Thinking of you

Hello ...

We're having some wild weather here at the moment and yet I'm still finding Ladybirds everywhere in the house ... How weird

I've been spending time in my craft room making a few cards and keeping up with my DT work ... But yesterday I had to make a card for my husband's friend ... He lost his only brother this week
It's always hard to have to make a sympathy card

I hope this lets him know that we care

I used the inlaid die technique and I always think these little birds can say so much

I got myself one of the 'wink of stella' pens and used it on the leaves ... What fabulous stuff that is...

I seem to be splattering my cards all the time at the moment ... I love that TH pewter paint ... sadly I've knocked the bottle over 3 times now so just had to order a new one

The card stock started as plain white and though it looks as though I sponged it, it is in fact a digital from Pink Petticoat ... Ombre Paper selection. I love these and if you don't happen to have the colour inks to sponge, your short on time or you're not too clever at blending, I would highly recommend these.

I hope you have a lovely weekend ... stay warm and safe

Till soon

January Birthdays

Hello...

I hope you are all well and having a good week ...
It's been a busy one here and I got to meet up with the son of my dear blog friend Stella
Her lovely boy will be spending 6 months at Liverpool University and we found him a nice place to stay ... Here we are meeting up

In a few months time I will finally get to meet Stella and her husband too!

January is the start of another year of Birthdays and Anniversaries ... I celebrate both my anniversary and birthday this month and so does a sweet friend of mine ...
Here's a little birthday card I made for her

I cut a lot of stars out for Christmas cards together with various other things and I bet like me there are things you cut and didn't use ... So I'm using up all those bits

It's been a long time since I inked up that Happy Birthday stamp ... I've had it for years, in fact the only 'new' thing on this card is the lovely pink jewel scroll which I got from my friend Char
I like to cut them into different pieces and that way I get more use out of them

I do hope you enjoy your day and for those of you shivering in the arctic winter weather ... Be safe and stay warm

Till soon

City Crafter 243

Good morning!!

It's the first challenge of the year at City Crafter and this week Char is hosting for us with a theme of
Burlap Love
Make a card or project using burlap

It was my Wedding Anniversary on Sunday so the card I made was the one I gave to my husband

I used the negative space of a bird die ... That I have never used even though I've had it for some time... and put burlap ribbon in 2 shades behind it

Our Guest Designer this week is Larissa ... winner from week 238 ... Click on her name to be taken to her blog
This week's winner will also be offered a GD spot with us here at City Crafter

My fello DT have some more inspirations for you up on the blog - hop over and take a look - I hope you'll be able to join us this week.

I'm also entering this at Darnell's challenge for

Never used that die before...

Have a lovely day and take care

NBUS and Simon Says Stamp Challenge

Hello ...
Life is finally getting back to normal after Christmas and New Year ...
My inspiration took some time out and getting it back has been a struggle

I did however get around to making a card for the NBUS challenge run by the lovely Darnell at djkardkreations

So, I have quite a lot of paper pads one or two (or more) have never been used ... Especially those pages where there are little symbols or words ... Not doing much scrapping I generally use them for albums ...
I also had a new word die "You" from Simon Says Stamp that I hadn't even opened ...
So this is where my NBUS card came in

The dottie paper, the Hello and the red embellishments are all papers from a Teresa Collins pad "You are my happy"
I smothered the little heart and the circle fabulous with dimensional Mod Podge - cut the word die out a few times and stuck them together for more dimension and just added a few sequins

The Monday challenge over at Simon Says Stamp is all about pairing old with new so I think my card also qualifies ... Old paper pack - New Die

At least it got me creating once again

I hope you're having a good start to your week ... I'll be back tomorrow for the first challenge of the year at City Crafter

Thanks for stopping by - Enjoy your day

Prickly

Hello and Happy New Year to you all!

Having taken a short break Our Beautiful World resumes this week
I've picked the word prompt for you and it's

Prickly

Little did I know that when I picked this word sometime ago that prickly is just how my skin was going to be for the next month or two

Chestnuts are something I love to eat ... hot or cold but collecting them is dangerous work ... they are so sharp and prickly

My husband collected some for me last autumn ... they were plentiful on the golf course lol!
I have very sensitive skin and much as I love my garden, just brushing up against some of the shrubs gives me hives

Prickly rain soaked holly - I have 2 kinds ... the darker and the lighter

But it was none of these that affected me ... Nor was it pruning back the prickly rose bushes

Perhaps it was the prickly Christmas tree?

Who knows? Suffice to say something gave me an itchy unsightly rash which became infected and took 2 trips to the doctor before they could find something to help me.
Finally I am seeing results ... Teach me for picking this word huh?

Why don't you challenge yourself this year to photograph something that fits our prompt and link up to

We'd love you to share with us

It's my wedding anniversary today ... 15 years so I'm being taken out for breakfast

Enjoy your day

Till soon
