Thinking of you....

 Hello...

I've tried to write this post several times and then abandoned it.
Over the years my blog has been my diary of sorts... I've shared cards and handmade items, holidays and photos. Many fun times and some not so fun...

Today I have a card to share that was probably the hardest one I've had to make yet... Not because it was a difficult technique or anything like that, but simply because it is one I never envisaged having to make...

You see last week I got a call to say my friend Jeanie had passed away suddenly... Only a few weeks before I posted a photo of us together having met up by chance in Spain... I said it was one of the best things that happened and it was. I couldn't have known it was going to be the last time we would be together and laugh like crazy school girls as we always did when we were together...

My heart is broken, the loss is overwhelming but I do know that somewhere in heaven there's a party going on...

CAS Stencil Challenge

Hello...

What a beautiful day it is here... Sunshine and blue skies
Hubby is golfing and I'm doing housework.. As if!

I got around to finishing a card for the CAS Stencil Challenge

I had a leftover piece from a card I made Here
A distress inked background, splattered with water then stenciled over using translucent paste... I didn't want to waste that piece but I wanted it to look different from the original so I inked over the dry stenciling with Blueprint Sketch distress ink and this completely changed it.

I love the result, the way the colours altered... Much more vibrant than the original

I stamped, coloured and fussy cut the dragonfly and adhered it to the die cut reeds and there we are done!

Just before I go, my blog friend Sue Lelli asked me to share a photo of my Lilac in bloom so here it is

Have a great day and I'll catch up with you soon

CAS Watercolour Challenge

Hi there... How's it going?
Still raining here and no improvement in the temperatures either.

We're off to a funeral later so I have a little time to post my card for

Here's what I did

A Polar bear you say... Well, I do have teddy bear stamp but I just had this image of a happy Polar bear with magical snow...Kind of like Unicorn colours

Everything was painted with distress inks and I added glitter to the magical snow...
I've been watching every episode of 'Earth from Space'  It's amazing! You need to see it... So much of the natural world is at risk and who would have thought that satellites can help

So a happy Polar bear it is...

Enjoy your day and thanks for stopping by

CAS Mix Up

Hello and welcome...

I'm waiting for my brother to come over so I have a little time to post my card for this month's challenge at CAS Mix Up

I have never ever used baby wipes in crafting other than to clean up - I was familiar with baby wipes and re-inkers but not the technique using gloss photo paper

What? Come on!!
Why didn't I know about this before?? Heck I wouldn't have bought those alcohol inks and Yupo... I mean the results are amazing and it's so simple!

I used 3 distress inks... Blueprint, Citron and Squeezed Lemonade and I love the shine!
I didn't stamp over it but I did add a few white dots and an impression die to give the appearance of those leaves being blown

I stamped my sentiment onto Vellum using archival ink and clear embossed it - I couldn't bear to cover up those colours. I also dry embossed a frame just for a little more impact.
I will definitely be doing this again ... Thank you to the team for sharing this technique.

As always I wish you all a lovely day... It's still pretty cool here and we've had lots of rain but I'm staying positive Haha!

 Till soon

More Scraps

Good morning...

How's your week been?
I've spent a little time in the garden, doing repairs and weeding... The borders are filling out and the trees are a zillion shades of green...
I got some sad news this week ... A friend's husband passed away... Well, he was 96, but honestly never looked or seemed his age. My friend got Alzheimer's a few years back and boy did he take care of her... His passing was very sudden and in a way it's a blessing my friend really doesn't comprehend much at all and she is now seemingly happy in a nursing home.

So anyways... I have another card to share using even more bits...

The flower is from the set I mention in my previous post and it's stamped and embossed with clear E/P on a scrap of a leftover alcohol ink BG then fussy cut

Not like me to use DP but that checkered scrap was in with the bits and pieces... I have tons of unused DP and mostly bought it for doing the club classes ... You may also recognize the loom circle piece... It's half of the one I cut out for previous card

I hope you enjoy your day... The weekend is almost here....

Hugs

Blue and Yellow

Well here we are at the end of April...
My, that month went so very quickly but here's hoping that May will bring warm drier weather
My lilac tree is laden this year and so beautiful but the heavy rains left it looking like a weeping willow!

I've been making a few cards using up all the background pieces I have, some printed, some painted and some ink blended... Today's card uses scraps of ink blended pieces that I stamped flowers on

The circular loom is a die I've had for ever and I don't think I've used it before... I cut it from a piece of printed card and inlaid it back into the card by using acetate behind

The flower stamp is a set I picked up at The Works for £1 - I think they are so pretty and stamp really well but as there are no dies to go with them, I had to fussy cut them

I'll share some more soon...

I also wanted to that the teams at CAS Watercolour and CAS Stencil for the Outstanding design awards  this month... I don't enter many challenges but I do love the CAS ones.

My blog friend Pat also alerted me to a challenge over at
Pixie's Crafty Workshop
Where the challenge is to use up your bits or snippets so I'm going to enter this card there too.
Have a wonderful day/ evening
