Pride & Prejudice

Dare I say it but I read this novel way back in high school more than 4 decades ago ...
And I know my fellow team mate Wendy at City Crafter is a huge fan of Jane Austen

The lovely Wendy is hosting for us this week and the challenge she originally set us was to create a project based on the novel Pride and Prejudice ... But the challenge has been extended to
Create a project based any Jane Austen novel

I have to confess that at first my mind went blank! But of course you only have to think about some of the costumes and the array of vintage photos and silhouette images available to be inspired ... Naturally I didn't think to go down that route

What inspired me was the lovely chain in the photo and a wonderful and meaningful quote from the book
 Here's my project

A simple necklace

... dressed up with a few charms

Our Guest designer this week is Julie aka The Glitter Chick ... who I know will have no trouble with this challenge ...
I'm really looking forward to seeing her creation along with those of the other designers ... and we'd all love to see your take on the challenge ... are you an Austen fan?
The winner will be given a Guest Design spot here with us at City Crafter too ... so come and join us.

Till soon my friends

Have a beautiful day

Summer's Here!

Good morning!
How was your weekend?
We had a beautiful weekend ... full of warm sunshine ... dare I say it but it looks like summer is here ...
I know there are hurricanes and tornados hitting certain parts of the US ... I can't even begin to image what you are going through but my prayers and thoughts are with you ...

Last week we celebrated my brother Ron's birthday ... we got together for lunch and my adorable great nephew Ross came too ... It was so lovely to catch up with him
This is the card I made for my brother

I've had fun using these MME papers ... adding washi tape

... cutting stars in different sizes and layering them ...

I keep all the little packets of spare buttons and things that come attached to clothes and that brown metal circle and bead are from one of the packets ... they just looked perfect for that star

Before I go ... I'd like to say Thank You to Flourishes for this lovely stamp set I won

... and a Thank You to the ladies at Play Date Cafe for a 'Cream in our coffee' award for challenge #180

I hope you have a beautiful start to your week ... I'll be back tomorrow for the new challenge at City Crafter ... Hope to 'see' you then ...

CASology Challenge

Hi there!

I'm popping in to share a card I made for the CASology challenge ... I've not played here before but I hope to play again - I really love CAS cards, though sometimes I find them very challenging ... The temptation to add more is always there!
The DT have made some really cute cards ... why not hop over and take a look

So, the challenge is simply "Furry" and this is what I came up with

It's a long time since I used this little bear image - a digital from Meljen's designs and I just had to give him a furry blanket to hold

I love this little guy ... but of course I could have printed him onto pink paper and he'd be a she

I did use some foam dots to adhere him to the card but as you can see it's not too thick - Our postal charges here in the UK are making it harder and harder to send cards and there's nothing nicer than receiving something handmade is there?

Well it's a glorious day here - blue skies and sunshine ... we've had a fair bit of rain these past few days
and the garden and the trees are looking very lush
I hope you all have a wonderful day and a great weekend ...

Thanks so much for stopping by and for taking the time to leave such sweet comments - It's really appreciated

Till soon

Ruby Wedding

In a few days time my high school friend will be celebrating her Ruby Wedding anniversary ...
It's a date I never forget because I lost my Dad on the same day -
Forty years ... Where does the time go? I can still remember the night my friend met her husband ... She'd recently split from her high school sweetheart and was "down in the dumps" as we say in the UK ... Naturally her friends and family were worried about her so I took her into the city one evening ... to a nightclub.
Whilst she was in the ladies (the restroom) a sweet guy sat next to me and we started chatting ... when my friend came back I introduced them and they immediately hit it off!
The rest as they say is history! They were married within a year and now have a beautiful family including grandchildren. I couldn't be happier for them!

Here's the card I made for them

I used a stamp from Inkylicious and added some liquid pearls ... then made a rolled rose from some really luscious red card stock to use as my centrepiece

I added some punched leaves and couldn't resist using a pair of die cut clock hands again ...

Because the flower stands quite proud of the card and I needed to put this in the post ... I came up with the idea of using some packaging like this to place over the front of my card

... then wrapped tissue paper around the whole card and popped it into a bubble envelope... It worked a treat!

I'm entering this into the challenge at Shopping Our Stash ... where as it happens the challenge for this week is Graduation or Celebration .. Perfect!

Wishing you a beautiful day

Paper Flowers

Hi there!
It's a new challenge at  Papercraft Star today and over the past few weeks each one of the designers has been asked to set the challenge ... This week it's my turn and I'm asking that you create a card or project that features a Handmade Flower(s)

I just love to see the variety of handmade flowers out there and I've tried many of them yet funnily enough one of my all time favourites is the simplest of all ...
I call them punched and scrunched ... just punch a bunch of them and scrunch them up ...

The colour scheme for this card started with that little piece of ribbon would you believe! I'm just loving the peachy colours as you can tell

I used a Woodware 5 petal punch on scraps of digital papers to create my flowers and just some lightweight white card for one of them...
I love the definition these flowers give

If you've been following Anitra's tutorials on Papercraft Star you will see she showed us how to make some beautiful tattered flowers ... Here

We are really looking forward to seeing your creations this week do please come and join us..
Don't forget to stop by the Blog to check our the lovely projects from the team too!

have a beautiful day and keep safe

My iPod is my best friend ... It travels everywhere with me and for the longest time I have been promising myself I'd make a little cover for it ... this was the perfect opportunity

This started life as a pouch for my sunglasses

I just cut it to the size I needed and stitched it and then set about decorating it

Now I can slip it in my bag and it's safe and pretty too!

I will also be entering this in the challenge at Lessology ... For The Love Of Fabric
