a handle made again from card stock
Take a peek inside

Some English Afternoon Tea and a shabby heart

I scanned into my computer some of the Portobello Road paper and printed it on to fabric to make the heart

Just a few embellishments ... red white and blue and a little crown too ... As our Queen celebrates her Diamond Jubilee this year

... and there we have it ... my little London gift set!

Well I'm off to find some chocolate ... seeing as how it's Easter (like I need an excuse..Lol!)
I do hope you will be inspired to play along at Pixie  this month ... and I MUST mention that there are some FANTASTIC offers on at the moment ... hop over to the blog to see all the details ... I'd really hate for you to miss out!

Have a wonderful day ... Thanks for stopping by

Play Date Cafe Challenge

Hi there ...
I saw the beautiful colour combination for this week's challenge at The Play Date Cafe

... and it just so happened that I had been playing around with these colours this week for some upcoming DT projects and on my work table were some of the scraps ... I also needed to make a "Thank You" card ... So this challenge was the perfect opportunity to use up my scraps to make this card

I love to mix papers from different suppliers and this is definitely a mix ...

The background paper is from PaperMania ... an old range really ... called Rose Garden ...
The grey is from Echo Park and the blue mist coloured paper is from Grace Taylor

I love this colour palette and yet if it hadn't been for the challenge I probably wouldn't have put them all together ... Thanks Playdate!

May you have a blessed Easter weekend ...

Till soon

Altered Book ..

Whoa it's cold here once again ... where did Spring go??
It's the Easter holidays here and the weather always seems to go cold when the children are off school ...

I did my talk and a 'make and take' at the Womens group on Monday ... It seemed to go well and they were all pleased with their little book houses I got them to make... in fact I have been asked to go back again and I also got requests from a few other Women's groups to go along and do the same sort of thing.
I was really nervous at first ... There were so many ladies there .... It's not the same as doing a class where everyone is interested in crafting ... so I was relieved when it was over and happy that they enjoyed it.

I took along a few things to show them and hopefully inspire them ... this is an altered book I did ... I'll let the photos do the talking ... just bits and pieces from my supplies ...

This is the inside ...

... I hollowed out a part of the book to make a compartment

That's all I have to share today ... I am ploughing through DT stuff so that I can have everything done before my trip to Norway in 17days!

I hope you have a lovely day ... Thanks for stopping by
Till soon

City Crafter ... Hats off to You!

Hi everyone ...
Today I'm hosting this week's challenge at City Crafter....

The month of April sees not only Easter and Easter bonnets ... but here in Liverpool we have the famous Grand National Race ... On Ladies Day you can see some of the finest outfits and hats ... I'm not a fan of horse racing but I do so love to see the fashion ... So this week the challenge is all about HATS

The challenge I have set is to make a card or project with either a Hat on Or the word Hat
Please hop over to the blog to see all the DT projects and to get full details ... I am sponsoring a prize this week too ...

Here's my card

Three different papers here ... and the dress form image is from Craft Secrets which I've held onto for ever ... but just seemed perfect for this card

I've used a couple of rubons and a butterfly fussy cut from patterned paper ... together with a few rhinestones ... and the little hat? Well I have a few of these hiding away ... I've had them so long I can't even remember where they came from...

So are you going to join us this week? I'd love to see your creations ... The more fancy ... the better!

Enjoy your day ... It's so cold here .... Brrrr!

Keep safe

Tote Bag

Happy April!!
It's a beautiful Spring day today ... cool but sunny....
For some reason I woke this morning and thought it was Monday ... I got up early...(ish) and it was only later that I realised it was Sunday ... Still it gave me chance to visit you all while the house is silent and I'm sipping my coffee.... even the cat has gone out after a playful hour.

Yesterday my hubby went off to the football match and I got to spend time creating ... another thing to cross of my 'to do' list ... A Tote Bag ...

Lots of pretty fabric butterflies ...  on which I used some iron on interfacing first and then ran through my  Sizzix using my PTI die and a Sizzix die

A handmade flower with a glitzy button  from Lauren ...

Fabric frills and a row of pretty roses ... not sure you can see the sparkle on these ... but it is there
And Voila!

My pretty Tote Bag ... I'm so pleased with this
And just to give it some durability I lined it first with cotton fabric and then some clear vinyl fabric

... and added some velcro to fasten it with
Sorry the pictures are not that good but you get the idea ...

I hope you have a wonderful Sunday ... This is my last post for my new blog book ... I can hardly believe that I have been blogging for 2 years tomorrow and I intend to have a book printed for each year I blog.

Thanks so much for visiting me today and for all your wonderful comments that inspire me and encourage me ...
Till soon
