CAS Stencil Challenge

Hello there...

The  CAS Stencil Challenge for February is to use powdered inks...

Sometime ago I was given a few Brushos and when I tried them I made such a horrible mess that I never bothered again... Well this time I watched the videos and gave it another try - I can't say that I had a great success - I definitely need more practice
Anyway, I did make a card... using a circle stencil from Memory Box and the negative or second part where you lay the wet stencil onto another piece of card and here's the result using 2 shades of green powders

It made me think of bubbles in water so for fun I die cut a seahorse using thick acetate...

The die left everything intact and just created an imprint which I cut around... and believe me at this time of year the sea and the beach are never more than a thought away...
At least the sun is shining right now...

Have a lovely Sunday

  2. This is lovely Ros.
I was like you with the Brushos. It was disaster after disaster!
My tendency to put on too much powder has been curbed by first practicing by wetting the paper then adding the Brushos - you then get an idea of how much you really should be using rather than big blobs of powder and pools of colour everywhere!
I am still not perfect but it helped me realise that less certainly is more when it comes to using them!

  5. I adore the acetate seahorse over your pretty green Brusho stencilled background Ros, and I love the die cut shape which works well, and the sentiment is perfect. It has been sunny here in the south west today and no rain at all, but the wind has been icy. x

  7. Your Brusho background is wonderful, Ros! Sometimes my attempts at Brusho turns into a brown puddle in the middle of the paper, and other times it plays nice. Your two greens really played nice for you and the circle stencil, it's a fabulous background for that wonderfully intricate seahorse!

  11. Beautiful background that does remind me of the sea! Love the sea horse in acetate! Yes, at this ttime of year I’m thinking of the sea and warmer weather. But, it willl be a few more months. We just got more snow last night... just a couple inches. It’s a good thing that our dog loves going outside! Take care and have a great week!

  16. I'm glad you tried again, Ros, because you've made one of the best Brusho backgrounds I've ever seen! The colors are so warm and cozy and so perfect with that ethereal bubbly seahorse cut from acetate. I need to see some videos on die-cutting acetate; every time I try it doesn't quite cut through. And that unique die cut is out-of-this-world cool!! Hugs, Darnell

  17. Another masterpiece!! Love the seahorse...I just purchased a seahorse stamp and love it! I was working on a card for this challenge, but so far it has gone in the trash...not giving up though, if mine could turn half as good as yours I would be happy!!
