A Great Injustice

I try to keep this little blog of mine free of political issues ... It's my diary ... My footsteps in life
But yesterday marked a very special day for the people of my City ... After 23 years - Vindication came from a tragedy that should never have happened nor be repeated ...

It started out one sunny day in April 1989 ... Our home team Liverpool FC were playing a cup tie match in the now famous Hillsborough stadium ... Thousands of people from my city travelled to Sheffield ... Fathers and Sons ... Mothers, Sisters and daughters ...
96 of them never came home again ... and of the people that were there... the survivors ... their lives and countless other lives were changed forever .....

For 23 years the families of the victims have fought for truth, for justice ... using money donated to them ... whilst for 23 years the Political system and the Authorities used tax payers money to dispel and refute any responsibility for the tragedy ... Claiming the fault lay with the football fans ...
To add to the anguish of the families and survivors ... a british newspaper printed the most vile stories about the fans and the victims ... claiming it to be the truth ... I cannot even repeat the words they wrote.

Time moves on ... Government leaders change, The higher echelons of the police authorities retire ... and FINALLY an independent enquiry of experts from every conceivable area, do an in depth study of all the documents ... The result of which came out yesterday ...
The Prime Minister gave an outstanding speech ... apologising unreservedly for the gross injustice, the lies and the unbelievable cover up from the highest level which have tormented this City, the victims families and friends and not least of all the victims themselves

I listened all day to the harrowing words ... The admissions of guilt ... the apologies. Thousands of innocent men women and children were herded into a caged pen of minute proportions to the amount of people ... the doors locked behind them ... their screams ignored as many were slowly being crushed to death ...
One of the hardest things to hear, was that more than 40 ambulances with paramedics and life saving equipment on board were held outside the ground ... not allowed to go in and offer assistance ... Had they have been let in ... more than 40 lives could have been saved ...
The football fans themselves became the heros, the rescuers, fighting to tear down hoarding to use as stretchers ...
dragging people to the safety of the pitch ... many performing CPR ... It is only fair that I point out that of the few Police and St Johns Ambulance who were able to help ... they did so valiantly

Of just over 160 statements - 116 had been falsified / amended to remove any blame from the authorities ... The same authorities that did a police check on every victim in order to besmirch their character... that even conducted blood alcohol levels on dead children ... The authorities that refused parents permission to even hold or touch their dead children ...

The catalogue of errors and cover ups from the highest levels are beyond belief ... At Liverpool Cathedral yesterday, where a special ceremony was being held for the tragedy ... people fainted as they listened to the sheer enormity of the cover up

There are many photos on the web of the tragedy unfolding ... harrowing and disturbing ...
But for now at least the TRUTH has come out ... Justice will hopefully follow ...

Most importantly
Last night ... for the first time in 23 years .. the victims could finally
"Rest In Peace"

Those little bird cages actually come on a strip to wrap around votives ... in the wedding dept at Hobbycraft ... the pretty trim is from my sweet friend Jacira

The little 3D egg sticker is by K & Co

Polka Dots

Remembering with you

Hi there ...
Sorry I haven't been around much lately ...
Today I am here with my project for this weeks challenge at City Crafter ... brought to us by our newest team member Charlene ...
Charlene is asking that we use polka dots on our projects and has given us this lovely inspiration photo

I delved into my papers and came out with one I have had for the longest time ... can't even remember who makes it anymore ...

But it went perfectly with the little piece of lace I had
And the Ocean Tides paper and ink from PTI

The stamp is from WaltzingMouse ... my go to for sentiments

Our Guest Designer this week is a very creative lady ... the talented Michelle (Wood and Fabric)... has A past winner here at City Crafter  ... welcome Michelle!
You too could be a guest designer here but you've got to be in it to win it ... so here's hoping you'll don your polka dots and join us this week

Last week we were enthralled with your entries ... so many creative people out there ... makes picking each week so very difficult ... Thanks so much to you all

I will be back tomorrow ... till then I wish you a wonderful day

Keep safe

It will be good for me ... I need some thinking time

So today I am really popping in to wish my lovely blog friend Ira ..
 Happy Birthday!
Ira is such a lovely, kind and caring lady ... who also has an amazing talent for creating beautiful things ... she has a penchant for Marie Antoinette and for shoes! I'm sure she would appreciate you stopping by today
Ira ... I wish you a wonderful Birthday and thank you for your friendship

Wednesday means a new challenge at Papercraft Star and this week our challenge to you is
"Something Girly"
Here's your inspiration photo

How beautiful is that? I would have loved a room like that when I was little .. heck I'd love a room like that now!

Here is my card

I made this for a sweet blog friend who celebrates her birthday this week (wink wink)
I just know she loves girly ... I really hope this arrives in time ...
Remember my card and gift set Here (for my sweet sister) ... well they never arrived ... So fingers crossed that my card and gifts get to my blog friend

I apologise for the photos ... I work in advance so these were taken when we were experiencing torrential rain

A mix of papers here from Astrids Artistic Efforts, Grace Taylor and a gorgeous notelet and lace from Jan ... the sticker is by K&Co and the flower is handmade

I hope you can join us this week ... and if you are looking for more inspiration ... hop over to the Papercraft Star blog and check out the rest of the team's creations ...

Monochromatic

Good morning
I hope you are well ...
Today we have a brand new challenge at City Crafter ... brought to us by Linda ...
Linda is asking that we create a monochromatic card or project

Our Guest Designer once again is the uber talented Rebecca Deeprose (Paper Primrose.com) ... A winner and spotlight artist of CCCB
If you have time this week ... and would like a chance to guest design here at City Crafter please come along and join us ...

I played with the soft neutral tones this week

All my papers digital  ... even those little bees ... or perhaps they're wasps ... paper ones are the only kinda wasps I like!

I started with a digital paper by Pink Petticoat ... Here
Then added a free paper from Astrids Artistic Efforts ... Here
which I overlayed with the chicken wire overlay from Here
The bees are from my all time favourite The Graphics Fairy  ... I printed and cut various sizes and glittered their little wings

The flower was made using lace, faux leather and a ceramic earring
You can just notice a little TH tissue tape there too and black stitching ... my machine hates black thread ... hence the uneven stitching ... Finally a computer generated sentiment to finish my card ... swiped with Antique Linen distress ink ...

I loved this challenge and can't wait to see your creations ... right now I'm off to the blog to see what the rest of the team have created ...

Thanks so much for stopping by and thank you for your lovely comments ... I really appreciated each and every one ...

Keep Safe
