Christening Card

Good morning!

I'm so glad that you enjoyed me sharing my little album yesterday ... Thank you so much for your comments

Today I have a christening card to share with you... My hubby's granddaughter (his eldest son's baby) is being christened on Sunday and yes, I am invited to this one ...You may remember that last year his daughter had her son christened and I was not invited, so to save any problems we are just going to the church service on Sunday and then coming home. It's a shame but I'm afraid his daughter has made it awkward for everyone...

Anyway here's the card I made for Felicity's special day

I confess I'm not in my comfort zone making special occasion cards... I'm happier with birthday and everyday cards... For this I started by blending (and water splattering)
inks onto a piece of CS and cut out some balloons and then some glitter hearts and stars

I was just going to attach them behind the heart but it seemed to me that it needed just a little something else and that when I decided to add some netting and popped it all up with foam tape

I computer generated that sentiment on the heart and then stamped and embossed the 'Hugs & kisses" in silver...

I'm linking this up to SSS Work it Wednesday Challenge

Have a beautiful day ...  I'm afraid it's wet and cold here

Something Special...

Hello there...

I'm not sharing a card today but I hope you don't mind me sharing something very special that I received on Monday

To give you a little background - Many years ago I was interested in my family tree...By chance I came across a book written about Wilkie Collins (Playwright author and best friend of Charles Dickens) and discovered my Great Great Grandmother Caroline was his partner...
I contacted the author of the book and cutting a very long story short I finally made contact with my Aunt's 2nd cousin Tim in Australia and his wife Jeanette who was a keen geneologist and had done tons of research. We corresponded for some time and then Tim sadly died and we lost touch...

Out of the blue, a month or so ago, Jeanette contacted me... Sadly she has some health issues and she asked me if I would like the heirlooms she held, belonging to my Grandmother and Great Aunts.
Of course I said yes and despite the cost I had them sent over...

What a treasure trove of things, including amazing jewellery and trinkets.... But by far, my favourite thing is this little album...

This is over 100 years old and is filled with memoirs, drawings and watercoloured paintings as well as photographs.

My Grandmother and her sisters were all Gaiety Girls and toured the UK starring in various shows... In the album are entries from many of the well known actors and actresses of the early 1900's...

Here's a peek at some of the pages

An entry by Gertie Miller

Entries from the cast of one of the shows together with a photo of the whole cast

The person referred to as Da is my G.Aunt Doris Beresford

The Iris referred to next to that beautiful painting is  my G. Aunt Iris

This pencil drawing is just stunning ... See the date? 1907

And one last painting and verse ....

I am just over the moon with this and there is so much more to go through...

I hope you enjoyed seeing these as much as I did

Till soon

CCCB Winner

Good morning lovely people ...

I'm back from a short break in Lincoln with my adorable Aunt... Oh my... I don't think I stopped laughing and talking... It's always so hard to leave.

Well, as you know I offered a prize to someone who both entered the challenge to CASE my card at City Crafter and also left a comment ... I got my Aunt to pull out a winner and the winner is
Well done to you Maria ... I loved your card  - Please email me with your address at
roscrawforduk@gmail.com
to receive your prize.

I have a few photos to share before I go... I noticed a blackbird yesterday with a beak full of worms

Obviously there are babies to feed, but then the bird noticed some cat biscuits on a saucer and decided to have one... The funny thing was the bird kept hopping back to the plate and ate a fair share of the biscuits whilst still keeping those wriggling worms in it's beak!

Oh and there's a new kitty on the block ...

How gorgeous is she! Of course my son makes a big fuss of her and she calls everyday to see him. I just hope that she doesn't decide to leave her home for ours.

Have yourselves a wonderful weekend

Double D Challenge

Hello again...

I'm back to share a project I made for the new challenge at
Where Darlene's team are hosting a challenge to use a Silhouette(s)

I've wanted to re-create a project that I made ages ago and framed. Over the years it has faded - it had  a sentimental meaning to me - You can see the original post and picture here
Here's my remake

I've yet to frame it and maybe I will add some shells and things to the frame

I used the new Distress Oxides to sponge this and I'm not sure if I agree that they blend more easily but they certainly react with water in a different way... you can create splashes in the sea water and dab off for clouds.

The images are stamped and the trees were cut on the Cameo... For the computer generated sentiment I used a piece of printable acetate...

Head on over to the Double D Blog to see what both Darlene and Diane's team have created and once again there is a lovely prize on offer

Have a lovely day

City Crafter 358

Hello and good morning!

I'm in Lincoln for a few days, spending time with my Aunt so this is pre-scheduled please note that I will announce the winner of my prize for last week's City Crafter Challenge at the end of the week...

Still in the midst of our 7th year celebrations at City Crafter with
CASE Me If You Can
The lovely Stella has given us this card to CASE

Here's my take ...

I made this as a get well card for one of my hubby's friends and my elements are on the bottom right rather than the top as on Stella's card

I've also taken the cloud element from Stella's card but added raindrops instead of polka dots
Of course you can use any of the elements or the design to make it your own version...

Head on over to the blog to see what the team have created and for details of how to win this prize from Stella too!

Have fun!

City Crafter 357

Hello lovely people...

We're still celebrating City Crafter's 7 year anniversary with
CASE me if you Can

This week it's my turn to offer you a card to CASE and here it is

You can use the design, or any of the elements to make it your own - The team have all CASEd this - go visit the blog to take a peek...

I also CASEd it myself and here's my second card

It's totally different but it still has the design, some ink blending, a gate instead of the music note and a dog in place of the cat

You probably can tell from the photo but the wellingtons are really glossy and there are puddles of rain around them and the pup ... It reminds me of when I went walking with my dogs.

I am also offering this prize for one lucky person check out the details on the City Crafter Blog

I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with

I'm going to enter both my cards at Happy Little Stampers

Thanks so much for your visit and enjoy your day!

CAS Watercolour Challenge

Hello there...

Since I did club night last Thursday and prepared all those projects, I haven't had much inclination to create at all... Sometimes I think I just get burnt out
This afternoon I forced myself to create something... I wanted to make a card for the current challenge at CAS Watercolour

I love green and use it a lot, but pink? Mmm... I'm more blues and greens and being creatively challenged this week hasn't helped. But finally I have something to share

I think that paint pattern shows where my creative head is ... all over the place ha!
As always I used ordinary card stock and Gansai Tambi paints. You could be forgiven for thinking that the white dots are splattered white paint but actually I spattered some Goosebumps before painting...

...I was curious to see what would happen as I've only ever used it when ink blending and then I stamped with it. It's just been sitting in my cupboard and the spray was blocked so I spattered instead.

Well it's a start and thank goodness I work ahead with DT stuff or I would really be panicking!

I hope you're having a good start to the week...

Till soon

Double D Challenge

Well hello again...

I'm back today with my DT project for the new Double D Challenge hosted by team Diane
This fortnight's challenge is

Neon Brights

Hop on over to the blog to see what the teams have to inspire you and the lovely prize on offer...

Neons are not really colours I reach for but I found this surprisingly easy

I cut a stencil with my balloon dies and pulled out all my bright distress inks to create a quick and simple card

I used a black sharpie pen to add strings to the balloons and a white gel pen for a little dimension.
The sentiment was die cut in black card and covered in glossy accents...

I'm also entering this at Happy Little Stampers April Challenge

Have a beautiful day

City Crafter Celebrations!!

Hello and good morning!

It's April and this month City Crafter Challenge is celebrating 7 years of success!

Happy Birthday City Crafter

I started blogging 7 years ago (yesterday) and 6 months later Kirsty invited me to join the City Crafter Team and what a pleasure it has been, not only to be on the team but to have made so many dear friends...

For the next 4 weeks we will be celebrating at City Crafter with prizes donated by the whole team.
Each week one of the team will have a card for you to CASE... Kirsty is kicking off the celebrations and here is her card

CASE this card

Here's what I came up with

Totally different but still the same design - I stencilled my BG and used silver thread to emulate Kirsty's scribble die cut

I used just dots of Glossy Accents to represent Kirsty's enamel dots - I have to say my sentiment was hard to capture in the photo but it is there, in silver embossing

The team have also CASEd this card ... Head on over to the blog to take a look

This is the amazing prize being offered by Kirsty to the winner of this challenge

To be in with a chance to win there are a few rules we'd like you to take note of

1. You need to enter the challenge
2. Leave a comment on the City Crafter Blog
3. Leave a comment on Kirsty's blog

We're looking forward to having you come to our party!

Have fun!
