'Tis The Season

Oops! Almost a week since my last posting, I'm getting remiss.
Maybe it's the change in weather... It's cold! Cold sitting at the computer
And then there's the crochet gifts I'm making...
Slippers

Cowl neck warmers and fingerless gloves to match

Lots of them

...and I tried some cotton face scrubbies which actually work great, though they don't remove wrinkles

I've even done some "Tis the Season" Christmas cards

Some using up scraps

And last year's DP

Though you can't really see it here, this one was done with ink blending, embossed stamping then smothered in clear embossing powder to give it an enamel effect

So no, my hands have not been idle...And tonight is Halloween - I've put a hand made banner up and the treats are all ready for callers
So all I have to do right now is visit your lovely blogs and wish you a wonderful evening... Stay safe

Silver Bells... Well no actually, it's a Christmas Tree

Hello...
I hope your week is going well...

I have a Christmas card to share today made of scraps from last years leftovers

The tree is cut from a piece I did using the tissue paper technique and embossed with silver E/B whilst the BG is splattered in silver paint.

Then there is the silver mirri card wreath and finished with a silver bow

City Crafter has a Silver Bells challenge going on this week... Bells are not required, just a lot of silver, so I'm entering my card there.

I can't believe it's almost November and Christmas will be just around the corner... I have to get going and make more cards!
Thanks for stopping by - Have a lovely day

Oh Deer

Hello and good morning

Autumn has finally arrived with frosty mornings and  leaves strewn everywhere... My Ginger boy was taken ill again with those darn struvite crystals. This time I took him to a different vet... No way I was going to go back to the last place after the way he was treated. He was so scared going to the vet that they rushed him through when they saw he could hardly breathe...
Thankfully he's doing okay... Had a few injections and came home with me. You all know that my cat is a sun - worshipper and the vet said that the change in weather will have stressed him and caused him the discomfort. Who knew?

Anyway, I have 3 more Christmas deer cards to share with you today...

I've had the pine cone and fir stamps forever and I don't think I used them before so I did 2 cards using those stamps, overlapping the firs a few times

And the 3rd card has a holly branch stamp that I coloured and fussy cut....

...Added some very old DP and some leftover die cut sprigs

All being well I hope to share some more Christmas cards in the coming week
Thanks ever so much for your lovely comments

Have a great weekend

Faux metal and Celestial Elements

Good afternoon...

Our neighbour sadly just lost his Dad so I wanted to make him a card to let him know that we are thinking of him.
It's a card that fits 2 challenges as it happens

My lovely talented blog friend Mac (The Sweetest Of Peas)  is hosting the October Challenge at

Has a Celestial Elements challenge

This is my card

I embossed layer upon layer using 3 colours of embossing powder to get this metal looking feather and the stars
Unfortunately it is quite hard to see in the photograph how thick they are

It's an unusual galaxy I know but it captured the look I was going for... Like a mini explosion
I once accidentally spilt water on my ink blending and got a crazy effect... This time it was deliberate... A little water and then I blew it in all directions and dabbed off the excess

I hope to be back with you later in the week

Till soon

Birthday Cards

Well hello...

It's almost a week since I last posted anything... The time just seems to whizz by!
I've been doing a lot of crocheting lately... Little gifts for Christmas - Slippers, cowl scarves and wrist warmers so not a lot of card making but I do have a couple of birthday cards to share that I never got around to posting

The chick with a whole lot of ink blended balloons

And a card with ink blended candles

They aren't actual candle dies ... I used a small rectangle die for the candles and I have number (candle) dies so I used the flames from them

The birthday printed BG is a very old digital from Hero Arts

I still have some Christmas cards that need photographing before I can share... I hope to get around to that soon...
We're still having pretty weird weather... We've had a lot of rain and high winds from storm Callum, but it's still very warm for this time of year.

Wishing you a good week and thanks for looking in on me

Till soon

CAS Watercolour October

Hello...

I hope your week is going well... We've got unusually warm and sunny weather today and it's very welcome...

My favourite challenge blog is celebrating their 2nd Birthday today
May they continue to challenge us for a long time to come

This month's challenge is a colour challenge

The glorious colours of Autumn... Here's what I came up with

I started by stamping the image on white cardstock with black Versafine and then clear embossed it. Then I loosely painted the 3 colours over and around the image using Gansai Tambi watercolour paint

Once dry, I die cut the leaf sprig both from the painted piece and a few times from scrap CS and glued them together before smooshing over with Versamark and clear embossing powder. It's quite hard to see the contrast of the glossy leaf against the BG.

I popped the leaf stem back into the negative space using foam dots after stamping and embossing the
sentiment (from a Uniko set) and that's it.

I hope you enjoy your day, thanks so much for your visit

Till soon

A Card for Felicity

Good morning

The Giants have taken over my city again

Thousands of people have lined the streets for this spectacular which alas will be the last time they visit us

I think the star attraction, for the children especially, is the very lifelike Xolo the dog

And talking of children, my husband's Granddaughter Felicity will be 2  this month...
I saw a super interactive flip card made by Laura Bassen ... Here
and thought I could make a similar one for Felicity
I don't have the die (by Mama Elephant) but it reminded me of one of the waterfall cards we all used to make so it was easy enough to I make my own

There are 4 animals... 2 chicks, a cat and a monkey

Kind of difficult to photograph but you get the idea - As you pull the tag each card flips over to reveal the next... It's like a horizontal version of the waterfall card

I do enjoy interactive cards and I had fun making this

I hope you have a lovely weekend

Thanks for stopping by

A Blingy Card and a Tale of Woe

Hello there

It's almost a week since I posted... where does the time go?
Actually I haven't done much in the way of card making lately... Just life getting in the way- Like visiting the dentist...
If you've come to see my card... Just skip down as this could be a little long.

Okay, I'm not the only one who doesn't like dentists... Even my lovely lady dentist said she didn't like going to the dentist (figure that one). But one tooth top left was giving me trouble so after my check up last week I was booked in for Tuesday to have a filling and at the same time she was replacing an old filling. Simple huh? Yeah right! I got two injections, they hurt, and then was tilted so far back I was virtually upside down when the equipment stopped working. 10 minutes and 4 assistants later problem solved. Now by this time my tongue had gone completely numb... I mean really! But according to the dentist it was having a party in my mouth and would not stay still... Soooo embarrassing! Maybe it was the blood rushing to my head... I was still upside down after all. And I'm sure the human mouth is not designed to take 3 fists either... Why oh why does the assistant stick that water sucker-upper thingy so far back that you are choking?? And whatever happened to the little breaks when they brought the chair back up and the blood stopped rushing to your head and you got to gargle with the pink stuff over a tiny sink?

Finally.. An hour later I was good to go and the lovely lady gave me a mirror to check out my tooth.. Wait I have to put my glasses on... Okay so how do I see my tooth? Well it's right there on the bottom left... What??? Well, explained the lovely lady... That one looked a bit jagged so I fixed it. Oh... well that was nice... I also replaced the old filling top right... Great! Not that either gave me the slightest problem...And the top left, the reason I came here... faced my worst fears said me slurring with my now lopsided mouth... Oh no said the lovely lady... I didn't do that... Couldn't find a thing wrong with it... ARGH!!!!
Now you see why I don't like going to a dentist... Give me spine surgery any day!

Onto today's card which is for my friend Pat who celebrates her birthday this weekend

I pulled out a little bling for this one along with the Cameo to cut the flower shape both from white card for the negative space and then again from silver grey card for the inlay

I used distress inks to blend on the card base with some water splatters and though it's hard to see here... I also splattered with pewter distress stain
I hope she likes it...

Well that's it for today... I hope your week is going well

Till soon
