Mixed Media and Mishaps

Hello there ...

Well, DH recovered from his virus within a few days (he always does) but having kindly passed it around I'm struggling and my son has been quite ill for a while now ... Of course I want to fuss him but hey, he's a grown man and wont let me... They don't quite get it, that's what a Mum's does for the rest of her life..

On friday I had a mishap ... I have no idea how, what or why but DH discovered my cell phone in the washing up... I kid you not! We tried the usual things- placed it in a bowl of rice overnight but that thing was never going to come back to life...sigh
Fortunately I got a good deal on a new one and then had to email everyone to get their numbers again. At least I had downloaded most of my photos.

So... having completed my DT work I decided to play around with paints and stencils etc., Inspired by Gabrielle Pollacco's gorgeous canvas Here

I just used anything I had in my stash and this is my take

It's been a while since I got messy and just lost myself, I really enjoyed it... Plus I found a way to use my empty perfume bottles. They are often such pretty shapes and it seems a shame to toss them out... Using a pair of pliers it was easy(-ish) to remove the spray top

Actually I could add a real flower and a little water because the bottle is quite light - here's a few more photos

Yesterday I played around with water colour paints, trying to stay withing the lines whilst colouring has never been easy for me but I love to practice. Then again I love to see the paint randomly flow over the paper when drenched with water ... there's something relaxing and magical about it.
I'll share some things later in the week -

Thanks for popping by

Have a good day

Double D Challenge 3

Hello ...

Today Team Diane is hosting the new challenge at

Double D Challenge Blog

The theme is Pretty Pink Hearts - Well, it's that time of year when love is in the air
 This is the inspiration collage

Beautiful isn't it - I sure could eat those!

Our team have created some lovely cards to inspire you and here's my card

I did some blending with 2 shades of pink inks through a stencil before cutting out my hearts - The largest one was cut on my Cameo and I cut a bigger one to use the negative for my card front

The glittered wreath was also done on the Cameo and the sentiment (PTI) was from a stamp set that my dear friend Rebecca sent me for my birthday!

We are looking forward to seeing what you come up with... you have plenty of time to enter - please go and visit the Double D Blog to check out the different styles by the rest of our team and check out the prizes and the rules

I'm also entering this card at
(Love Makes The World Go Round)

 and

 (A Fine Romance)

Wishing you a lovely day

City Crafter 297

Good Morning!

Today Marina is hosing the challenge at
As always Marina has given us a fun challenge Fantastic Plastic

Marina wants us to use something plastic on our projects - e.g. Acetate, Shrink Plastic, Friendly Plastic

I chose to go with Acetate and I printed on to my acetate a digital image that I first saw on Marina's blog and loved it so much I bought it!

IRL this looks so much nicer ... Very ethereal. It's so hard to photograph acetate. I used copics to try and colour the reverse of the acetate, they didn't work that well but they did give colour and some texture

She is so adorable ... I added some tiny sequins under the acetate and then gems on the top

Our Guest Designer this week is Andie Miller
Please click on the link to go visit her blog and enjoy her lovely creations

I'm so looking forward to seeing what you all come up with this week... If you need more inspiration check out the creations from the rest of our team on the City Crafter Blog

Have a lovely day

Bird

Hello!

Bird is the word this week over at

Chosen for us by the lovely Kirsty

I just love photographing birds so this was an easy one for me, the only problem was deciding which ones to use...

On a visit to Port d'Andratx last year I spotted this little guy... It's a beautiful fishing port so I guess they find plenty of scraps whilst keeping their tiny feet cool

Looks like he spotted something...

Not sure what it is but he seems pleased

Last spring we had some birds nesting in our garden which was delightful, seeing as we have cats, so I thought it was worth sharing these photos again

Mama Robin - or maybe Papa

A blackbird with food for the babies

And a blue tit checking out this house

Share your Bird photos with us at

this week and go visit the Blog to see what my friends are sharing ...

And before I go I want to just say Happy Birthday to Wen! If I got my dates right Wen celebrates her birthday today ... hop on over and leave her some love!

Have a beautiful Sunday!

Thinking of you

Hello ...

Just have a card to share for all my friends living on the East Coast of the USA to say I am thinking of you

One of my dearest friends lives in New Jersey ... We have been friends since I was 4 years old and I miss her a lot ... She posted photos of the weather there and being a nurse, staying home from work is not an option

I used the negative of my skyline die as a stencil to sponge some distress ink and coloured the trees using my Copic Ciaos... As you all know, I am a newbie when it comes to Copics, and to colouring for that matter... I gather that certain inks are not advisable for your stamped image but as my 'go to' ink is always Versafine (not recommended) I always cover it in clear E/B and heat it which eliminates any problem and I like the shiny look it gives to the outline image

I hope your weather is improving and  you all stay safe

Oops! I almost forgot to say that I am also posting this card to support my teamies over at Double D challenges where the theme is "Brrr"... A Winter Time Theme

Till soon

Love Is In The Air

Good morning!
I hope you are enjoying your week ...

The Monday Challenge over at SimonSays Stamp is Love is in the air - Use red

My love affair with little animals continues -
Using a little guy from the Memory Box Gnome for Christmas stamps and dies, here's what I made

Uhuh, A polar bear this time...sending love to his sweetheart using balloons ... I mean how else is he going to send it?
The little red hearts were punched out and smothered in glossy accents

I used balloon dies by Lil'Inkers and the sentiment - MFT's Label Makers - is stamped, embossed and handcut...
To add a little interest I used a Lawn Fawn stitched hillside border die on the card edge

I am also entering this at The Sisterhood of Crafters challenge Love Letters

Got the hearts and got the word...

There's a nasty virus hanging around in my home right now ... DH has taken to his bed and I'm hoping I don't catch it...I must admit, it's pretty peaceful round here though hee hee...
Have a beautiful day
