Winter Wonderland

Good Morning!

I'm so glad it's Thursday... I had to have a colonoscopy yesterday and anyone who has gone through that or any of you nursing staff out there will know that there is a 2 day prep for this ... The first day I could only eat certain foods, the 2nd day no solid food at all and I had to drink 2 litres of cleansing fluid plus 2 more litres of clear fluid. My procedure was not until yesterday afternoon and I was so hungry but thankfully all was well...Yay!
I was so glad to be able to have my first cup of tea later that afternoon...

Not being able to go anywhere on Tuesday I stayed in my room and got out my watercolours and some stamps and made a few Winter Wonderland cards... Here's one

I used Gansai Tambi paints and stamped the trees whilst the card was damp using PTI Ripe Advocado ink

You can see I used Versamark and white E/P over the tress but only in certain areas. The stamp I used was a freebie from a magazine last year and it's a solid stamp so I didn't ink all of the stamp to emboss so I could still get some of the Ripe Advocado bleeding through

Once again I used ordinary CS ... This is my personal preferred method and it's more forgiving than watercolour paper... you can go back and add as long as you don't wet it too much. The colours are brighter too.

This is a second entry at Try It On Tuesday

I'll share some more of my watercolour Winter Wonderland cards with you in the next few days ... I hope you don't get bored of them

Enjoy your day and thanks for stopping by my blog

Hi Ros.....I do sympathise with you about the colonoscopy...not pleasant...and the prep is tedious to say the least...anyway glad you are out the other end (no pun intended..lol) and everything was hunky dory for you. :)
As for your card, well you know I love your work and this is no exception...loving those trees against your wonderful background. have a good weekend...nearly here! xx

Glad everything went well, Ros--no fun, but so worth it! This was my year & sure enough, had a pre-cancerous polyp this time, so moved up to every 5 years. I will NEVER get tired of your Winter Wonderland card--so, so beautiful! Looks like a scene from our mountains where the snow has begun to fall--yah! Warm hugs, Greta

Beautiful! Your partially embossed trees make the snowiness look all the more realistic. I'm still amazed that you can do this on regular cardstock and get your paints to blend without warping the paper. I love the whiteness of the paper. I know there is an ultra-white watercolor paper available, but I haven't tried it. Pssst... I've had a colonoscopy and can testify that the prep is worse than the procedure.

Glad everything went well with your colonoscopy! I had one several years ago. The prep is not fun at all! I have a sensitive digestive tract, so it affected me that way, too! But, I do so admire your card, Ros!! Such pretty water coloring and embossing on the trees! You achieved a fabulous effect...love!!

Congratulations on getting the good results, Ros, and for even having the test in the first place. Early diagnosis is critical with colon cancer so everyone needs to do it, no matter how uncomfortable the prep is! Because of my Crohn's Disease, I've had to have dozens of colonoscopies and every time I grumble that scientists can't come up with some more humane prep method, lol! And I can tell you that I don't pass the prep time creating absolutely breathtaking watercolor art like you do!!! I am beyond impressed! Hugs, Darnell

You sure got some great effects with your process. the embossing mutes the color perfectly to match your watercolor background. :-)

Gorgeous!! I love the pretty pines and the way you have layered them. You are tempting me to get my new pine tree stamps I have out, if only I had time...sigh!! Happy for you your test went well, I need to get one of this this year...ugh!!
