Sketch & Paint

Hello there, I hope you are all doing well.

I'm thankfully lot more mobile than I was last week but maybe someone can tell me how it's possible to have a caught a cold when I haven't ventured out in weeks, if anything gets delivered like post or groceries, I wash my hands and sanitize each time... How is that possible? Another of life's mysteries.

I've a few more cards to share, though I feel more like hibernating than crafting lately, I'm longing for Spring. First up is a card for a blog friend who has been struggling with health issues and I'm hoping this will cheer her up a little

I like sketching these birds and dressing them, we have various ones visiting daily and I could watch them for hours

It's been so cold and we've see a few frosty mornings - Thankfully my next little bird was prepared for the ice...

...with her little skates

And my last card
One of the gifts I got for Christmas was a set of Cosmic Shimmer watercolour paints so I gave them a try  using my new Acquarello watercolour extra white 100% cotton by Fabriano.

Whilst the paint flows beautifully on this, the shimmer is not that evident when it dries..

And as you can see it's still not really 'white' but I still like it.

Before I go I just want to say a big thank you for all the birthday cards I've received... I haven't opened any yet, I'm keeping them until tomorrow.

Stay safe and well and thank you for visiting me today

Till next time

Two Fat Robins and more...

Hello and Happy New Year!

Sorry I'm late in my wishes and that I haven't been visiting you. As I mentioned previously I had a fall and tore my hamstring. It could have been a whole lot worse, no bones are broken anyway, but the bruising is extensive and painful and sleeping and sitting is...Uncomfortable.

I've been itching to paint some of the sketches I'd done, plus our wedding anniversary was yesterday and I needed some sort of card to give hubby so I gave it a go.

Not your traditional anniversary card but you know me... Two fat robins will do. We're in lock down once again so no doubt that's how we'll look come Spring.
This time I added some hills behind my painting using distress inks and torn paper

Not my best painting but Hubby was thrilled anyway.
I also did another one with birds

I love these guys in their shiny boots - the only downside is that the white Gouache I used turned a yellowish colour on my cardstock.

Okay... I'm going to try and catch up with you all

Have a lovely day

Goodbye 2020

Hello friends...

This is a really quick post just to wish you all a

Here's hoping 2021 will be a better one for all of us. Those we have loved and lost will not be forgotten and hopefully in the not too distant future we can hug those we have missed for so long.

Thank you all for your continued friendship throughout this year, your support and encouragement despite your own struggles, and for all the creative talent you have shared brightening what has been a very dark time.

I may not be blogging for a little while yet... Had a nasty fall and torn some leg muscles but it could have been a whole lot worse... and yes I was sober at the time haha!

Hugs to each and every one of you

Snow People

 Hello...

I hope this finds you all well.

The wonders of technology enabled us to go to a family members funeral this week. Obviously we couldn't travel to Cornwall and I am so grateful that a webcam allowed us to be there... We still have a lot to be thankful for.

This will be my last posting till after Christmas so I want to wish you all a blessed and beautiful Christmas. It will be very different for many of you I know... For us it will be the same, the 3 of us plus cats.

I'm leaving you with some of my own paintings of snow people

We probably won't be getting any snow for Christmas but I am hoping to see Jupiter and Saturn aligning tonight to create a Christmas star... Fingers crossed

Have a wonderful holiday, thank you for the lovely cards I've received, thank you for your incredible support and friendships

Be safe, be happy

Hugs

And then came Monday

Hello lovely friends, you really are the best...

Sorry I've been away a little while I just needed a few days to recharge. Since my last post we suddenly and tragically lost another family member and it kind of knocked the wind out of my sails. It's been a dreadful year for so many people, all we can do is look forward. So like Bridget Jones I put on my big girl panties, sorted out the problem in my last posting, decorated my home for Christmas and along came Monday...

The card I'm sharing today is a sympathy card

A few of you thought that the mountains I do are stenciled but I just do them with torn paper, starting at the top blending lightly down and I increase the pressure the further down I go.

The flowers I added to this card were some I had painted freehand and fussy cut. I added gloss to them and adhered them with foam tape. I confess I didn't have a lot of inspiration when I was making this so just went with the same branch and bird I have used several times. I watercoloured the little birdie and added some sparkle to the branches with gold Stickles.

I'm hoping to catch up with you all today and see what I've been missing.
Thank you for stopping by and for all your support...
Have a wonderful day

Birthday Blues

Hello friends... I hope this finds you well.

Birthday blues... Let me explain or rather rant a little (does me good). See today is a friends' birthday... Earlier in the week I made this card for her

Yes it took awhile - Lining up the cut out balloon shape behind the shaker part (which you can't really see), cutting sticky foam to place around the small shapes etc.,

I'd queued up to buy a gift card and flowers and made a lovely decorated envelope for the cards with ribbons and sparkles and her name cut out in gold glitter as she loves bling (sorry, I didn't photograph that)

This morning we went out in the pouring rain to deliver them... Actually I placed them in clear plastic covers and laid them on the step, rang the bell and stepped back. There was a brief exchange of words and I guess I expected a smile and a thank you for the effort, sorry we can't get together... Whatever. But I came away wondering why I bother. In fact the last few cards I've sent to family and friends have not even been acknowledged.
Sometimes it just makes me sad or maybe I'm just turning into a crotchety old lady Lol!

Anyway I hope you liked it...

Take care and thanks for stopping by
