White

Good morning...

It's my turn to pick a prompt for Our Beautiful World and this week the word is
White

This beautiful swan is no ordinary swan ... This is a Norwegian swan haha! I took this photo whilst visiting Stavanger some years ago with my dear Aunt

Here she is ... 88 years old standing by lots of the 'white' stuff!

.. They sure get plenty of it in Norway but this photo reminds me just how it used to be here when I was a child ... Before they had all the super duper waterproof, windproof and cosy clothes they have now. We didn't even have central heating yet we would play out in the cold snow all day... Somehow we all survived...And they were fun times

By contrast the hotel we stayed at last summer by the beach was a boutique hotel and nearly everything was white

I loved these outdoor light up pots

And in Lisbon I took this photo of white statues through the bus window

Finally in keeping with the season ... here are some white Christmas critters I saw at one of our Christmas markets

We're looking forward to seeing your photos of white this week
Hop on over to Our Beautiful World to see what my friends are sharing...

Thanks so much for your visit ... have a lovely day

Star Card

Hello!

With being so busy this past week I nearly forgot to make a birthday card for Pat's lovely husband...
I always have feminine cards to hand but not so with male cards and this had to be made quickly

I opted to do an inlaid die card - I love this technique and it means that the card is pretty flat too

It also gave me an opportunity to try out some new distress inks I got this week - I used them to sponge CS for cutting out the stars... there's some pinkish colour in there but I don't think he'll mind

On another note, it was so busy and noisy at Thursday club special needs - our last craft class until the new year...
Pat brought along supplies for the group to make cards and angels and I brought supplies for them each to make one of these

20+ little reindeer and they were so happy ... Makes all the hard work so worthwhile to see them smile

Have a beautiful day and be safe

A bit of everything

Hello there...
Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate it... May you have a wonderful day filled with love and laughter...

I'm really not sure where the last week has gone ... I don't seem to have stopped yet I've got nowhere... Do you know what I mean?

I don't have much to share this week... I've been doing some reorganisation in my craft room ... Bought new furniture and boosted the sales in Ikea Lol! I've been preparing for club night as well as fitting in doctors appointments, lunch with a dear friend and crafting with Pat ... I do have a card to share that I made sometime ago ... I made a similar one as a DT project here
This one is with a blue BG

Do you ever wish you were a little bird? Able to fly away above the hustle and bustle, visit the ocean and clear your head? That's what this card reminds me of

Thanks to everyone for your comments and emails following my little rant about our inefficient services here in the UK ... in particular the automated phone systems and lack of common sense that drives us all mad. Seems the problem is the same the world over and I was so sad to read just how badly this has affected some of you... My problems pale into insignificance..

I finally got the results of my blood tests and there was nothing there to worry about which is a good thing but I am non the wiser as to why I have been feeling so ill these past months... They simply don't know... Of course they suggested everything from a virus to it all being in my head... Well, that's how I interpreted it... Yes, I often long to be that little bird

Till soon

City Crafter 289

Hello everyone...
How are you all? Ready for a new challenge at City Crafter
This week we have Marina hosting for us with a theme on the Snow Queen Story

Create a project using either the story for inspiration or pick up any of the elements in the photo to use i.e. Trees, scarf...
I went with the trees... Well, as soon as I saw this paper from Pinkfresh Studios I just had to go with it

I know... it's those colours again ... just can't help myself...
I sponged CS with ink and cut some stars which I then covered in sparkly dimensional Mod Podge and attached them with thin acetate strips

I stamped the sentiment in the same ink and quickly added some clear gloss EP to get it shiny and finished with a few sequins

This is the last week  Marcia will be guesting with us - we've really enjoyed her being here and sharing her talent....Thanks so much Marcia!

Hop on over to CCCB and see what Marcia and the rest of the team have come up with this week ... I know it's a busy time of year but I do hope you can find time to play along this week...

Have a beautiful week and be safe

Vintage November

Hello there ...

This week at

Kirsty has chosen the prompt Vintage November

I came across a vintage car show a few weeks ago and this particular car brought back memories...

We actually had one of these when I was a little girl - The first motorway, the M1 was opened around 1959 connecting Leeds to London ... The North to the South
I can remember my father driving us all from Liverpool to London and boy was I sick... We probably made countless stops for my car sickness!

I don't remember the tray there for teacups but I do remember the awful smell the leather seats gave off in those days Lol!
We also came across these vintage fire engines ... Well before my time I might add!

Around 10 years ago in the month of November DH and I stayed in a 16th Century hotel in Palma for a short break ...

I've shared some of the photos of the wonderful entrance and staircase ... this is the bedroom

Very ornate vintage headboards and furniture

What will you share for our Vintage November prompt?

A Crazy Week and Goodbye BT!

Hello and welcome...
Phew what a week this has been...

Firstly, I would like to say a big "Thank You" to everyone who voted at The Muse where I got a Top 3 for my Poppies card and also to Brenda at Colour Me where I got an honourable mention for the same card... I'm so grateful!
And Thank so Darnell for letting me know... My internet has been playing up

I have a Christmas card to share that I made using one of the new papers from the beautiful Pinkfresh Studio (Christmas Wishes)... The papers are lovely and these are just my colours

I added some sparkle to the roof of each little house...

...sponged a small piece of CS and cut out the word 'joy' and then added Mod Podge dimensional to it

The leaf and the frame were in my 'bits' box

It's been a crazy week ... one when I've had good days and sick days... The blood tests are all back but I can't see a doctor until next week ...
On Wednesday the internet went down and I spent over 4 hours on the phone being passed from here to India and back again ... Can someone explain why it is that we have these automated phone messages that tell you if your internet is down to go to WWW.....blah...blah for help?? I mean if I could get onto the internet I wouldn't be phoning would I! Every call for help with the phone company is automated ... you get options to press a number ... the thing is they don't give you an option for a broken phone socket... what is a person to do ... after pressing buttons for ages you are right back where you started... Trying to get a real person is a nightmare and when I finally did I was passed on to 2 more people as no one knew what to do. At the moment we are with BT and we are shortly going to transfer to another company ... It complicates matters
Here's the thing ... On speaking to a real person at BT I was told it would cost me £129.99 for an engineer to come and look at the socket... £130 (Yes, a penny more) to move the socket!!**??!! But I don't want it moved, says me ... I want it replacing, there are broken wires hanging out of it which cause my connection to drop... well the engineers are 'movers' I'm told ... "well move it to the bin then", I say, "and give me a new socket"... well they might, I'm told... So how much will that cost? Not sure says the person on the line... In sheer frustration I say just send an engineer and I'll pay whatever... Unfortunately she doesn't know how to book an engineer and has to refer to the manual ... Whoa! wait... You are switching suppliers in 10 days so I can't give you an engineer (even though I am paying them right now for the supply)Why? says me ... because it takes 2 weeks for a BT engineer to come out and you won't be a customer then...
Yet the supplier we are moving to book the same BT engineers to sort problems ... And the new supplier CAN get a BT engineer to us within 24 hours... Does any of this make sense? NO!

It is the same with everything in this country... Nobody seems to have customer care and everyone is sorely lacking in common sense. Trying to get a phone number is a nightmare yet every scammer and cold caller in the world can get mine...
So for now I'm hoping that my connection does not go down again until next week when I have a new supplier... If you don't see me around here you'll know why.

I hope your week has been a better one than mine

Thanks for stopping by and lending an ear!
