Birthday Girl

Hi there....Are you well?
I haven't had any inclination to make cards lately, instead I've started sewing again and so far have made 3 tops, 2 pairs of pants, a maxi skirt and a sundress... Can you tell that we're off on holiday soon Lol!
I took the plunge and booked us a week in Spain right by the beach - I so need a break.
My GP has given me some knock out tablets to take for the flight in the hope I won't struggle with RLS so fingers crossed....
Mojo or not, I had to make a card today... It's a dear friends' birthday this week - A big one, and I was under strict instructions not to put her age on the card Lol!

I pulled out all those left over painted pieces I hoard and stamped embossed and die cut till I got something I was happy with

And made the inside a pop up

...Of dancing butterflies suspended on strips of acetate

It took me hours to make and I can't see my mojo returning anytime soon either.
Ah well... I'll keep on sewing

Have yourselves a lovely evening/day

Black Cat

Hello and welcome to my blog

Thank you for all your lovely comments, my previous post was scheduled and just as well as I have not been too well too. Lunch date with my GF's had to be cancelled as two of us were ill. There are a lot of coughs and colds going around and my brother and SIL are both sick.
But... I'm feeling a whole lot better and looking forward to visiting your blogs to see what I've missed.

I haven't made any cards for awhile... I've actually been doing some sewing, but I do have one to share that is made from more scraps

Believe it or not, those embossed and painted leaves are actually green... For some reason they photograph yellow... I painted them with Zigs some time ago and used it as a background for this card

The rather large black cat was a Cameo cut out, left over from one of the Thursday Club projects.

I didn't create it for anything special, but my dear friend is having to say goodbye to her beloved cat this week... Poor baby has been sick for some time and it will be a devastating blow to my friend... Maybe this card was meant especially for her...

Well I'm anxious to visit your blogs, plus I have to go get a new printer... Mine suddenly packed in... Funny how they work one day then you switch on the following day and poof! Nothing!

Have yourselves a wonderful day ... Spring is close by

Till soon

March Reminder CAS Watercolur Challenge

Hi there...

Heck, we are halfway through March already... Can you believe it?

We are also halfway through the month long challenge at

CAS Watercolour Challenge

Where Birgit and I are both guest designing...

Here's my card for the reminder

I took full advantage of the curling vellum to make those pretty butterflies, stamped and embossed and painted with distress inks

The butterflies are from Clearly Besotted and I stamped 4 half butterflies, fussy cut them and painted all 4. It's much easier to fussy cut vellum I find.

To get the sparkle on the letters, I first stamped and embossed a piece of card with a 'sea waves' stamp (Aliexpress) and then cut the letters... It gives a nice random pattern.

Hop on over to the blog to see what the rest of the team have created to inspire you ...

A huge Thank You to the team for having me as a guest this month
Enjoy your day

Ghosting

Hello and welcome...

I am overwhelmed by how many of you left me messages, comments and advice about RLS... Thank You! Some I have already tried I will definitely give the others a go.

It's been very cold and wet, hailstones and high winds but though it's still cold, the sun is shining today... Such crazy weather!

Today I have a card to share using another (new to me) technique, ghosting, which is the requirement over at

I tried this various ways but decided that I preferred the baby wipe method used on ink blending

I used 2 blue Distress Inks for the background, faded jeans and blue print plus a stencil that was gifted to me years ago

I was just going to add the grass die cut at the bottom but I decided that it needed something more so added the flower stem which was also ink blended.

It's a cool technique, easy to do and gives a little something extra to a blended background so I'll definitely try it again.

Have yourselves a lovely day and thanks for stoppping by

Scrap Card

Hello there...

How are you all? I've had a few sleepless nights and feel shattered. I suffer from restless leg syndrome and it drives me insane...
My doctor recently gave me some tablets to induce sleep which do help but if any of you have any tips or tricks let me know. I've tried just about everything over the years and haven't travelled on an airplane for almost a year because it is so bad.

Anyway you don't come here to listen to my moaning Lol... So today I am sharing another card made from some scraps

Bits of alcohol ink pieces cut into balloons, a spare die cut frame and a piece of multi embossed card die cut (partially)  using the cityscape die

I don't think I'll ever get around to using all my scraps but they do make for an unusual card don't they

I hope your day is going well... enjoy the upcoming weekend

Till soon

Magical

Hello and welcome...

Today's card is for the CAS Mix Up Challenge

I've only played there a few times and yet they are celebrating their 3rd birthday!
Happy Birthday and many thanks to the team who bring amazing challenges every month.

As you can see, this month we are being challenged to do the faux stained glass technique, something I have never done before. Honestly? I really wasn't a fan, though I love colourful sun catchers so thought I'd try and make something on that idea....

I wanted it colourful and rough and I surprised myself... It was so easy. I used acetate from packaging and various copics to add a mish mash of colour

Then die cut the circle frame twice and embossed the top one in different colour embossing powders - slotted everything back together, omitting the original circles, and roughly covered all the acetate with Mod Podge dimensional gloss. I also die cut a sentiment and embossed it the same way, adding copic and gloss covered acetate for the star
My stamping is the flourish, also embossed.

So there you go, that's my colourful, rough version of faux glass and I quite like it.

Have a happy day

Rainy Monday

Hello there...

I hope you had a good weekend...
Whilst I was going through some bits last week to make cards, I came across a piece I painted probably sometime early last year... Anyway I made it into a card

I used my Gansai Tambi paints and I suppose I thought is was too much... I usually have more empty space, but I just got carried away

Revisiting it, I like it more now than I did... Crazy!

It's a very dull and wet day and I decided to sort out some cupboards in my kitchen... Why am I keeping stuff that has never seen the light of day in years? Well not anymore... I'm slowly getting around to decluttering everywhere! Well... When I'm not creating or sewing or crocheting or visiting your blogs which I am just about to do now...

Have a great day

CAS Watercolour Challenge March

Hello and welcome...

I'm thrilled to be guesting over at the CAS Watercolour Challenge this month where the challenge this time is to watercolour on vellum

Up on the blog there are some video links to help and inspire you along with wonderful cards created by the team.

Here's what I did

I stamped and heat embossed my leaves first and then used distress inks to paint them and even added some splatters
It's not as difficult as you may think, in fact I found it very therapeutic to do. Yes, the vellum can curl when it gets wet but you can use this to your advantage

... Like I did here - I stamped, painted and fussy cut one leaf and I love the curl on this and the clean fresh look that the vellum offers.

I hope you'll take a minute to check out the cards from the team and maybe give this a go

Thanks so much to the team for having me this month and thanks to you for popping in

Enjoy your day!

Welcome Spring

Happy March
and
Happy St David's Day

A leek is the traditional emblem for St David's Day celebrated by the Welsh, but more often than not many people recognise the daffodil - I have no Welsh ancestry but I did make a card...

... from some of my scraps. I love putting little bits together - all I had to make for this was the pot

And I stamped and embossed the sentiment....

We've enjoyed a few really warm days this past week... So unusual for this time of year but very welcome. Ginger cat thought summer had arrived but it's raining today and he's so disappointed...

I hope you are enjoying your day... The weekend will soon be here

Take care

~ Ros ~
