Red Balloons

Hello there... How are you?

Thank you all for your kind words and thoughts following the loss of my friend Jeanie... I cried a million tears at the funeral and a few days later DH and I took a trip to Cornwall to visit our Cornish cousins. It couldn't have been better... The sea, the rugged coastline and the sheer unspoiled beauty of Cornwall together with the love and laughter has helped restore me and I'm feeling good.

We sailed to the Scilly Isles as guests of cousin Peter who is captain of the ship that transports around 490 people plus cargo to the Isles on a daily basis. Many of the passengers took along their dogs... Honestly I have never seen so many dogs together and on a ship!
It's not a cruise ship by any means and boy did I get seasick once we hit the Atlantic. It was all worth it though as St Mary's, where we docked, is beautiful. I don't have any photos to share yet, they're all on my husbands phone but I'll get around to downloading them sometime.
Suffice to say we crammed in a lot in 5 days and had a wonderful time with our family.

I haven't had any time to craft since I got home but I do have a card to share that I made for a friend who celebrated his birthday at the end of May... His family threw a party for him in the garden - A small affair they said, just a few friends - There were 50 people! And it was freezing Lol!

The balloons were done using Distress Oxides and the baby wipe technique on glossy photo paper
I know I've said it before but I do love the results you get doing this

I haven't had time to visit your blogs either but hope to rectify that soon and also check out the new challenges I like to play along with...

It's good to be back...

Have a wonderful day and if you have any sunshine to spare could you please send it my way?

Till soon

~ Ros ~

Well hello there my missing friend lol!! The card is so pretty with those awesome balloons, I have yet to try this technique, but your cards makes me want to do so!! I am so glad you were able to get away and have yourself some 'me' time especially after losing your friend. We all need that sometimes! We do have some sunshine today and for tomorrow, but I can't send it as I am too greedy as it is the first day is hasn't been gloomy and doomy here lol!! But try and have a wonderful and creative day!!

So pleased your time away was a restorative after all the recent upsets Ros, and the Scilly Isles is somewhere I would love to go, though I think I would be flying as I don't much care for boats. This card is really beautiful and love the shiny look the balloons have using the photo paper and wiping with a baby wipe, and you have used that fun chicken which always makes me smile, and the die cut box and wonky stitched rectangle mat go well with this too. x

Hello, Ros. I'm glad you had a restorative trip to Cornwall (which sounds wonderful) and are feeling more like yourself again. These things take time. This is one very cute birthday card you're sharing today. That crazy chicken! If only I had some baby wipes I'd try this with my DOX. I'm not sure how it's different from using regular ink on glossy which means you wouldn't have any chalk residue to wipe away, but there must be something special 'cause people sure are loving it. Your balloons look pretty fantastic!

Oh, how wonderful that you were able to get away to enjoy beautiful scenery and family! A change of scenery and being with family can do the heart good! I think your card is too darn cute with the chicken. The balloons are gorgeous in color. I must give the technique a try. Take good care! I hope you can get some creative time for I always love seeing your beautiful creations! Hugs!!

The chicken is back! And I do agree: the balloons are wonderful - never knew what baby wipes were good for. Well, other than the obvious, I guess! The Scilly Isles ring a bell but I haven't quite figured it out yet. Glad to hear you had a good time, though, looking forward to the pictures!

Ros, so glad to hear you are doing better. Loosing a good friend is very difficult, but sounds like the trip to Cornwall is just what you needed. Love your card, the chicken is so cute! Very interesting effect using baby wipes and oxide inks, must give this a try. Take care,
