Beautiful Birthday

There are quite a few celebration coming up in the next few weeks ... As you know it was my son's birthday yesterday and tomorrow New Years Eve my friends' daughter celebrates her 25th birthday ... My friend had given up hope of ever becoming a mother ... when 16 years after she married along came her beautiful daughter ... We both know how blessed we are to have been given the chance of motherhood that one time ...
This is the card I've made for that special daughter

TH embossing folder ... Memory Box border die ... prima flowers and papers from Prima and Grace Taylor

I found a whole box of those pretty glittered metal frames in my cupboard would you believe ...
My sentiment is computer generated and the lovely ribbon is from The Ribbon Girl

Have you plans for New Year Eve celebrations?? We will be going to a dinner dance at my husband golf club ... New Year Eve is always quite difficult for me ... it's the day I lost my Mum and the years have flown by ... At the time you just wonder how you will get through the next day ... and before you know it ... 10 years have gone by

Have a wonderful day - glad you could stop by

Make a Wish

Hello sweet friends ...
How are you?
I am on the mend ... I was able to cook our Christmas dinner and it was such a lovely day ...
I am taking things easy as I know I am not back to full health yet ... This is the second bout of flu I've had in as many months ... But it seems that in 2013 I qualify for the flu jab ... so here's hoping I wont catch it again for a while ...

Tomorrow is a special day ... my beautiful son reaches 30 ... I can hardly believe it ... seems only yesterday he was a little boy ..  full of life and constantly on the go ... I've watched him change from a blond little bundle of energy ... to a tall dark handsome young man and every memory is etched on my heart ...
This is the card I made for him....

I stamped a Happy Birthday sentiment in Versamark and embossed it using clear embossing powder onto black paper ... backed it with paper from PaperMania ...

I rolled some little candles with some scrap paper and added string for the wicks ... The sentiment is computer generated and the bow I cut by hand ...

You know he loves his cats ... Gipsy and our new addition Ginger ... so I had to add these little guys to the inside

The weather here is so very dull and drab ... miserable is probably the right word ... I am so looking forward to Spring ...

Have yourselves a wonderful day ... Thanks so much for all your lovely comments

Till soon

Papercraft Star "Snow"

Hello ...
Todays post has been scheduled ... what with Christmas and me not being too well ...
Did you have a lovely Christmas?
I do hope so ... all that preparation and it's over in a flash

Our new challenge at Papercraft Star begins this week for any of you who are looking to escape into the sanctuary of your craft room ... Our theme this week is
"Snow"

Don't you just love it when it's all fresh and clean like this ... not so when you have to drive in it though huh?

My card is made with all digital papers and the gorgeous image is a freebie from Here

I used Stickles to glitter the snow and cut some snowflakes from felt
I love the softness of this image

I hope you can take a moment to check out the projects from the rest of our team and maybe find some time to join in with us this week ...
I'll be back later in the week ... have a lovely Boxing Day

All I want for Christmas

Hi there!
Have you heard the saying "No good deed goes unpunished"
Well, it seems to be the case for me ... Having only been home a few days after caring for my Aunt ... I am down with the flu! And I have an ulcerated throat which is so very painful ..
I have spent the last few days in my bed with a temperature and feeling very rough ...
I think I managed to get everything done for Christmas though ... presents are all done and delivered to various homes ... So all I want for Christmas is to be well

 I have some more happy mail to share with you

These handmade gifts came from my lovely blog friend Keren who called in to see me a few days ago ... Raspberry and orange curd... Delicious! ... Christmas must be such fun in her home ... 5 children of various ages ... what could be better!
Thanks so much Keren

And this arrived from my sweet friend Lauren

How I loved that suzy snowflake card when Lauren posted it for Jingle Belles challenge! I can't believe I own it! And whilst I am looking forward to opening this gift ... I'm not sure I can bear to break into that lovely wrapping ... another peek at suzy snowflake

Thank You Lauren!

Ok if I am going to be allowed downstairs for Christmas I need to get my rest ... so I'll keep this short ... but one other thing I want to show you are these shoes

They are paper weights! A gift that was given to my Aunt last week ... They are about 5'' in size and just so very cute!

I promise I will try and get to visit you all soon ...

Have a beautiful day

Home and Happy Mail

Hello there!
Well I'm back home and in the midst of Christmas preparations ...
I have spoken to my Aunt a lot since I came home ... checking she is ok and so far she is doing fine ... people are popping in and out to see her so I know she is not alone And whilst I was with her I taught her how to shop online for her groceries ... she is so clever for a lady of almost 86 ... and had 2 deliveries through the week so is now quite confident ... She is brilliant with her iPad.

I arrived home late Tuesday evening to a home full of beautiful roses ... I was missed! And my hubby had even put up the Christmas lights on the house with a few decorations inside too ... So lovely ...
Yesterday was spent making more cards, writing and posting them and wrapping some presents ... Then I put up the tree in the evening ... Now it's feeling like Christmas!

I did a few CAS cards that more importantly are flat so I can mail them at the normal rate

It has not stopped raining here so the photos are not too good ...

I also came home to some Happy Mail ... The gifts will go under the tree

Thank you Kirsty!!!

Thank you Linda!!!

And some beautiful cards ....

From Ira ... Thank you!

... And this beauty is from Barbara ... Thank you!

I'll share some more when I can photograph them ... You guys are the best ...

I truly appreciate all my friendships with you lovely bloggers ... throughout the last couple of weeks your words and kindness have touched my heart

Have a beautiful day

Going Home and Tears for Connecticut

Hello ...

I know it's Tuesday which usually see me sharing my DT project for City Crafter Challenge ... But we are taking a 2 week break so the new challenge will be starting on New Years' Day.

 The time has come for me to leave Lincoln for a while ... I am travelling back home today ... bittersweet ... I have to leave my Aunt and the beautiful countryside but I will get to see my son and husband and of course my cats ... I can't say I am looking forward to all the work that awaits me though!

I thought I'd share just a few photos I took whilst staying here ...

The view from my window ... a cold and frosty morning ... I saw a fox walk by but he didn't stay long enough for me to photograph him

and when the sun comes out

... we get a beautiful sunset

I couldn't end this post without mentioning the dreadful events in Connecticut ...

My heart is heavy with your loss and my sympathies are with everyone that has been affected ...

There are some things in this world that we can never begin to understand yet we cannot live in fear nor let our children live in fear ...
Many hearts will never mend from this atrocity ... Lives will be changed forever ... so many victims ...
Stay strong and in doing so you do not allow yourself to be another one of his victims ...
Choose to be a survivor ...
~~~
Have a wonderful day and please note that there will be no new challenge at Papercraft Star either this week ... our new challenge begins 26th December
Is it Friday?
Hi there!
I'm kinda lost with the days here ... In fact sitting in my Aunts cosy little home in the peacefulness ... The rain lashing on the windows and the cat's gentle breathing as she sleeps next to me, I could be forgiven for forgetting that in 10 days time it will be Christmas Eve!
At home I would be in the hustle and bustle of the Christmas shoppers ... panicking about what I have and haven't got ... but that can all wait until next week....
My best gift this year has been having this time with my Aunt and seeing her getting stronger each day
I have a few more tags to share ... I made them yesterday whilst she slept
I cut out the pockets on my Cameo before I came here... printed the tags on my computer and cut them with a sizzix die tags
Just little pieces of papers to decorate and some holly leaves and berries
A whole big spray of the holly and berries only cost me £1.50 from Wilkinson's Store and I can make heaps of things with one spray ...
Ok so maybe the leaves are a bit big but I think these will look really pretty on the present I haven't got yet ... Lol! Well I have got some but there are quite a few yet to buy ... No doubt come the day I will be organised ... I hope!
I hope you are having a lovely day wherever you are ... Thanks for stopping by
Till soon
Christmas Tree
Hello ....
It's a happy day today because I have my Aunt safely back home ... I know it will take a while before she is fully fit but just being together is wonderful!
Today is also a new challenge at Papercraft Star and this week we are asking that you create a project that includes a Christmas Tree
Easy huh?
I just had to make one of those little folded trees ...
I used some lovely paper from Astrid for my background and folded the tree using vellum which I gave a generous coating of glitter and mica flakes
I'm not sure if you can notice ... but I printed that paper twice and cut out some of the flowers and used foam dots to adhere them and give some dimension ... and then lots of liquid pearls
I even put liquid pearls on that little reindeer! The stars were cut using a Sizzix die and some glitter paper from Papermania
My team mates have some more samples for you ... just head on over to the blog ...
We look forward to seeing your creations this week
Thanks so much for stopping by and thank you for all your lovely lovely comments ... my Aunt and I are so grateful for your well wishes
Have a beautiful day
Snowman fun
Hello and good morning to you ...
Well my Aunt was not discharged yesterday and she was so disappointed .. So was I ... I've been here on my own for a week now ... But we are expecting that today will be the day - God willing...
Where I am in Lincoln is just down the road from home of the the famous Red Arrows aerobatics team
So I am fortunate to be treated to a display every morning... They are incredible!
I have my DT project  to share for this weeks' challenge over at City Crafter where the lovely Charlene hosting for us ... Charlene is asking that we create a card or project that
includes a Snowman and use Non traditional colours
For my card I used an image of "The"Snowman ... who doesn't love that guy
And I framed him using a chipboard frame which I covered with text paper from Pink Petticoat and sprinkled with glitter
The wood effect background paper is from Docrafts Wellington range and on top of that is DP by Grace Taylor ... definitely neither are traditional Christmas papers!
You've seen this holly stamp before (PaperMania) but this time it is stamped onto blue paper from my scraps
A Prima flower, some Stickles and liquid pearls complete the look
The rest of the team have some lovely samples for you so hop on over the the blog and take a look ...
See you there!
Have a beautiful day
Little house
Hello there ...
I hope you are well and had a good weekend ...
I am really hoping that my Aunt may be allowed home either today or tomorrow ... keep your fingers crossed for us ...
She has made such good progress and wants to be home now. Yesterday when I was at the hospital  a frail old lady passed away ... It was so sad and makes me even more grateful that my Aunt is recovering.
Before I came to Lincoln I made a little house box for my Aunt ... I like to make these at Christmas but I didn't have time to photograph it before I had to leave home so my photos are not marvellous ... I don't have an editing program on my laptop ... But here it is
I hand cut the house using a template by Lauren Meader which she designed for PTI a long time ago and embossed card stock with my TH folder to which I applied Antique linen distress ink first
The windows and door I cut on the Cameo and backed with some acetate (that had a criss cross pattern on) and some red paper from MME
The roof was covered in self adhesive fabric by Papermania ... covered in various buttons and a generous helping of both mica flakes, glitter and white flower soft
The roof lifts off ...
And I thought you may like to see the little lady who has kept me company all week ... meet Sheba
Ok ... I have a lot to do now so I'll bid you a wonderful day ... I'll be back tomorrow with my DT project for City Crafter ...
Thanks so much for visiting me and for all your prayers
Till soon
~ Ros ~
