Faux metal and Celestial Elements

Good afternoon...

Our neighbour sadly just lost his Dad so I wanted to make him a card to let him know that we are thinking of him.
It's a card that fits 2 challenges as it happens

My lovely talented blog friend Mac (The Sweetest Of Peas)  is hosting the October Challenge at

Has a Celestial Elements challenge

This is my card

I embossed layer upon layer using 3 colours of embossing powder to get this metal looking feather and the stars
Unfortunately it is quite hard to see in the photograph how thick they are

It's an unusual galaxy I know but it captured the look I was going for... Like a mini explosion
I once accidentally spilt water on my ink blending and got a crazy effect... This time it was deliberate... A little water and then I blew it in all directions and dabbed off the excess

I hope to be back with you later in the week

Till soon

This feather is so richly embossed Ros and it looks fabulous against the cleverly made background. It does look a bit like an explosion and I can see some little gold splatters too and love the extra stars to embellish. x

I can see a lot of thickness in that embossed leaf, but I imagine it's even more so when you see it in real life. That's a pretty mix of embossing powders to get such an effect. Love the splattered and blown background -- another thing I need to remember to try. There are so many occasions to send cards, and all too often it's for sympathy. Your neighbor will appreciate your thoughtfulness.

Don't you love happy accidents??!! What an amazing background with your explosion of water using a straw. Beautiful! And I love your layered feather and stars Ros. So thick and beautiful ... they look like pieces of jewelry. Great work! A very special card for your neighbour. Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Mix Up! xx

So sorry for the occasion, but such a gorgeous card, Ros. I love the effect you achieved from blowing the water on your background - I will have to try that. The metallic spatter, stars, and your feather are all wonderfully arranged!
