City Crafter "All About Him"

Hello ...
My posts this week are scheduled as I am away and according to my Aunt with whom I will be staying ... We have a full week!

At City Crafter today Our lovely Kirsty is hosting for us and the challenge she has set this week is
"All About Him"

The challenge is to create a Father's Day card or a Masculine card

Our Guest Designer this week is the Uber talented Jinny Newlin  who also happens to be one of the sweetest bloggers too ... Please take a moment to go visit her blog and be awed by her talent and her cute children

I came up with a bright beach themed card this week

Some MME paper with an image I had in my stash to which I added some eyelets and rope for a little interest ... the silhouette stamp is from a freebie set that came with a magazine

The banners were made by stamping with my blenders onto white CS in different inks and then I sponged around the card too

I looking forward to seeing what you all come up with ... Masculine cards can be a challenge at the best of times!
Don't forget to take a look at the rest of the DT projects too ...

Have a beautiful Day

Happy Mail and Photo Heavy

Hello there ...
I'm getting organised for my trip tomorrow but I just had to pop in and say a HUGE thank you to 2 sweet blog friends who sent me happy mail ...

My friend Sylvia sent me a beautiful handmade card and some sweet angel scraps ... (that's what we call them over here)

I'm old enough to remember 'scrap books' when you filled an ordinary book with things like the above and did swaps with your friends ... (Do any of you know what I'm talking about?)
Isn't that card just beautiful!! Sylvia is one talented lady!

As you may know some of her family live in Oklahoma and you can imagine, she has been very concerned ... so to know with all that going on in her life ... she thought of me ... well I am humbled ... Thank you my friend

Now the talented Linda B. (Hands to Work Hearts to Love makes the most exquisite albums and cards and we decided to help each other out ... I couldn't get the bags needed for the albums and Linda couldn't get the transparencies ... hence we did a swap ...
Well, her package to me just arrived and rendered me speechless ... Not only did she send me the bags ... but a gorgeous card ... AND ... one of her amazingly beautiful albums!!

I know this album has been posted on her blog  (do hop over and check out her work) ... but given just how much detail and just how stunning it is ... I am going to show it again

... And the card

Even my husband was rendered speechless!
Thank you so much Linda ...

I am truly blessed to have such wonderful, thoughtful friends ...
And thank you all for letting me share this with you ...

Thank You and Pushing it a Little

Hello ...
We're having some lovely weather here ... I'm not one for sitting in the sun much and my little craft space is cool with a view of the garden so I'm really enjoying it ...
I'm off to Lincoln again at the weekend ... going to have some time with my lovely Aunt ... But right now I'm up to my neck in making the project for my sweet group tonight. I've decided that we will be making flower pot cards ... you guys are the best for inspiration ...

I have been so fortunate this week ... an honourable mention at both CASology and Shopping our Stash ... I'm over the moon!

So I took a break from cutting flowers, leaves and plant pots to make a card for the new challenge at CASology .... Now that's where I'm pushing it a little ... the theme is "Wheels" Do Pinwheels count?

Shopping Our Stash are challenging us to create without using any DP ... So my Pinwheel is all fabric - even the sentiment is on a piece of ribbon and I did do some dry embossing but I'm not sure it shows up too well ...

Lessology are asking for "Beads" ... There are little pearl beads on my flower and I did use a left over scrap of fabric ...

Ok, play time is over -  I have 25 bows to make now ...

Have a beautiful day and keep safe

Papercraft Star #148

Hi there!
Are you ready for a new challenge at Papercraft Star?
In case you didn't know know ... our challenges from here on will all be
Photo Inspiration Challenges...
and this is the photo Jan has chosen for us this week

If you go over to the Blog ... there will always be some suggestions to motivate you ... other than that it's up to you how you best interpret the photo
Please remember to follow the rules

                                              1. Link back to Papercraft Star
                                              2. Restrict your entry to 4 additional challenges

I used a lovely inspirational quote stamp from Inkylicious which I embossed in silver as my focal point for this for this card

... together with a Sizzix embossing folder to get the the harlequin effect background similar to that in the photo

I added some silver embellishments and then remembered how difficult it is to photograph reflective surfaces!  The keen eyed amongst you will see I've captured myself in one of those silver dots!
The 'burlap' is in fact not burlap but paper straw ... it's really made from paper and I picked it up in the craft dept of  The Works ...

White on white is always a challenge for me ... but I've no doubt that to many of you it's 'easy peasy' ... so I'm really looking forward to seeing what you come up with ... Have fun!

And have a beautiful day

I'm linking this card up to the inspiring Word Art Wednesday Challenge

Pride & Prejudice

Dare I say it but I read this novel way back in high school more than 4 decades ago ...
And I know my fellow team mate Wendy at City Crafter is a huge fan of Jane Austen

The lovely Wendy is hosting for us this week and the challenge she originally set us was to create a project based on the novel Pride and Prejudice ... But the challenge has been extended to
Create a project based any Jane Austen novel

I have to confess that at first my mind went blank! But of course you only have to think about some of the costumes and the array of vintage photos and silhouette images available to be inspired ... Naturally I didn't think to go down that route

What inspired me was the lovely chain in the photo and a wonderful and meaningful quote from the book
 Here's my project

A simple necklace

... dressed up with a few charms

Our Guest designer this week is Julie aka The Glitter Chick ... who I know will have no trouble with this challenge ...
I'm really looking forward to seeing her creation along with those of the other designers ... and we'd all love to see your take on the challenge ... are you an Austen fan?
The winner will be given a Guest Design spot here with us at City Crafter too ... so come and join us.

Till soon my friends

Have a beautiful day

Summer's Here!

Good morning!
How was your weekend?
We had a beautiful weekend ... full of warm sunshine ... dare I say it but it looks like summer is here ...
I know there are hurricanes and tornados hitting certain parts of the US ... I can't even begin to image what you are going through but my prayers and thoughts are with you ...

Last week we celebrated my brother Ron's birthday ... we got together for lunch and my adorable great nephew Ross came too ... It was so lovely to catch up with him
This is the card I made for my brother

I've had fun using these MME papers ... adding washi tape

... cutting stars in different sizes and layering them ...

I keep all the little packets of spare buttons and things that come attached to clothes and that brown metal circle and bead are from one of the packets ... they just looked perfect for that star

Before I go ... I'd like to say Thank You to Flourishes for this lovely stamp set I won

... and a Thank You to the ladies at Play Date Cafe for a 'Cream in our coffee' award for challenge #180

I hope you have a beautiful start to your week ... I'll be back tomorrow for the new challenge at City Crafter ... Hope to 'see' you then ...
