Spring Thing

Hello and Happy Sunday to you

Kirsty has picked "Spring Thing" for the prompt this week at

Unfortunately Spring has been delayed here where I live... I was looking back on last year's photos and everywhere was so much more colourful

We do however have amazing displays of Daffodils ... They're blooming not only in the gardens but in virtually every park and highway that we pass

The blossom is slowly starting to appear coaxed by the spells of sunshine but winter is clinging - outstaying her welcome

Cold nights, cool days and raindrops that leave the winter pansies bowing their heads

But there are some Spring surprises to come... The tulips my dear friend Stella sent from The Netherlands are awaiting her arrival ...

They have decided not to open until she is here... only 10 days to go

And look at this

This makes me smile because it's my lilac tree - My Mum loved lilacs and this always makes me think of her but last year I didn't get one single flower on that tree

But I can already see the purple flowers peeking out ... Oh yes! We are having lilacs this year, so Spring you are forgiven for being a little tardy and we are waiting to welcome you with open arms

Till soon

Make it Yellow

Hello there...
We have a new challenge over at Double D Challenge today

Team Diane are hosting and the challenge is
Make it Yellow

Yellow is not my go to colour... It's always a challenge to me for some reason ... Guess I'm more of a blues and greens gal but, yellow it is!

I had the idea for my card and started by stamping and colouring the flowers with Copics but I made a boo boo so ended up cutting out the stamped flowers and layering them ... A happy accident as it turned out...

The background was sponged with distress ink and everything else was done with Copics
Then I did a lots of raindrops using glossy accents

The team have created some lovely cards to inspire you up on the blog ... Go take a look and see what you can win if you link up with us ...

As it happens Just Us Girls have a Word Week challenge and the word is Raindrops

So I'd like to enter my card there and also at Inkspirational Challenges
where they have this lovely photo this week

Thanks so much for stopping by - Have a lovely day!

City Crafter 306

Good morning friends

A new challenge starts today at City Crafter and it's Kirsty's turn to host for us
The challenge Kirsty has given us this week is

"You are my Super Hero"

Create a project that includes one (or more) of the following
1. Super Hero
  2. Comic Strips
       3. The word Super

This is really not my forte - Talk about a challenge Arrrgh!!!
I finally came up with something and when I shared a sneak peek with my friend Stella, well, she went into fits of laughter...

You're laughing too huh? Well it was the best I could do... I don't own any stamps or dies suitable for this challenge so for some reason I thought it would be fun to use an owl as my Super Hero (as well as the word Super) I used a Woodware owl stamp and cut out just the larger owl... If you take a look Here you will see that it's not a full owl so I found a cape shape on the internet that I altered slightly to cover him

The mask I drew and cut on the cameo and I used a Stampendous tree stamp for the branch... Again it was only half a tree so I just turned my stamp and stamped again lining up with the first one.

The sentiment was done on my computer and everything was coloured with copics and a little glossy accents added to the mask...

I'm really looking forward to seeing what you come up with... Our GD this week is the lovely
Click the link to go visit her blog and check out her fabulous creations

Don't forget to go take a look at the projects the rest of the team have created this week too on the City Crafter Blog

Have a Super day!

Compassion

Good Morning

Ariadne has chosen the prompt for us at

The word is Compassion

You all know I have a love of animals ... I've had so many rescue animals I lost count - even frogs and mice were treated if they were found injured. You could call it compassion...

Whether it be for a little bird or a fox cub...

You could say compassion is the many times I've joined in the Race For Life to help those affected by Cancer

But actually I want to tell you a little story of compassion shown by children, the photos are not very good... But the story will warm your heart

Compassion
My great nephew Ross was born with Moebius Syndrome... His daddy (my nephew) was rushed into hospital on Ross's 3rd Birthday - he passed away suddenly the next day. There were many hurdles for this little boy to overcome.
A few years ago he joined a scout group where his acceptance by the rest of the children had been mediocre - He's the only member with Special Needs

Last July a community relay race was announced in which 4 teams from the Scout Group were to participate ... Ross was adamant he want to take part bless him.
He was the last boy to go and had to run 1.3 miles which doesn't seem far, but for a boy who amongst other problems has a club foot and muscle wastage in both legs, it was a challenge, especially as it was uphill not once but twice.

On the first leg coming downhill he was struggling... His Mum began calling out to him to urged him on...

Surprisingly, other Mothers also began calling to urge him on... Then his name was announced over the loud speaker, saying that he was running for the Scouts and he sped up a little...
Then came the act of compassion as his team mates ducked under the barrier and began to run with him...

They cheered him on and said "You can do it Ross, You can do it! "

And he did!

Compassion makes a difference - It can give hope when there was none... It can help someone overcome hurdles, it can save lives and in this case it can make you cry as I do everytime I recall the Compassion shown to my much loved great nephew on that day.

Bluebells

Hello there...Happy April to you!

We had a gorgeous Spring day yesterday and today it's freezing...sigh
Just a quick post as I've not had a lot of time this week for creating other than preparing club projects.  I did manage to get a little card done this afternoon using a stamp from a Clearly Besotted set "From all of us" that I just bought...Well, I couldn't resist...

I coloured the bluebells with copics ... Man it's hard to get into all those tiny lines - hats off to all of you who do that with such skill

Anyways... it's not too bad considering and I just happened to have a piece of blue vellum in my stash so I cut out a few leaves to dress up my card.

I'm delighted to have had my Spring card Here picked as one of the winners at The Card Concept
last week ... How about that...
Thank you so much ladies!

So... I'm off to Lincoln first thing in the morning ... Finally I'm getting to go visit my sweet Aunt and I can't wait! I know I won't sleep tonight - I'm so excited.

Have a great weekend and I'll catch you on Sunday

Till soon
