It's my brother Bill's Birthday today ...

so just popping in to say "Happy Birthday"

and to share a very CAS card I made for him

Some Prima Printery papers and an image from Kaban 

The little cloud is from a PTI die and I computer generated the sentiment 

The sun is shining here and I've been invited for afternoon tea with a friend ...

A Little Nautical

I made this next card for 2 challenges ... First up I used this week's sketch at Just us Girls which finishes on Thursday ... hence the reason I am posting it today ... Here is the sketch

It's been ages since I played along here and I loved the sketch ... Though I ended up flipping it ...

I used the colour combination from CR84FN60

I found these colours really tricky ... But what started my card was this gorgeous image from The Graphics Fairy ... 

I just fell in love with this little boy and his surroundings ... and this is what resulted

The blue papers are digital papers By Chrissy W at Two Peas ... The green is Core'dinations 

and the grape coloured tissue tape was made by me ...

When it came to embellishments ... though my grape coloured roses looked lovely ... they were just not appropriate ... so I took a button and glued rope around in a circle leaving the end loose and popped an eyelet in the centre ... dunno why ... just like it!

The shells I have are ... well ... 'shell' coloured ... and I was highly delighted to discover that I could change them to green and grape using TH distress Stains ... The green one really look like they have algae on them

A piece of netting and some plastic 'twigs' (snapped of from a piece of home decor) and it was good to go! ... 

Here's a little close up of those shells ... Jeez I'm thrilled with them

... and that I managed to stick to the sketch AND keep to those (difficult for me) Colours!

Papercraft Star

Happy Wednesday friends ...

I had a lovely lunch and catch up with my GF's yesterday ... We really don't do it often enough and I always feel so much happier when we've had a relaxing few hours together ...

So today I have my DT project for this weeks challenge at Papercraft Star

As you can probably guess from this photo ... the theme this week is 

"Fruit"

Whilst those strawberries look so delicious ... my preference are raspberries ... though having suffered from kidney stones in the past ... I have to be very careful ... seems the seeds in fruit can cause these stones ...

Anyway ... I found a lovely vintage image on the web for this challenge 

and used papers from Websters Pages 'Cherry Pie' as my background

I made the flower with burlap, tulle and fabric ... and a little help from a TH die

The button is from my supplies 

A sticker from October Afternoon and some lace just finish it off

City Crafter Challenge

Linda is our lovely hostess this week at City Crafter ... and she is the reason I have rekindle my love of butterflies ... 

See the challenge she has chosen "Lets Do it Again" is about using this gorgeous image from The Graphics fairy ... where Karen works hard to bring us the most gorgeous free printables ... if you've never visited ... you really ought too!

I just adore this image ... the colours are so striking - you have already seen me use it on my cards ... and here is another card 

This time I am using paper from Papermania and a few little scraps

Once again I have cut and layered my butterflies

I love this challenge and I am so looking forward to seeing your creations ...

It's all about the Big Guy

.... Santa that is ... 

I finally found a space in my head to think about a Christmas card for this week's challenge at Jingle Belles Rock ... the theme being Inhabitants of the North Pole .. Santa ... Mrs Claus ... reindeer etc., 

I confess I didn't read it properly at first ... thought it was just Santa ... But no matter ... I'd have picked him anyway ... 

He always makes for "good times" ... ok so I've had some rotten Christmases but it wasn't Santa's fault

He makes me think of glitter and bows and has so much charm about him

Only fair that I should embellish him with these things

And the Ribbon Girl has a bingo card challenge ... 

Think my card qualifies for both diagonal lines ...

Ribbon, Bow, Twine ....... Image, Bow, Charm ... see the little wooden house charm?

It's my first time playing at the Ribbon Girl too

And yes I am still playing with Butterflies ... I'll share some more creations in the week ...

More butterflies ...

A card can say so many things .... and sometimes it's all we can do to show that we are thinking of someone and that we care.

One of my family members is going through a rough time ... She's beautiful and funny and brave and I know she will survive what the last few months have thrown at her ... I know she will make a new life and one day look back on these days ... a stronger, happier lady. In the meantime all I can do is let her know I am here and I care and how better than a card ... Butterflies and all

I am using beautiful papers - free from Astrids Artistic Efforts together with a sentiment generated on my computer

The butterflies I found on the web and using Photoshop I was able to change them into png files (transparencies) so I could first print them on my card and then print them again to fussy cut and layer  .. adding some black rhinestones

N.B. A little TIP ... if you want the butterflies to stay flicked up like this ... put some little foam pads just beneath the wings and then they won't flatten down

The birdcage is from The Graphics Fairy ... again I made it into a transparency and printed it onto the patterned paper

Of course there was just one other thing I needed to send with this card ... 

A girlie survival kit

Lip gloss and chocolate ... Well, it always helps!

And I had a sweet little surprise myself  today ... this pretty little tag and envelope arrived in my mailbox from my friend Kirsty
