Red Poppies

Hello there...

It's my brother's 45th wedding anniversary today and I am sharing the card I made for them... My SIL loves poppies and red poppies are a symbol of remembrance.

Today I dedicate this to the people of Paris where so many lost their lives in a terrible assault last night... Both my Grandfathers were French and they fought for freedom and peace....

The stamp I used is by Technique Tuesday and I embossed it in gold before water colouring it

I need a lot of practice with colouring ....

over at Colour Me the palette is red and olive

...and the photo is of poppies so I'm entering this card there and at

Just Us Girls where the challenge calls for Watercolouring

And... I think this fits the Muse Card Club challenge

Wishing you a wonderful weekend ... may peace be with you

70's Shaker

Oh it's not what you think....
Though in the 70's I was definitely a little shaker, clubbing it most nights Lol!
No... I'm sharing a shaker card that I made for my friend's 70th Birthday

Green happens to be her favourite colour and though I've made plenty of cards this style ... I've never done one for this friend...

I was going to add one of the little pups as she's another dog lover, but somehow that sprig of leaves just seemed to fit better... It's actually the backing from some masking paper - I used the sticky part when I was doing some water colouring sometime ago... Shows you all the little bits I keep!

My sweet friend Pat is coming today, we'll do some creating, chat and drink a coffee or two... I wish you could join us
I hope you all have a lovely day

Till soon

Another Gift

Hello friends...

Thanks so much for your visit and your lovely comments ... I hope you don't mind me sharing another light up picture with you ... You can see the first two I did Here

I made this one for my friend's son ... A great guy who I've known since he was a little boy - life hasn't always been kind to him where relationships are concerned but now he is settled with a wonderful lady who also deserves a lot of happiness...

These are not easy to photograph - The glass front doesn't help - IRL they look much nicer

As with the previous ones, I used the Printshop programme to do the verse and printed it onto acetate, cut out the image on my Cameo and used paint mists for the BG - The lights I use are just little string lights that you can pick up for about £2.

I'm going to enter this at Try It On Tuesday and hope it fit the challenge "Create A Scene"

Have a lovely day!

City Crafter 287

Hello and good morning!

It's my turn to host the challenge this week at City Crafter
The theme is Dye It

This week I am challenging you to create a card or project with
NO stamping and NO DP
You may use paints, inks, stencils Die cuts etc.,

I took inspiration from that lovely photo and here's my card

I used my inks and paints to colour pieces of scrap CS and then just cut out a bunch of leaves and flowers... added sequins and beads and a die cut sentiment
I know it's kind of 'out there' for me but I'm happy with it

Hop on over to the Blog to see what the rest of the team have to share and don't forget we have the talented Marcia Hill Guesting with us too!
I hope you'll be inspired to join in the challenge!

Have a lovely day!

Handmade Kindness - Light Up Pictures

Hello there...
If you are looking for my post on Our Beautiful World please scroll down...

I don't usually post twice on the same day but the lovely Jennifer McGuire is running a challenge called Handmade kindness... click the link and you can read all about it, basically it's about creating a little handmade something to give to family or friends

Last night I went to a surprise party for a friend from my old neighbourhood... She celebrates her 70th Birthday this week and believe me that lady doesn't look a day over 50!
We haven't see each other in a while and all my old friends from the neighbourhood were there ... Their children all grown up with children of their own... I can't begin to tell you how much I enjoyed it. I didn't realise just how much I missed everyone and my old life till I was right back there...
I took a handmade gift for my friend who, I might add, was completely overwhelmed by the number of family and friends that came from near and far to show their love...

It's really hard to photograph but this is what I made

I created a scene with paints and added the cats... printed the verse onto acetate and then poked different size holes through my painted piece before placing it into the front of the frame

You need a shadow box frame to do this so you can add lights and they fit neatly into the back of the frame (held down by low tack tape) and then I used velcro to attach the switch on the outside like this...

I also made one for my sweet friend Pat who has been so wonderful, especially whilst I have been ill for some weeks...

These are my little acts of kindness for the friends I'm so blessed to have

Till soon
