Christmas Deer

Hi there... How are you?

I haven't made a single card in weeks now, even my last posting was scheduled.

It's rained non stop for days (and it's cold!) which should give me an excuse to stay in and create but DH and I have just been taking time out and watching the French series of Spiral. Funny thing is we don't normally watch TV during the day but sometimes you just have to step back.

I do however have a couple more Christmas cards to share that I made awhile ago - This one uses the last piece of the AI I did for the previous Christmas cards and I cut the deer out from the die I used Here

The sentiment stamp is an old one from Wplus9

The next card uses the same deer and a blended BG plus a frame die from Aliexpress that I also used in this post 

You can see I did some stamping and embossing on the BG as well as a little gold paint 

 

I've a few new stamps just waiting to be used... Hopefully I can get motivated soon.

CAS Mix Up Challenge

Hello there... Welcome to November!

It's the start of a new challenge at CAS Mix Up  and this month the challenge is hosted for us by Susan.

This is the last challenge of year so we are hoping that you will be inspired to join in.

To be honest when I first saw this, I watched the videos done with SU foil products which I don't have and wondered what else I could use to get that metallic look - I do have mirri card, silver card and silver paper and hoped that maybe I could get similar results using one of these... You know I love a challenge. 
Well I wasn't very successful at first.. The re-inker just ran off my card/paper before I could even add the clear embossing powder. Determined not to give up, I eventually got a result

 I added the re-inkers with water bit by bit, drying in between and a closer look will tell you that I still didn't get full coverage of the silver paper but enough to clear emboss and die cut the leaf stems. 

They looks so delicate and shiny that it was worth it in the end and all I added was 2 die cut triangles and a stamped sentiment.

Of course there are other ways to achieve the oxidized metal technique using cardstock ... Check out the videos on the blog and the lovely examples by the rest of the team.

I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Something Blue

Hello lovely friends...

Sorry I haven't been around much, and I want to say huge thank you for all your heartfelt messages following the loss of my friend...Your support and kindness gives me strength.

I still have the funeral to face this Friday and as I was her best friend, I've been asked to escort her casket into the chapel.

Anyway, I have some more Christmas cards to share, again using alcohol inks and the alcohol lift technique this time using shades of blue and snowflake stamps

Please excuse the photos, the weather has not been very conducive

At least you can make out the snowflake patterns

Maybe even a little of the gold/silver splattering. The sentiment die is another one from Aliexpress and these cards make up pretty quick.

I've been following the news about the floods in some parts of the world and forest fires in others... Particularly California's forest fires. It must be dreadful for those of you living out there and my thoughts are with you all...Be safe

Autumn's Smile

Hello...

Autumn is one of the loveliest  of seasons, but this year it has brought huge sadness for me. 

With little warning my dearest friend and soul sister Beryl, left this world. I held her hand but she couldn't stay...A week has passed by in a fog and this year will not be forgotten for it's losses.

Awhile ago I made this card

The leaves were stamped with alcohol lift ink ... It seems fitting in it's imperfect colourful way

Life isn't perfect and there are many shades of grey, but sometimes, someone special leaves behind the most beautiful colours stamped on your heart...

CAS Watercolour Challenge Reminder

Today I'm back as Guest Designer with a reminder for the 3rd Birthday

CAS Watercolour Challenge 

Here's my card...

Once again my maple leaves were painted with Gansai Tambi paint but this time I went for coppery colours..

I die cut a rectangle frame, adhered it off the the edge of the card cutting off the excess, then stamped and fussy cut a watering can which I painted together with a base using distress inks...

Then adhered the leaves around and finished my card off with an embossed sentiment.

I've really enjoyed being Guest designer and many thanks to the lovely team for inviting me.

CAS Mix up Challenge Reminder

Hello there, I hope you are all well?

We are halfway through this months challenge at CAS Mix Up

 So I am sharing my second card using Deco foil

Once again I used double sided adhesive tape to apply the foil. I folded a wide piece of the tape in half... Long enough to die cut the fern from and then carefully peeled away one side of the backing and laid it onto a watercoloured rectangle. Then I peeled away the top backing and this gave me the sticky base to rub the foil onto.

I decided to trim the top and bottom from the fern just for a little more interest. I also die cut the wavy lines from a PTI cover plate and adhered just part of it to my card base before adding the the watercolour and fern piece.

My card was finished with a stamped and clear embossed sentiment...
