City Crafter 267

Hello friends
It's time for a new challenge at City Crafter and this week my dear friend Stella is hosting for us with a
Colour Challenge

"Use Blue, Green and a Splash of Red"

Time for a bit of ink blending me thinks

I started by stamping and white embossing my card with a crackle effect stamp and then blended blue and green inks all over

I have an obsession with poppies lately in case you haven't noticed Lol! And though these flowers technically aren't poppies (Velvet Blossoms by Poppystamps) I kind of made them look like poppies

The sentiment is a Rubon ... Perfect for applying to vellum that you can't actually stamp on

Our Guest Designer this week is a fellow Brit - the talented Liz Carvill ... Do stop by her lovely blog and say "Hi" Her cards are fabulous!
Once again we are offering a GD spot to the challenge winner so get creative and come join us this week at City Crafter

Have a lovely day!

Painted Poppies

Hello
Did you have a good weekend?
My husband loved the Father's Day card I gave him from Mikey and I ... He didn't hear from any of his own children but at least he knows that we appreciate him

Well, we are in the third week of June and there are 2 more birthdays on my calendar before the month is up ... Here's a card ready to go in the post today... Once again I am using the Painted Poppy Stamp by Altenew - I love this stamp

I ran my CS through the printer to get the colour (cashmere mist by Pink Petticoat) and stamped my poppies in back ink - I knew I wanted to paint them but wasn't sure how they would turn out on pre printed card - as soon as it gets wet it changes colour

I was pleasantly surprised ... I used distress stains and I really like the watercolour effect

The little jar and the sentiment are by Clearly Besotted and the butterfly is a Memory Box die
I see that Memory Box are starting a Monthly Challenge! So I'll be entering this card there seeing as the current challenge is Butterflies

I'm still in quite a bit of pain with my ear problem and sleeping is difficult but hopefully by the end of the week I'll be feeling much better ...

I'll be back tomorrow for the CCCB post ...

Have a great day

Our Beautiful World

Hello and good morning!

Manuela has picked the word prompt this week at

 The word is Tiny

As it happens I got this tiny little eczema spot in the fold of my ear and being that it had nowhere to go it has infected the whole of the ear cartilage and you wouldn't believe that something so tiny could cause so much pain!
Oh don't worry ... I'm not going to share a photo of my ear Lol!

Here we go ... my photos for Tiny

Tiny little greenfly that are as much a pain in the garden as my ear is right now... I mean I have tons of ants so why aren't they dealing with them?

Tiny little raindrops ... ahh the great British summer and today is midsummer, from hereon in the nights get shorter...

Tiny poppy seeds ... this poppy is only a miniture

And teeny tiny hairs on the unopened poppies

And one last 'tiny' are these seedlings that I am constantly pulling out of the garden

...because if I don't they will grow into the huge trees that you see in the background of this last photo

Hop on over to the Blog to see what the rest of the team are sharing

Have a lovely Sunday

Just Us Girls Week 298

Hello there!
I'm Guesting again this week with those lovely ladies at

The challenge we've been set this week is a colour challenge
Burgundy, Orange (or Gold) and Yellow

I confess when I first saw this I thought burgundy? What have I got that's burgundy? Turns out I actually had a little Versacolour cube in burgundy ... So I decided to do some ink blending

After sponging on my 3 different colour inks I splashed a little water on then stamped and embossed my sentiment in gold

I used the same 3 inks to colour scraps of CS and cut out little stars which were then covered in glossy accents and to give them a shooting star look I added a few gold strands before adhering them with foam dots onto the card

I'm so glad I discovered that little ink pad because I really love the colour.

As always the ladies at Just Us Girls have lots more inspiration for you up on the Blog and one winner from any of the June Challenges will be in the running to be picked as Guest Designer for the whole month of August! So link up your entry ... I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with using these colours ...

Thanks so much for your visit - Have a great day

Poppy Sympathy Card

Hello...
I hope your week is going well ...
We have workmen in redoing our main bathroom ... I confess I hate the disruption and the noise - I know it will all be worth it in the end and I have my sweet Aunt coming to stay for a while in July - I'm really looking forward to that so I'll just have to grin and bear it right now...

I had to make a sympathy card for someone who has just lost her Mum

And having recently bought this gorgeous Painted Poppy stamp by Altenew... It was perfect for my card

... Along with some stencilling and gold glitter embossing ... I also added some 'dew' to the poppy petals using glossy accents

My sentiment was computer generated and I have a little tip for you - You may wonder how I got my sentiment lined up on my die cut
I used a little banner die (by Clearly Besotted)

lining up the die with the sentiment can be tricky so after I print or stamp the sentiment (ensuring the size will fit into my die) I draw a pencil line either side of the sentiment at the centre point (don't worry this will rub out afterwards)...

Turn your die cutting side down and place it to centre your words as above and then slide it upwards until your pencil lines are in the centre of your die

use some low tack tape to hold it in place whilst you run it through your cutting machine and it will come out perfectly centred...

Ok that's me for today...

Thanks so much for your visit - Take care

City Crafter 266

Good Morning!

I'm hosting the challenge over at City Crafter this week and the theme is

Die Cut Gold

As gold is very trendy right now I'm asking that you
Create a card or project that features one or more Gold Die Cuts

I'm sure like me you all have that shiny or patterned gold CS lurking in your craft supplies somewhere ... So go get it out and join our challenge

I stencilled tiny dots on my DP paper and though you really can't see it too well here, I added some gold glitter to the stencilled dots

I cut the paper using one of the Lil'Inkers hillside border dies to make a space for the gold die cut sentiment and it was easy to manipulate the 'congrats' to fit into the curve

To finish I layered 2 Tinsel Ropes one in white and one in gold across my card. I love this die and I've often just cut the 'stars' apart and used them individually

Our Guest Designer this week is Gildett Marillac  (click on the link to visit her blog) Gildett makes some really lovely project and I'm sure she would love it if you said "Hi"

As always our team have lots more inspiration for you up on the City Crafter Blog and this week's winner will also have a GD spot with us

Wishing you a lovely day
