Around the World

 Hello there...

It's been a busy week so far, always something that needs attention. It started early Monday morning with a visit to the eye hospital with hubby who thought he was having an operation but it turned out to be laser treatment to relieve the pressure in one eye (the second one to be done at a later date). It's been an ongoing issue over the years and as he has impaired hearing he doesn't always understand what is happening so I spend a lot of time at appointments with him. I find sitting around doing nothing more exhausting than when I'm busy doing something.

I did get to some time to myself to make a few cards though, which are for friends. First up is a painted line drawing I did with a French theme

I drew the girl, quite rough but I like it. The Eiffel tower is digital from a free colouring page which I downloaded and then added line drawing to it. The pen lines stop the printer ink from bleeding into the paint.

The second one is more Oriental

The only stamps used were the sentiment and the little bird

I've got a few things to take care of today but I hope to be able to stop by your blogs soon.
As always, thank you for your lovely comments, be safe be well and enjoy your day

Fairies

Hello and good morning...I hope you are well

The sun came up early this morning but it's still really cold outdoors. Today I'm sharing a couple of my own sketches, the fairies.

This little guy I call Buckley

I wonder what he's thinking looking out across the city.

The first time I painted him, I just couldn't get the wings to have that ethereal look that I wanted...

So I started again and used a digital file to print the wings onto vellum. I used a cityscape die to make a stencil for the background and a Lavinia stamp for the stairway plus a couple of branch stamps

Then there's Pepper

With her flaming locks and a temperament to match

They are all real to me and I make them faceless for 2 3 reasons - 1. It's really hard to draw a face on my tiny sketches 2. It leaves more to the imagination and 3. I like doing hair. Lol!

Finally I have a card I did ages ago but never got around to sharing

It's a little ode to all those unwanted strays out there...

Well that's me for today...

Enjoy your weekend

The Gull is Back

 Hi there...

I bet you thought you'd never see me playing with the Gull stamps again (MFT)... I had a blast when I first got them. Since then I've had a real purge of my craft stuff, but the gulls are definitely still one of 'My Favourite Things'

They came in handy for the birthday card I'm sharing today... As you may remember, we lost 2 of our Cornish cousins last year (brother and sister) but we still have Peter, the baby of the family and he's about to celebrate his 60th birthday.

As he happens to be captain of the ship sailing between Cornwall and the Scilly Isles, the gull seemed the most appropriate

The frames aren't wonky - It's actually a window card (acetate free)

I like making this style and I'm sure he will love it

How are you all doing?  Heck the weather is crazy, from sunshine to snow. Stay well and safe and have a great day

Till soon

Here For You

 Good morning...
I hope you enjoyed the Easter weekend and maybe some chocolate?

When I lost my best friend 18 months ago, I kept in touch with her niece and right now she's going through a really rough patch so today's card is one I made for her.

It also has a little paper piecing so I'm sharing at the CAS Mix Up Challenge

I drew the little bird and painted her with watercolours. The boots are a digital stamp which I paper pieced

... and covered in dimensional gloss. The umbrella was die cut first from card, then from the same paper as the boots

The hills as always, were done with torn paper and black soot distress ink and the sentiment from a very old set by Precious Rememberance was stamped and embossed

I'm kinda sorry to part with her but I know she will bring a little cheer to my friend

Well the sun has made an appearance - it's really cold, but still it looks beautiful outside

Have a lovely day and stay well

Poppies & Poinsettia

 Hello and good morning!

The last few days the weather has been glorious but I'm afraid we are on the turn again...Hubby got to play his first game of golf this week since lockdown and I don't know who enjoyed it more, me or him Lol!

Today I have a few cards for you... I came across some lovely digital stamps on Etsy (Here's the link in case you are interested)... Anyway I bought a couple including the lovely slimline floral which I think are poppies? And made this card

I didn't make a slimline, just printed the image on cardstock to fit my usual size cards and painted it

This is going to a friend and I know she will like it

I also used up the remaining pieces of the poinsettias from my this post to make a few more shaker cards

They're quick and simple but effective.
That's it for today, I hope you have a beautiful Easter... Stay well

Till soon

More Easter Cards

 Hello friends

Here we are on the first day of Spring and it's raining and windy...Never mind, I'm optimistic that the days will get better.

I've some more Easter cards to share, normally my friends and I don't send Easter cards but we aren't living in normal times so it's my way of saying I'm thinking of you...

And given that it's Easter, it wouldn't be fair not to include some of my ducks now would it, so I drew and painted a couple

This one is a slider (as per Jennifer McGuire) and has an open front window

No acetate was needed and when the card is open it looks like this

The second one also has an open window but it's not a slider

and the inside...

And finally...

... An Easter bunny card

That's me for today... I hope you enjoy your Sunday
