Spaceman and Giants

Happy Sunday ...
It's a beautiful sunny morning here in the UK and it's bank holiday weekend too ...

This week my adorable great nephew Ross celebrates his 10th birthday ... He's into all things 'space' and can tell you every planet in the solar system ... and give facts and figures!
I was hard pushed coming up with a card for him ... so I went with the Space theme

I took an image from the internet for my background and used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the astronaut ...

I made a flag and added some stars ... I hope he likes it

Before I went away ... here in Liverpool we had a spectacular event ... in commemoration of the 100 years anniversary of the Titanic ...

100 years ago a little girl named May who was 10 at the time ... wrote to her father who had taken a position as a bedroom steward on the ill fated liner ... she lived here in Liverpool in a house that is still standing and occupied ... her letter never arrived ... and her father perished ...
In honour of this ordinary little girl ... we were treated to an incredible 3 days of  a Sea Odyssey ...

A little girl (30ft tall) and her dog woke up in one of our parks

Giant puppets that became so life like

Their eyes were amazing ... and the dogs' antics ... so lifelike

The little girl was looking for her uncle ... and he was looking for her ...
He was a diver who rose incredibly from the river Mersey ... a 50ft giant

Over 3 days the people of Liverpool followed them both on their search ... watching them walk, shower and sleep ...

until they were finally reunited in a tender moment that had the people in tears ...

They hugged and the little girl did a dance of joy ...

The following day the city waved goodbye as they all sailed off together

There are lots of videos on You Tube ... just Google Liverpool Giants and be amazed at the wonderful display ... the incredible feat of the people working these puppets ... swinging like acrobats on ropes ...
The fantastic dance of the little girl ...

And most of all ... enjoy my City

Before I leave you ... please take a moment to look at the picture on the upper left of my blog ... Madeline McCann has been missing for 5 years now ... Her Mum is from my home town ... I can't begin to imagine what it is like for her ... I can but pray that one day she will be found safe and well

Till soon

More photos

Hello sweet friends ...

I have nothing crafty to share today ... but a few more photos of Norway for you ...
First of all though ... take a look at some little tin containers I picked up today really cheap

Aren't they sweet? And I can fit all my distress stains and more into the oblong one ... the other one can be hung on a wall ... maybe I'll put my markers in that ...

Sailing into Stavanger

We disembarked and went for a walk

These little restaurants are along the waterfront ... then I found this shop ... Heaven!!

on the way back to the ship ... we met this little Norwegian guy ... or is it a gal?

I love this shot ... taken through my porthole before we left Stavanger

Sailing into Flam ... doesn't my Aunt look lovely ... You wouldn't think she was 85 ...
See how still the water is in the fjords

Arriving at the picturesque Flam

It was so hot this day ... even on the journey to the town of Myrdal which is so high up ...
This is a picture taken from the train

You wouldn't believe I got sunburnt!

I hope you enjoyed seeing some of my trip ...
Have a lovely day

Jingle Belles Earth Day

Hello

This is my second post today
If you are looking for my City Crafter post ... Please scroll down

I'm just getting in with my card for Jingle Belles Earth day where the girls are asking that we recycle, re-use or re- purpose our goods
I chose to up-cycle a piece of an old shop bought Christmas card ... together with a tiny piece of glittered holly

I just love those little houses

I just had a small piece of that ribbon so tied a knot in it to make it look like a bow
and one little felt ball I found lurking in my button jar

There is still a little time for you to enter too ... hop over to the blog for full details and to see the fabulous creations from Lauren and Stephanie

Paper Pockets

Hello... Are you well?

I am back from my cruise to Norway... What a beautiful country ... I am still in awe of the beauty ...
My Aunt and I had a wonderful time and though I was not sea sick at all ... since I arrived on land yesterday evening - I am Land sick!! Honestly ... everything is swaying and it is the most peculiar feeling ever!
I had no internet connection at all for the whole time and I missed you all ... wished I could have taken you with me ... I missed seeing your creations yet probably it did me good to step away for a while and just enjoy the break ... the splendour of the fjords took my breath away ... We had the opportunity to disembark at a few locations and take train rides and tours ... On the second day I threw away my crutch and this trip healed me in many ways ...

I have to say that the house was spotless when I returned ... my husband had everything looking wonderful ... even flowers in the vase for my return ... I got up early this morning and fed the cats (yes we have a stray that has adopted us too) and I opened the bread cupboard looking forward to the simplicity of wholemeal toast and honey with coffee after the gourmet food that was on offer everyday on the ship and what did I find? The same loaf of bread that I had left last week ... only now it was a funny kind of green with grey fur growing on it ... Can you believe it? Welcome home Ros!

I hope to share some photos with you later in the week we but for now I have a little something I made before I left ...
I've been seeing these pretty pockets a lot lately and used up some of my scraps to make one too

My pocket has 3 tags inside

I love using up scraps to make something pretty ...

... quite a jumble of all sorts of things... bits of lace, buttons, a sweet yoyo from Jeanneke, and a mish mash of papers and textures ... but such fun to make

I notice that Blogger has also made some changes so I am trying to navigate my way around things ... (ha! sea talk)...  sheesh ... just when you get used to something - it changes

Before I go I want to say a big Thank you to the lovely ladies at Papercraft Star for my Comet award ... I am delighted you liked my card
Now I have lots of catching up to do ... thanks so much for visiting me and your lovely comments

Sending hugs

~ Ros ~
