Card cakes and frog

Hello and happy Monday!

What a busy time we've had...Hubby's daughter got married on Saturday and at least the rain held off even though it was very cold. I don't know about global warming, but here in Liverpool it seems to have had the opposite effect! Still we survived what was a very stressful day for both of us...

Thank you to the team at CAS Watercolour Challenge for my Outstanding Design award... That was lovely to wake up to and today I just have a few odds and ends to share.

Firstly a quick card for I made for my Friend Sue Lelli who recently celebrated her 60th Birthday

Same BG as I did in a previous card but this time I overlaid it with acetate on which I had stamped and embossed

And hubby wanted me to share the apple pastries I made for him

And just in case you're wondering, The half eaten one next to them is a cherry bakewell I made

I just love almond anything!

Finally, this is the prototype of the frogs my special needs group will be assembling

He's made with flower pots and a few other bits and pieces. They will also be making a frog slider card to go with this and right now I'm on to making 25 bees using plant pots. I managed to get some striped fabric to cut out and sew 25 dresses for them so I'd better get on with it.

Here's hoping that May will be a good month and bring us some warmer weather

Enjoy your week

Starry Card

Hi there...

This is such a busy week... We have appointments everyday, sometimes more than one!

In between I'm getting ahead on my club projects and there are frogs everywhere... Not real ones I have to say... I've prepared frog slider cards and a happy little frog made from a plant pot too. Anyway, I thought I'd take a little break from those guys and post a card I made last week which I'm saving for my brother's birthday next month...

This is the first time I've used this stamp set from Hunkydory and it was just a matter of ink blending with stamping and embossing

I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of printed wood effect CS and embossed it in my gold and silver mix, however it really didn't show up very well so I placed it back into my Misti and stamped again with black Versafine and I loved the result. It created a shadow effect that looks like the words are burnt into the wood...

Since I last posted we have had rain, rain rain... The cats are miserable and I can't say I blame them but on the upside, my back is so much better and I feel great!

Have yourselves a lovely day

Blooming Flowers

Hello!

Oh my goodness, we've had some beautiful summer weather these past few days andwhat a difference it makes...
Everything seems to be awakening and my lilac tree this year is showing signs of being full of blooms. Last year I only got one... One!

So whilst my kitties are enjoying the sunshine and my hubby is painting his shed, I can share another card with you

I'm trying to get ahead with birthday cards and I picked up this stamp in a sale recently, well, it's a set by Woodware,  the main stamp being the flowers

To add a little interest I did cut a triangle shape through it and popped it up

I'm also trying to get ahead with projects for the Thursday group - It was so busy last week and they are getting real quick at putting things together now. I have at least an hour to fill for 30 people which is no easy feat especially when I have to cut out all the bits for them so any suggestions would be welcome Lol!

I hope you enjoy your weekend and that the sun pays you a visit too

Take care

Oh Rain Rain Go Away

Hello there...

Are you all fed up with the rain? It's warmer here today but rain clouds are gathering again...

I have a card to share - A kind of ode to my recent short break

Even the seaguls were taking shelter, though perhaps not with umbrellas Lol!
I used another piece of the alcohol BG for my umbrella...

Stamped the raindrops and then went over them with Glossy Accents

I think that Gull set from MFT was one of my favourite buys and one of my most used ... They always make me smile, well, especially this particular gull.

I hope your week is going well?

Wishing you a lovely day

Happy Monday

Hello friends...
I'm back from our break in a wet and very windy Majorca...In all the years I have been visiting there, I have never seen waves so high on the beautiful turquoise sea. Being used to rain it didn't stop us getting out and about and we did a lot of walking. We went to the lovely Andraxt market which is usually bustling, but as expected, a lot of the stall holders had given up. From there we took a bus to Palma and walked around the city sheltering every now and then from the hailstones and rain, the normal street cafes abandoned as thunder boomed above. Then it was on to Santa Ponsa and back to the hotel.
Each day was much the same and once or twice the sun peeked out, lovely warm rays, but the wind was prevalent. I never got to feel the sand between my toes or the sea wash over me but I did enjoy the lovely meals served in the hotel and snuggling down with a good book. I did have a fall one evening but I was more shaken than injured - As my consultant said, I have very tough bones Lol!

Some weeks ago I bought a few alcohol inks and couldn't wait to give them a go but I just left the pieces I did till I had some inspiration as to what to do with them. Today I pulled out some dies and used one of my pieces for this card

 It's for my friend's birthday

Over the weeks I've also added a few new dies to my stash, the corner die and the flower/fronds die being 2 of them

I like that the flower die can be used upside down as I have done here so it looks like it's trailing over a trellis

Well, the cupboards are bare so I have to go grocery shopping ... I'll wish you all a lovely day and catch up with you soon

Another Sympathy Card

Good Morning...

I had a card from a friend of my Aunt's last week... She is another animal lover and lost 2 of her cats within 2 weeks. I could tell how distraught she is... Her cats and dogs are her babies and she works tirelessly with animal charities.
So I wrote a letter and made this card for her

I swiped Faded Jeans distress oxide ink ove the BG stamp and applied the card over the stamp... I just love that colour blue... In fact I have wallpaper very similar looking to that BG in the bedroom.

I reversed the grass stamp and embossed it in silver... I like how it looked upside down.

I know it will cheer her up, not everyone is sympathetic when a pet dies but if you don't have children they do become a substitute and even when you do, they are still part of the family.

I hope you enjoy your day... I'm still in Majorca for some R & R and I'll catch up with you all soon

City Crafter Birthday

Good morning!

I'm delighted to say that City Crafter Challenge Blog are celebrating their 8th birthday this month
I've been invited, along with other past team members, to celebrate with them!

There is a month long challenge of CASE Me If You Can and this week it's my card that you are being asked to CASE

I did some ink blending and water splattering then stamped and embossed the image and sentiment...
I prefer to stamp after I've blended but it works just as well to stamp before blending

I used the inlaid die technique for my fancy frame too. Of course you don't need to do all of these, they are just a few techniques that you can consider to make the card your own

The team at City Crafter have also CASEd my card to inspire you further - Hop on over and
take a look ...

I'm flying off to sun sea and sand for a few days so I'll catch up with you when I get back

Enjoy your week and thanks for popping in

Poppy Sympathy Card

Good morning friends...

I've had to make a few sympathy cards this month and here's another one that is going to the wife of my husband's friend who sadly lost her sister last week

I hadn't got a clue where I was going with this... The poppies had been coloured in a long time ago but remained unused till now

Having recently bought the die for them in the SSS sale was a bonus so I let them take centre stage

The little cat just finished it off... Actually I had a few cat die cuts on my desk as I had to make another sympathy card for a lady who recently lost her cat... I'll share that with you later in the week

We're off to Majorca in a couple of days so I guess I should start to pack... A job I hate. I've been looking at the forecast for the 4 days that we will be there and it doesn't look good...sigh
Still it's a welcome break and a kind of celebration... My scan results were all clear! Yay! The pain I have been dealing with is all residual pain from the surgery and my body adapting to it's new position. The other piece of good news is that in time, the consultant thinks I can reverse the scoliosis that was caused by the damaged discs.

Thanks so much for your kind wishes and keeping me in your prayers...

Enjoy your day

April CAS Watercolour Card Challenge

Hello...

I have a card to share for this month's challenge at CAS Watercolour Cards

It had me stumped at first, then I remembered all those digitals I have and printed this one onto ordinary CS and loosley painted it with distress inks

My blog friend Leslie (Running With Scissors) can paint tiny details with such precision that leaves me in awe... Not me, that's why I say loosley Lol! But I enjoy the challenge

And I think this little guy is a cutie anyway

 Wishing you a beautful day

Happy April

Hello and welcome to April

Can't say that it's started very well here... Cold and wet is the order of the day with snow forecast, but at least the blossom is appearing and buds are everywhere...

Did you have a good Easter? I have just a couple more Easter cards to share using up some bits and pieces

I used one of those 'tear open' dies to reveal my sentiment on this one

 And the second one

Pat is finally home after a month in London and she will be popping around today so maybe we will get some crafting done - I suspect we will be too busy catching up Lol!

Enjoy your day
