Pinwheels and CR84FN challenge

I've been making pinwheels ... lots of them ... gathering buttons, ribbons, embellies and cutting out lots of gift bags too... Tonight is our last craft night at Thursday Club ... next week they have their party and then finish for the Summer break ...
So I decided this week we will make cards and gift bags with pinwheels on ... it is a great way to use up scraps ... as long as each piece is about 3" square ... They are easy peasy ... but my group have co-ordination problems so they will be ready made for them to assemble everything. I have a gift for each of them to put in their bags too ...
I used some left over SU paper to make a few more for the colour challenge at CR84FN
This is the colour palette

and here is my set

I made 4 pinwheels and just doubled them up for this project and used a plastic straw to stick them to

Picked up this new Papermania stamp the other day too

The kraft coloured card was originally white cardstock and I used Pink Petticoat's digital Organics to get that nice shade which I cut with a PTI scalloped die
Flowers and ribbons are from my stash and I used the Cameo to cut the bags ...

I love these colours ... so bright and cheerful and the talented ladies at CR84FN have made some wonderful samples for our inspiration ... hop over and take a look

Ok so I still have lots to do ... more birthdays and anniversaries are looming ...

Thanks so much for visiting ... have a beautiful day

Papercraft Star

Hello!
Well it's far from hot here in the UK but the challenge this week at Papercraft Star is
Hot Hot Hot
This week we want you to include a Sun on your project

I haven't seen the sun for a while now ... just lots of rain but I did manage to create a cheerful summer card all the same

my sun is just peeking through the clouds

I hand cut a kite from some self adhesive fabric from Hobbycraft... Stamped a few little beach huts and coloured them with distress stains ...
The border and the clouds are cut from PTI dies and the sun and sentiment are digital images

If you want to see what my lovely team mates have come up with ... hop over to the Papercraft Star blog ... We'd be delighted to have you join us this week ... Our winner and runner up as always will receive digital sheets from our sponsor THATB

Hope you are having a lovely day wherever you are

Stay safe

City Crafter Recipe Card Challenge

It's a brand new challenge at City Crafter today and Linda is hosting for us ...
She is asking for us to "Make a Recipe Card"...

Such a lovely inspiration photo

I had intended to go down the shabby / vintage route ... but something else developed and I made an apron card with my 'recipe' card in the apron pocket

Using a Hero Arts digital stamp ..  recipe for friendship

This week we have the amazing Lauren Bergold Guest Designing for us and once again we are offering a GD spot to our winner ...
I can't wait to see what you come up with for this challenge ... I'm heading off to the blog to check out the rest of the projects ... care to tag along?

Till soon my friends ... have a lovely day and thanks for stopping by

Jingle Belles Vintage Christmas

When you create does your mood dictate your choice of colours and textures ... or maybe even your style? What do you imagine when you think of vintage?

Today I got to catch up with the challenge at Jingle Belles ... which is to make a vintage Christmas card ... I never have a picture in my head ... I play about with things ... go with what I am feeling ...
I wanted some music paper in there ... that always says vintage to me ... turned out my music got kinda covered by the other paper choices I made ... I wanted lace, but ended up with pompom trim ... I was going to add holly and berries ... but I made a ribbon rosette and added a white flower ... But glitter ... well at least that got in there and was not covered over ...

Judging by my work table and the floor ... you'd think I'd made at least 10 cards ... not just one ...
But I'm content with it ... guess that's what matters

Have you started your holiday cards yet? It's kind of hard to get into Christmas mode for me ... but I'm trying ...

Have a lovely Sunday

Gibraltar

Hello from a very very wet UK!

I made a little mistake ... after Casablanca ... we set sail for the beautiful city of Cadiz ... but you wont mind if I skip the order and bring you Gibraltar today will you?
Now I warn you that there are a LOT of pictures ...
Unfortunately as we sailed into port we hit thick fog ... Gibraltar looked very spooky ... like it had been bombed ...

This was all that was visible in the haze
To be honest it was so warm and I was pretty glad that the day was overcast ... it gets so uncomfortable walking around in the heat ... you have to understand we Brits are not used to heat ... It's the 6th July and the temp is about 60℉
Though I have been to Gibraltar before ... I had never actually been up the "Rock" so we took a tour bus and first headed up the rock stopping at this lovely Lighthouse

You can still see the mist and even this little guy decided to stay on land

This lighthouse faces a beautiful Mosque which cost £8m

You may be able to see what look like caves in the rock ... there are lots of caves ... but during WW2 Guns were installed in the Rock for defence ... there are also lots of tunnels which housed hundreds of troops ... we took a trip to one of the caves ... St Michael's cave ... where the acoustics are amazing and concerts are held ...

Just look at the amazing stalagmites and stalactites ... there were 69 steps to get out of here .. it is quite dark so I apologise for the poor shots
One of the highest points on the Rock stands the ruins of a Moorish castle or fort ... built in 711 AD ... the Moors occupied Gibraltar for around 710 years

Terrific view!
But by far ... the highlight for me was meeting the famous monkeys that inhabit the Rock

It is said that if these guys ever leave the Rock ... Then Gibraltar must be handed back to Spain ... needless to say they are the best looked after monkeys in the world! With a vet visiting every day

... and the cheekiest ... we laughed at how they pinched tissues and things from the visitors and jumped on unsuspecting people ... this guy was so laid back about it all ... inviting photo opportunities

The females had recently given birth and for the first time ever there was a set of twins born ... Just look at this cutie

Of course there is the shopping

And I love to shop ... That little tote was so handy

Many British shops here ... Marks & Spencer, Next, Peacocks, Bon Marche ... and even  an Apple store
Electrical goods Like most things in Gibraltar are much cheaper than back home ... hence my hubby treated himself to an iPad ... saved around £100
For those who don't want to shop ... there are lots of pubs, bars and historical places to visit ... even a cable car ... and canon's for the boys!

All too soon we returned to the ship ... where the RAF gave us a brilliant air display ... made my husbands day!

Gibraltar is not everyone's cup of tea ... my brother was stationed there for a few years whilst serving in the Royal Navy so maybe I have an affinity to it ...
You can walk across right into Spain, the weather is lovely, there is no unemployment, no rape, pickpockets, muggings, murders, no illegal immigrants, goods are cheap ... what more could you want?

Have a lovely day ... I hope you enjoyed a little more of my trip

Till soon

Shabby/Vintage challenge

There are still a few days left to enter the fun challenges at Papercraft Star ...
The 4th challenge has been set by the lovely Anitra and she is asking that we
"get our party on ... shabby / vintage style"

My sweet blog friend is celebrating her wedding anniversary today ... and I found out too late to have a card done and sent ... so this was the opportunity to make a card and enter Anitra's challenge ...

two sparkly hearts cut from burlap

Die cut "notes" using images from THATB

The backing paper is also from THATB

Ok, so I know that the card will be late ... but better late than never right?

Got to dash ... Thursday club tonight and I have missed my group so much ...

Have a lovely day / evening

Hugs
