Just for Fun

Hello friends... Happy Halloween!

I tell 'ya... If you read the news everything is so depressing, heck you would go crazy! Sadly I just heard that Sean Connery passed away, one of my all time favourite actors. He was 90 but in my head he will always be that handsome James Bond...

So how about something amusing just to lighten everything... I was watching Ceecee's video, the one of her painting her little characters and as you know, I like to paint flowers and mushrooms so I thought I'd bring them to life - Just for fun

This mushroom guy looks like he has plenty of female company swooning over him

I didn't draw the caterpillar by the way, he was a stamp that I added a few stripes to

Of course there had to be a lady mushroom...

...along with her kiddies who are quite shocked by that spotty caterpillar
Not sure if you can see her glittery eyeliner to match her glittery earrings

Drawing faces is not my forte but I really had fun doing these and it took me away from all that stuff that makes me miserable...
I hope they make you smile too

Have a good day whatever you plan to do and stay well...
Till soon...

Deer

Hello there.. I hope you are doing okay, keeping safe and warm

My friend and neighbour has come down with the virus, though it just seems like a heavy cold with none of the known symptoms which is quite scary. She obviously caught it from a work colleague even though they are meticulous about the rules. I'm just glad to be retired, though I sometimes wonder how I fitted so much in before the pandemic... Now I'm home most of the time, just grocery shopping when necessary, and yet the days fly by...

Today I have some deer cards to share

I love doing those mountains, can't you tell? The deer I used for both cards is a digital freebie I found on the computer

The good thing about using digital images is that you can make them any size you want and flip them so they face either way

I do the ink blending first and then figure out where I want the deer to be before running my card through the printer... Sometimes I'm a little off but it's fine as I can take a wet paint brush and just fill in the areas. Then I stamp, emboss and paint the foliage (and ornaments).

... A little glitter and some rhinestones and that's it... IRL they are really sparkly - I love sparkle a Christmas

I'm glad that lots of you enjoyed the video I shared, thanks for your feedback.

Have a lovely day and thanks so much for your visit

Just Two Cards

 Hello!

It's a wet and cold Sunday morning and the clocks have gone back an hour which means I should have had an extra hour in bed this morning but try telling the cats that... Feeding time does not alter as far as they are concerned.

I have made a few cards recently - Well the nights will be drawing in now so I have to make the most of the daylight. First another Christmas card

This was put together from bits I had

It's meant to resemble a bauble but somehow I keep seeing a Christmas pudding Lol!

My second card comes from my heart with the help of a Lavinia stairway stamp, distress oxides, watercolour paints and a little skteching

It's my (often) longing for that peaceful faraway place where I can just breathe

The well trodden steps can take me wherever my imagination wants to be. Sometimes a little escape is good for the soul especially with all the noise and madness around us during these times.

My brother Ron regularly takes me to places with his drone skills. A few times a month he sends me videos to brighten my days... Last week it was the Lake District - A beautiful part of my country. If you have a couple of minutes to spare, maybe you would like to watch

I hope this link works

Enjoy your day my friends

Paint and Stencil

 Hello there friends...

Another week is almost over and not much to report which I suppose is a good thing. Hubby and I did go for a walk down by the river the other day, it was quite busy and very blustery, not that it bothered these guys

So today I have a couple of cards to share... A Christmas card

...Using a stencil for the background and I painted the stamped image
You can see the touches of glitter, though you can't see the sparkle...

...or how the gold painted bell gleams

And I also have a sketched and painted card I did just because...

The only thing I didn't sketch is the little snail... he was a £1 stamp from Lavinia though I did add some dots to his shell

I do hope you are all well... Stay safe

Time passes...

 Hello Friends...

I hope this finds you well... Not much has altered here, we still have a lot of people hospitalized from the virus with more and more cases every day. Sadly the Mayor of the city lost his brother yesterday from Covid.
On the bright side, I saw this on F/B and it made me laugh out loud

For those of you who don't understand...  Football is huge in this city with rivalry from our 2 premier league teams Liverpool and Everton  - The latter have normally been the underdogs but suddenly they are topping the league and despite our semi lockdown, the new Batman movie is being filmed in the city and Batman was indeed on top of the Liver Building

This city still has it's sense of humour, nothing can take that away

Craft wise I don't have much to share with you other than a tag I painted

It's a year since I lost my best friend and the tag is for the flowers her niece has put on the grave for me.
Time passes...

We are all living a different life from a year ago but the small things keep us going, make us chuckle and keep hope alive so here's one more to make you smile

Enjoy your day and be safe

More Christmas Cards

 Good morning...

I'm a little fed up this morning, my city is in another lockdown as Covid rates are soaring... Not surprising really when you see how many people have a blatant disregard for others, no masks and no distancing. The supermarket staff here are not allowed to challenge shoppers who don't wear masks for fear of abuse. Heck the money these organizations are making they could employ proper door staff. My husband's daughter and her family have all caught the virus but they are doing okay. Anyway...

I have another Christmas card to share... I actually made a bunch of these. When I made the 'tone on tone' card I posted at CAS Mix Up here

I wondered if using the same technique and colour (Iced Spruce) would work for a Christmas card.

I used a different stencil and of course Christmas stamps and sentiment this time, and drew around the triangle

The stamp uncoloured really didn't look right so I painted it, using the same distress ink, and added red liquid pearls for the berries
I think it works... What do you think?
Quick and easy to do and my desk isn't cluttered with a million things which is always a bonus.

Have yourselves a wonderful day... Thanks for your visit

Christmas Cards

I know! Don't faint, but I've actually made a start on Christmas cards..

Hello, from a very wet Liverpool.
It's been a wet and windy few days and not really good for trying to take photos of cards but I've
done my best

These were pretty quick to make which is how I like things. Stenciled backgrounds varying the colours
the trees die cut and embossed, the sentiment embossed. I like to mix powders to give different looks and the trees were done using a mix of silver, gold and a sparkly one called 'under the sea'.

depending on the light, they twinkle different colours

The stencil is one by Nellies Choice and was on sale at Crafts4Less.
It's an A6 stencil so I just used part of it.

I even made some postbox cards

These are very sparkly though it's difficult to capture that. The postbox was a digital one
that I altered to make it look more "British'

Before I leave you to enjoy your weekend I just wanted to share a photo of my Gingerboy, I bought him a new cat chair/bed which he absolutely loves! Turned out he's far too big and far too heavy for it so he tipped out a couple of times  - The second time the chair landed on top of him and he looked like a turtle which made me laugh, though he was not happy. Now I've used my dumbbells to secure it for the time being.

Have a wonderful weekend and thanks so much for your visit

Till soon

Tone on Tone

 Hello friends...

It's been a while since my last post - A week ago I had the flu jab and woke up the next day feeling dreadful. It lasted quite a few days but I'm fine now. My husband didn't have any problems after his jab but I know of a few people who were so bad they were given Covid tests. Thankfully I didn't have any Covid symptoms which is great considering we have been classed as a high risk area now...

I had intended to post this a little earlier but it's just been one of those days,
the printer kept chewing up paper, my camera didn't want to cooperate and worst of all - I realised (too late) that I hadn't put the slow roast in the oven.. Hey ho

I needed a thank you card this week so to kick start me
I turned to the new challenge at

CAS Mix Up

Here's my take on Viv's Tone on Tone challenge

I only used one distress ink - Iced Spruce which I blended lightly through a die cut triangle
and then used a stencil by Dutch Doobadoo over the top

The sentiment and the leaves were stamped with Versafine ink and embossed
with clear embossing powder.

Thanks so much for your visit - Be safe
