A Birthday and a Thank You

Hello!

I'm just popping in with a couple of cards... First a birthday card for male friend who will be 81 in a few days

I used the 2 inks that were out on my desk, Cracked Pistachio and  Faded Jeans to make the BG

Along with some glitter foam and a couple of stamps

These cards are so quick and easy to make and lets face it, cards for men are never easy to come up with - I think they're just pleased that you remembered and took the trouble.

I also made a quick card from some of my bits to send to my husbands brother and SIL... They gave us a voucher for afternoon tea at a local place...

I can't say that either of us enjoyed it and it was very overpriced but the thought was lovely.

I'll be enclosing this of photo of hubby in their card...

I'm so happy that the temperatures have dropped a little here. It's lovely and sunny but not so oppressive and there is a breeze.

Well, Pat will be coming for lunch and to play in the craftroom for the rest of the afternoon so I'll love you and leave you

Have a great day!

Sandy Toes and Salty Kisses

Hello!
I didn't think I'd be posting again so soon but whilst the World Cup was on TV and England were rising to glory I had time to play.

My lovely friend Pat gave me some new word dies... One was "Beach"
which I used on my previous card and today I'm sharing a creation using another
"Salty Toes and Sandy Kisses"

This one I'm entering at Double D Challenges

You all know I love anything nautical and right now I'm dreaming of being at the beach with palm trees swaying and the gentle sound of waves lapping on the shore.... STOP!!!

Ok... I'm back on planet earth... And here's my card

Admittedly I couldn't easily post this even though those shells are tiny and anyway, I will be keeping it, probably to frame but I'm sure I'll make a few more for friends

The BG is done with my latest favourite inks... Cracked Pistachio and Faded Jeans and when I was splattering it with water I had a happy accident... I spilt the water (see, on the bottom) and I love the effect I got

The wreath was made using circle dies (I cut 3 lots to make it thicker) and then I set to work with a glue gun, some tulle, pieces of string, lots of tiny shells and some pearls.
The rope is a little too thick but it's all I had and the little boat I found amongst my stash.
I die cut the words a few times and glued them together to finish off.
It's been on my 'to make list' to do a large heart shaped wreath like this to hang on my wall... one day I'll get around to it...
Well that's it for now
Have a great day

Octopus

Yoo Hoo!
How are you all?

It's been an interesting week here with two stabbings in the area and one young man died..One stabbing was in the afternoon at our local stores just as my son was arriving to get some groceries!
Our neighbours have split up and he moved out leaving all kinds of rubbish on the driveway, but not before he collared my husband to give him all the details about the split -Poor hubby didn't know what to say...
Then there were hospital visits - Hubby for his eyes which are deteriorating and he may have to have more surgery. Me for my 6 month spine check - All is well as long as I don't sit for too long which is difficult when it's too hot to venture out... So yesterday hubby went to golf and I kept my head down and made a few cards.

Today's card is for the July challenge at

Another new technique for me and a fun card...

I used 2 distress inks mixed with water for the splash effect and that little octopus was in my 'bits box' just waiting for the right moment or should I say background

How I wish I were at the beach now splashing about... I tell you we are just not used to this weather.
The trees are all shedding their leaves because the ground is so dry, but Ginger cat is loving it and doesn't even want to come in at night.

I hope you have a beautiful weekend, Thanks so much for your visit

CAS Mix Up Card Challenge and Just Us Girls

Hello...
Did you have a good weekend? It was and still is, stinking hot here. I don't fare too well with heat as I've said, mostly because I can't sleep and that makes me good for nothing. Saturday I was near to tears... Anyway I decided to order one of those portable air cooling units that also offers some moist air and it arrived this morning. So far it's doing a good job!

Today I have a card that I'm entering at

And

I used alcohol Ink on parts of my die cuts...  I cut 2 of both the flower and the cup and hearts, one in white cardstock and one with the AI and fit them together... Then stamped and embossed the sentiment...

They were then arranged on a BG that I ink blended through a stencil.. Maybe a little busy for me but the cup kind of looked lost on a white BG.

I also want to take the opportunity to wish my lovely blog friend Darnell a belated Happy Birthday... So sorry I missed the actual day... My brain is fried!

I hope you all have a great day!

Till soon

A Tropical Storm

Good morning!
No... we're not having a tropical storm... Though it is positively tropical here and we could do with a storm believe me... Who ever thought that the NW of the UK would be hoping for rain?

The title really relates to my card today ... I played with some alcohol inks and pulled out a die sent to me by my dear friend Greta. The result made me think of a tropical storm... What do you think?

I layered up that lovely little lighthouse and ran it through my big shot in a brick embossing folder just to give it some texture and used the edging of one of the wavy die frames as a base

The word sentiment is a rubon... Rememeber them? I discovered a lot of them in one of my cupboards.. Honestly I really do need to find the time (and the inclination) to have a clear out

I think the best thing to do is not to go through anything just hand over all those boxes I never open  to Pat.. Otherwise it'll be "well maybe I'll use that..." Lol! And anyway, Pat will have so much fun going through everything.

I had a visit this week from my 2 brothers... One lives not to far away and we see each other regulary but the other one I don't get to see from one year to the next so it was a nice surprise for us all to be together.

I hope you all have a super day and a great weekend and before I go a big Thank You to the team at CAS Watercolour for the HM... Made my day!

Till soon

Club Projects and a Tutorial

Hello there...
It's boiling hot here and I'm not a fan... I don't venture out till after the sun has gone down. Mind you I only have to see the sun and I get a tan, so that's fortunate.

So... I've been working on more projects for Thursday Club and thought I'd share them with you
First up a card

Plenty of bits for them to stick and keep them occupied ... I cut and coloured 100 fish! I even printed a blue water effect on the acetate before cutting it.

For their second project of the evening I did another free standing light up creation to go with the lighthouses that they made - It could also be wall hung if you wanted just by adding some ribbon or string to the back.

These are so easy to make but a little time consuming when you have to prepare 25 plus your sample
You can use any graphic you like but for speed I printed a card I made awhile ago to use for the BG.

In case you want to make one of these here's how I did it

1. Take a piece of A4 card and cut it in half lengthways  - You can make 2 from one piece of A4. For my American friends you can do the same with your size cardstock... It will be slightly wider

2. Using just one of your lengths... score at ¾", 2 ¾, 3½, 5½ See below

3. Crease and fold all the score lines to make the base box and secure your candle in making sure the flame pokes out the top circle and you have access to the switch on the bottom throught the other circle.
4. Adhere the 1st fold to the upright with strong tape and attach your photo/graphic to the upright... Decorate as you wish.
If you make one I'd love to see it so let me know

Ok, that's it for now... I hope to catch up with you all soon

Have a great day
