Shadow box card

Hello there...

Another week has just flashed by... Another hot one at that. Winter went straight into summer and last night at the club it was almost unbearable...
We made 25 lighthouses though (as in my previous post) and also this simple card to go with them.

As I had some bits left over, I thought it would be fun to make a shadow box card for my great niece Sophia who will be having a birthday soon.
I saw the video on Jennifer McGuire's blog Here. It's a super video and her cards are lovely... Do check it out

I wanted the inside to be a surprise so I just stencilled the front with balloons and here's the inside

I love that this folds flat to mail easily and knowing Sophia she will love that it's quirky and the front really doesn't give a clue to the inside...My brother (her Grandfather) asked me to make her a lighthouse too.

I'm still struggling following the ear infections, especially with my left ear - my hubby is totally deaf in his left ear so we make a fine pair!

Have a lovely weekend everyone

Till soon

Well hello Ros! Sorry I have been 'missing in action' so to speak but I have been working like crazy outside while I can (before it gets too hot). I love, love this fun card and the colors are so beautiful.....I am sure she will have a BIG smile when she sees the inside, but those balloons on the card front are gorgeous, too! Have a great day my friend, not too hot here today, cloudy, maybe rain but a perfect temp!!

Yes hot up my way too...The garden is looking good though and all weeded and tidy! Hope your landscaping/workmen etc have all finished in yours? The card to go with that creative lighthouse looks great Ross and really fun. Clever disguise on the front of the box for Sophia....Great inside of the box and laughed out loud....in a good way, of course...LOL x Sorry you are still struggling with the ear...That's been too long now x

Those balloons would be a fantastic birthday card all by themselves, but open it up and the surprise inside takes it over the top! Some of my all time favorite cards are the ones you've made with this stamp set. LOVE it! Hope you're feeling better. I'm not good with heat. I wilt.

I'm so glad the lighthouses went well, even if it was too hot. Your birthday card is fantastic, Ros! I love the idea of creating the front so it doesn't give away the inside surprise! I love the ink blended balloons and how they overlap with their colors, and those seagulls really do steal the show!

It's amazing! I like how you 'just stencilled ' the front - I'd have been so proud of just the front.

Playing catch up after being a VERY bad bloggie buddy. So sorry. I loved that tutorial from Jennifer and you used it perfectly for this super cute card Ros. Those gulls are a hoot!
