Gifts and the Naughty Cat

A few weeks ago my SIL saw a little padded note board she liked ...
It was quite expensive at £15 and it was only small .... so I volunteered to make her one ... She has a birthday coming up soon so this will be part of her present

I used a canvas frame for the base ... larger than the one she saw in the shop ... added some batting and a pretty fabric I bought on Ebay

Actually it was quite easy once I got going ... the staple gun came in handy and the hardest part was arranging the ribbon strips and stitching down the buttons

There was a little fabric over and a small piece of ribbon left so I made her a Post It note holder

That took longer to make than the board!

I just hope she likes it ...

Whilst I was sitting here this morning writing comments ... my cat Gispy had sneaked in - she thought I didn't know she was behind the curtains ... she loves netting and chews great holes in it

Every picture tells a story ......

Have yourselves a lovely day

Till soon

True Love Story

Hello!

I hope you had a great weekend and a good start to your week ...
Things are settling down here .. DH is doing well though still unable to do anything (or see anything) but the consultant is pleased with how the operation went ...

I was unable to join in with Our Beautiful World last Sunday and I really missed it ...

But I'm not going to miss out on the City Crafter Challenge where our hostess this week is the lovely Kirsty

The theme is Love Story
The challenge ... Make a Valentines project or use the word Story

This is a Valentine's card for my DH

I really love grey card stock - it blends so well with any colour - I paired this with some aqua paper from American Crafts ...  the words are cut from the paper

The side piece with the words "i love you" is another piece of the canvas from my redundant picture - told you I would be using this a lot

I had the wooden word "Love" but the little wooden heart is from a pack my friend Stella sent me ... it's so cute! And the gems from Freckled Fawn couldn't have blended better

Our Guest Designer this week is Tenia Nelson who won our challenge in week 192 ... She has a wonderful style ... please hop over to her blog and take a look

This week's winner will also have a GD spot with us so come and join us and don't forget to go visit CCCB and check out the beautiful creations from the rest of our DT

Thanks so much for stopping by and for your support to my DH and myself

Have a beautiful day

Busy Times

Hello sweet friends

It's been a busy stressful week and more to come ...
But first I have a card to share that I made a couple of days ago for this week's
CAS-Ology challenge

This is virtually all digital ... I have been trying to learn some techniques in Print Shop and that fragmented and bubble edge effect of the digital paper is one of them

The butterfly is a PTI die and I used distress inks to colour it ...
As for Contrast, well, I have different fonts in the sentiment, Colour contrasts, and then the straight lines against the fragmented and bubble effects ...

In case you are interested, this is how the digital paper looked prior to using various techniques

The sentiment is quite apt for me at the moment so I am entering it at

Yesterday my DH had surgery to remove scar tissue from the back of his eye ... his vision was really bad and being very deaf does not help!
Oh the joys of getting old ...

Anyway he was extremely nervous ... more so than when he had his cataracts done ... As it turned out it was a blessing in disguise as they discovered a hole in the retina ... They repaired it but it means that he has to stay sitting in an upright position with his head still for a while ... Maybe 2 weeks - He's allowed up for 10 minutes in every hour to prevent blood clots ...

Needless to say I am running around and administering Meds so if I don't get to visit your blogs for a while ... please bear with me.

I am thrilled at all the lovely comments I received on my Candle Jar - Thanks so much!! It really means a lot ...

Lastly a Big Thank You to my sweet friend Kirsty who sent me this lovely gift and stunning card

A gorgeous tin filled with beautiful postcards and envelopes

I'm one lucky girl

Thanks for looking in on me today ...

Till soon take care

Candle Jar

Hello everyone...

Today at City Crafter we have a brand new challenge for you and our host this week is the lovely Wendy ...
This will be Wendy's last challenge for us ... sadly she has decided to step down from the DT at the end of the month...

This week the theme is

The Key To My Heart

And Wendy is asking that we create a card or project that includes a key and a heart
Our Guest designer this week is our winner from week 190... Cataleya ... Her work is awesome ... hop over and take a look

I loved this challenge - Keys and Hearts and I'm there! And as you know I love candle jars ... so this week I made one of my own

Usually the ones you buy are only decorated on one side ... if they are on the dining table only one person benefits so I decorated on both sides ...

My jar is recycled ... I keep nearly all my jars and the 'labels' are also recycled ... bet you can't guess where they are from?

No? Well I had this really big canvas picture in my home ... it was wasn't a picture of one thing ... more squares and rectangles of different images ... Alas the frame has warped and I couldn't bear to part with it ... so I removed the whole canvas from the wooden frame and I'm using it in different creations ... this is just one

The canvas cuts easily and I used the cut out hearts there too ... I glued them to card first to make them more solid ... The rubon words are from my stash but the little key and the pearl are from a cheap charm bracelet

A lid? Yep, there's a lid too

I sprayed it first in silver, added a cut out circle of canvas and a recycled flower from a hairband

I loved making this and I'm also entering it in this months challenge at
and at

We're really looking forward to seeing your projects at City Crafter this week ... Valentine's Day is approaching so that's a good reason to get creative with hearts and keys don't you think?

Thanks so much for visiting me ... don't forget to take a look at the rest of the DT projects on the Blog

Have a beautiful day

CAS.ology

Hello ...

A really quick post 2nd post - with a last minute with entry for CAS.ology where the cue card is
DOT

I made the card quite quickly but forgot it's evening and it's pitch black so I'm disappointed in my photos

It's been a glorious day here and I picked up some Studio Calico papers in T K Maxx,  couldn't wait to use them and then of course forgot how dark it is after 4pm

Ah well ..... that's life

Enjoy your day / evening

Time Passing

Happy Sunday!
I hope you are enjoying your weekend

The prompt today at

Has been chosen for us by Bonita and it's

Time Passing

Nothing says it more to me than another Birthday recently celebrated...

The older you get the more you wonder just where did all those years go ... How fast they pass
Seems it was not that long ago I was a shy little girl at primary school

...But that was more than 50 years ago ... half a century!
And the sweet blonde girl on my left is still my friend today ...

The school was demolished and rebuilt about 10 years ago but not before ex pupils of all ages were invited back to take a last look

I'm on the right and my friend from the old photo is on the far left
Time Passing ...

As you know I am very close to my Aunt who is coming up for 87 this March ... But she can still remember her school days in the Actors orphanage before she was evacuated to New York

Here she is (highlighted) enthralled by a visit from Noel Coward

Time sure does go fast ... Can it be 14 years ago my DH and I were married?

And when did my son get so tall?

(Christmas 2013)

...And why is it I see my Mum each time I look in the mirror?

I guess that's Time Passing ...

Come and link up with us this week at

Till soon

Birthdays

Hello and good morning to you ...

January is such a busy month ... Another friend of mine celebrates both her anniversary and birthday this month ...
Tomorrow we are meeting for lunch to celebrate both our birthdays

This is the card I made for her

The little cat is from a die set I received from my friend Rebecca ... I just love it!

The paper beneath the flowers is a pale mint colour but it is so hard to photograph

I've recently backed up all my files from the computer ... I was having nightmares about losing everything ... my whole world is in this computer ... virtually
So along with paying a fee to Google for my photo capacity ... I now pay Drop box for my peace of mind ...
It meant for a few days that my computer was a little slower whilst files were being done and then blogger started playing up ... hopefully now all is well

Once again I would like to thank everyone for their lovely gifts and words following my birthday ...
Here are a few things I received from sweet blog friends

From the lovely Ira with this beautiful card

From my sweet friend Stella

Every single item was so beautifully wrapped

...  from Wendy ... also the Netherlands!

...And from my dear friend Rebecca ...

Thank you all so much!
I am overwhelmed and very grateful for your kindness

Ok, I have a class tonight for my group of physical and mentally disabled and it's going to take me the rest of the day to prepare all the projects for them ... We are doing clipboard calendars and so far I've made, printed and cut 60 sheets of calendar months ... now onto the clip boards and embellishments ... It's really hard work but so rewarding ... It's always good to put something back into society don't you think?

Have a beautiful day and keep safe

Till soon
