City Crafter 361

Hello from sunny Majorca!
(Only kidding ... this is a prescheduled post... from a rather cold UK)

It's time for another challenge at

This week Marina is hosting with a challenge to make a projects related to

(maybe the arrival of a baby, the arrival of Spring or the arrival at an airport)

I chose to make a card welcoming a new baby using a digital image

I coloured the giraffe with Copics and decided to make him a little different from the usual colour then  I used my Gansai Tambi paints to watercolour a background on ordinary cardstock -

I tried out some Nuvo jewel drops and quite like the effect, even though I have a million sequins- I bet you do too!

The team have created lovely projects to inspire you - Head on over to the City Crafter Blog to take a peek.

Have a great day and I hope to catch up with you later in the week.

Till soon

Double D Challenge

Good Morning friends...

I'm posting today for the challenge at

where team Diane are hosting a

Red/White/Blue + Stars & Stripes Challenge

Basically you can use
Red/White/Blue And or Stars & Stripes

Here's what I came up with

I kind of used just about everything Lol!

The boots and bows I cut on my Cameo and then coloured them and covered them in glossy accents...

...With a computer generated sentiment. I hand cut a kite from stars and stripes DP and stamped, embossed and blended a BG, finally adding some glossy accents raindrops

Yep, I think I covered all bases...

Head on over to the Blog to see what everyone else came up with and come play along with us!

Please note that as I am away I will not be able to leave you comments this week

Take care and thanks so much for your visit

City Crafter 360

Good morning!

It's Tuesday and that means a new challenge over at

Where the lovely Stella is hosting for us and her challenge to us is

You Can Do It

Stella is asking that we make our own background...

...Using your inks, paints, markers etc., in your favourite colours and techniques

Well, you know I love to stencil but I chose to stamp for this challenge but I did use my favourite colours - blues and greens

And I had a little fun adding the word "enjoy" to a piece of acetate so it kind of sways

I used a new set of stamps (unknown make) given to me by a friend, and various inks. I've always wanted to try stamping a background but I never seem to get the proportions right but I'm pretty pleased with how this turned out.

The only down side is that I didn't used my Misti so the stamping is not as precise as it should be...

We'd love you take a minute to go see what the rest of the team have created up on the City Crafter Blog and hopefully play along with us this week.

Tomorrow I'll be on a plane heading off for  a week in the sunshine so I'll catch up with you all soon

Have a wonderful week...

Christening Card

Good morning!

I'm so glad that you enjoyed me sharing my little album yesterday ... Thank you so much for your comments

Today I have a christening card to share with you... My hubby's granddaughter (his eldest son's baby) is being christened on Sunday and yes, I am invited to this one ...You may remember that last year his daughter had her son christened and I was not invited, so to save any problems we are just going to the church service on Sunday and then coming home. It's a shame but I'm afraid his daughter has made it awkward for everyone...

Anyway here's the card I made for Felicity's special day

I confess I'm not in my comfort zone making special occasion cards... I'm happier with birthday and everyday cards... For this I started by blending (and water splattering)
inks onto a piece of CS and cut out some balloons and then some glitter hearts and stars

I was just going to attach them behind the heart but it seemed to me that it needed just a little something else and that when I decided to add some netting and popped it all up with foam tape

I computer generated that sentiment on the heart and then stamped and embossed the 'Hugs & kisses" in silver...

I'm linking this up to SSS Work it Wednesday Challenge

Have a beautiful day ...  I'm afraid it's wet and cold here

Something Special...

Hello there...

I'm not sharing a card today but I hope you don't mind me sharing something very special that I received on Monday

To give you a little background - Many years ago I was interested in my family tree...By chance I came across a book written about Wilkie Collins (Playwright author and best friend of Charles Dickens) and discovered my Great Great Grandmother Caroline was his partner...
I contacted the author of the book and cutting a very long story short I finally made contact with my Aunt's 2nd cousin Tim in Australia and his wife Jeanette who was a keen geneologist and had done tons of research. We corresponded for some time and then Tim sadly died and we lost touch...

Out of the blue, a month or so ago, Jeanette contacted me... Sadly she has some health issues and she asked me if I would like the heirlooms she held, belonging to my Grandmother and Great Aunts.
Of course I said yes and despite the cost I had them sent over...

What a treasure trove of things, including amazing jewellery and trinkets.... But by far, my favourite thing is this little album...

This is over 100 years old and is filled with memoirs, drawings and watercoloured paintings as well as photographs.

My Grandmother and her sisters were all Gaiety Girls and toured the UK starring in various shows... In the album are entries from many of the well known actors and actresses of the early 1900's...

Here's a peek at some of the pages

An entry by Gertie Miller

Entries from the cast of one of the shows together with a photo of the whole cast

The person referred to as Da is my G.Aunt Doris Beresford

The Iris referred to next to that beautiful painting is  my G. Aunt Iris

This pencil drawing is just stunning ... See the date? 1907

And one last painting and verse ....

I am just over the moon with this and there is so much more to go through...

I hope you enjoyed seeing these as much as I did

Till soon
