Sewing box ...

Hi there ... are you having a good day?
We have had glorious sunshine today ... really hot and I spent the afternoon in my craft room ... much cooler ...
I saw a beautiful sewing box Here and was so taken with it that I thought I'd make one too ... but I confess that I really do prefer the one made by the talented Kerryanne ...

My box is a hexagonal shape and I covered it with paper rather than paint ...

Using some MME paper

The labels are from the Graphic Fairy

Lace and ribbon from my stash ...
Simple .. but lots of fun to do ..

I hope you have a lovely evening ... I'll be back tomorrow

WaltzingMouse and bye bye Cat ....

Hi there ...
finally the mystery of the cat is solved ... seems she ... "Minnie" ( the minx!) belongs to the Policeman a few houses away ... well actually his teenage daughter ... and they also have another female cat ... who does not appreciate Minnie being part of the household ... fights ensue and Minnie decides to leave home and search for a new family to adopt ...
Well she was collected yesterday evening and 2 hours later they were searching for her again ... they knocked at my door and as soon as Minnie heard my voice ... she came from her hiding place in the garden ran in my house and up my stairs! But I desperately needed a nights sleep so sorry to say I handed her back. No doubt it not the last I will see of her ...

I have a card that I made for a sweet blog friend Becks ... and I used the sketch over at WaltzingMouse ... such a lovely sketch ...

I decided to flip this and here is my card ...

This Thank you card is way overdue because I know Becks love MF papers and I just couldn't get these so my lovely friend Stella got them for me
 (Thank you Stella) ...
I used the "Text It" stamps from WM on the paper ...

I'm hoping you can see that ... and I also used the lovely "Victorian Frippery" set again too ... this is probably my most used set of stamps ... love them!

I used distress ink to stamp with and then added some twine to my card ... flowers and some delicate tulle with a bow ...
Becks this will be on it's way to you soon ... sorry it's late

And finally ... I have this souvenir magazine from the Royal Wedding ...

... If anyone would like it ... just let me know ...

Have a lovely day

Anniversary Wishes ... and cat!

I am worn out this morning ... this cat is taking over my life and keeping me from my sleep ...
I thought it had found it's way back home on Monday evening ... but we had a big thunderstorm ... and it seems the cat was out in the rain crying ... my son came down at 2am to let her in and stayed with her till I appeared at 8am ... Now she won't go anywhere without us ... and can she cry ...
I have had countless cats and kittens ... ask any stray and it knows my address ... but this one cries so loud and constantly if she isn't being amused ... I think she is only young ...  I need to check out the neighbours ... she must belong to someone ... but I suspect they have probably gone away being it is the school half term here ... and left 'kitty' for someone else to see too ... it wouldn't be the first time this has happened and I think this time I shall have words ... it is cruel (to me and the cat) and irresponsible ... and I'm getting too old to be up at 4am to soothe a crying 'baby' who just wants to play ...

I do however have a card to share ... made for one of my friends who is celebrating her wedding anniversary

This is for Karen ... we met on our first day at high school and have remained friends ever since ...  A long time!  Made with papers from Prima's Botanical collection and a little scrap of Parisian Anthology from Pink Paislee (one of my most favourites) ...

Happy Anniversary Karen and Roy ...

And would you LOOK .......

It's 11:53 am and the cat has FINALLY gone to sleep!!

(Note to self ... do not talk to any passing cats ... EVER again!!)

Till soon

Back to Basics

Good morning to you all ...
We seemed to have adopted a new member to the household here ...

Seems my side bar cat came alive ... and it's making itself quite comfortable .. thank you ...
I have no idea who it belongs to but I suspect someone has gone on holiday and left it here ... happens to me every year ... they know a soft touch and whilst I have tried to not encourage it too much ... my son just lets it in .. but the cat is hyper active ... quite mad actually ... what am I to do?

Anyway onto the new challenge over at City Crafter Challenge Blog  where I am hosting this week ... and I am taking you 'Back to Basics' and asking you to get out your paints and cardboard  ... you can make a card or project of your choice as long as you use these two items ...  Recycling cardboard is very popular at the moment so I am really looking forward to seeing your creations ...

Me ... well I'm still hooked on frames ... as you can see ... and this is made from two different types of cardboard ... both of which were originally packaging ... The larger rectangle is just covered in some pretty paper from my box of scrapbook papers ... sorry I can't remember the make ...
I then cut a rectangle out of a piece of corrugated cardboard ... big enough to fit my photo of Sophia ... and used two different paints on it ... I gave it a 'wash' first with an olive coloured acrylic paint and then dry brushed over it with white acrylic ... I also edged it with some TH tape ...

... I think the dry brushing gives a great effect ...

... you can see I added 4 pearl brads to secure it and just a simple rose completes the project ...
I like the earthy tones to this as it fits in with the photo which was taken in the park ... Sophia is wearing a little green backpack too ...
So are you up for the challenge? ... Why not pop over to CCCB and take a look at the rest of the DT work ...

Thanks for visiting me ... have yourselves a lovely day

Jingle Belles and CR84FN ...

Hi!
Have you had a good weekend? It's bank holiday here and once again we have rain .. it's not warm either
But we Brits are used to that ... it gives us something to complain about Lol!
It was my brothers' birthday yesterday and we spent the day together ... with my hubby my SIL and my great niece Sophia ... who is living with her grandparents at the moment ...
She is such a joy ... and nothing is nicer than to hear her chuckles ... she had me playing peek a boo and chuckled so much I though she would choke ... I don't mind telling you that I needed a lie down afterwards  (not that I had one) ... but I am just not used to entertaining 2year olds anymore and keeping up with them!

So once I had recovered ... I got the chance to make card number 22 for the Jingle Belles Rock challenge ... I really look forward to this challenge every week ... and this week the theme is "We Three Kings" ... to use three different papers on your card ...
I somehow managed to combine this challenge with the one over at CR84FN ... I missed last weeks' ... and this week we have another beautiful colour palette courtesy of Martha Stewart

I know these colours would not normally speak "Christmas" to me ... but it all started with a scrap I had of 3 negative snowflakes ... and I placed a piece of pale yellow paper (Websters Pages) behind and added blue rhinestones to the centres ...

I made some scalloped edging with my SB dies ... using snowflake paper from Papermania and added some matching trim which has sparkles in it ...

... and used some MME glitter paper for the base ... this has kraft, blue and yellow in it ... so I think I covered all bases ...

... and added a little Jingle bell for good measure ...
So there we are ... what do you think?

Have a great day whatever you have planned ... and keep safe

Till soon
