A Card & Cat and Mouse

Hello! How are you?

I haven't been very crafty lately but with good reason... It's been too bloomin' hot!! Jeez I haven't slept in ages and my brain is fried.
I know it's nowhere near as hot as some of you are experiencing, but we are just not equipped to deal with it. We don't have A/C... I would LOVE it but it seems we have to put holes in the walls for outlets and hubby says no! The heat doesn't affect him so I suffer, but not in silence haha!

Today, thankfully,  it has cooled considerably and it's comfortable so I finally made a card. You remember the card I made with the alcohol lifting technique? (here)... Well, in a video by the very clever Jennifer McGuire, she shared how you could stamp your 'lifted alcohol ink' onto cardstock and I did just that.... It didn't turn out too bad for a first attempt

It gives such a pretty subtle colour. The butterflies I added to this were stamped on a scrap of AI on acetate and then fussy cut.

I used one piece of 5x7 Yupo and so far I've made 3 cards from it and still have a little left to make another so that's not bad.

Cat & Mouse

As it's been so hot, we leave a door open to catch the breeze and allow the cats in and out - First thing Saturday morning DH and I were getting ready to go visit Stuart (DH's eldest) in Derbyshire when this little lady brought in very large mouse...

So proud of herself, she was just about halfway up the stairs when it squealed and I saw her...Of course I squealed and yelled (loudly) which caused Missy to dropped it and it ran down the stairs. I don't particularly like them but I hate to see them hurt and I'm not good at picking them up either. Thankfully Mikey rescued it and checked it over but it died ... from shock I guess.  Oh and just so you know... Hubby shut himself in the bedroom till it was all over, said he didn't hear me ... Yeh right! He's my hero Lol!

Have a fun day and take care... Thanks for popping by

I'm a little jealous of your Alcohol Lift Ink card Ros...I've had no success and here you've made 3 cards with one piece of Yupo paper and still have leftovers! But anyway, your card is GORGEOUS and I'm loving the butterflies on the acetate too! And funny cat and mouse story...I would have locked myself in a bedroom too! Haha! Stay cool! Hugs. :0)

What a lovely card - and cute cat picture! It's been unbearable here, too, we passed 40°C today but now it's cooler. It got widy and there was a rumbling in the clouds for hours but not a drop of rain fell.

Did you say not bad, well I say it's gorgeous Ros and I love the colours, and the added fence gives great dimension and leads your eye in to the beautiful foliage, and a great place to put your sentiment which is perfect on that piece of vellum, and the AI butterflies look fabulous. I actually don't get frightened by mice but not nice to have them in the house. Unfortunately they nearly always die of shock when this happens. x

Oh, Ros... first of all I have to say I laughed out loud at your mouse story! Your hero, heeheehee! Absolutely gorgeous card today! The colors are beautiful and the stamp -- love! Cute little fence and pretty butterflies. I've seen about your heat wave on the news. Way too hot for me! We don't have AC either because it's not usually hot here at all, so I'm glad we haven't had a heat wave yet. My hubby is not affected by it, either, so we're often at odds about the temperature.

Laughing at the mouse!...I would be shrieking, and as for your hubby...perhaps he should go to Specsavers...for a hearing test!..lol...Anyway I love this card...those beautiful colours and design.I must catch up with this technique. xx

A mouse...OMG I would of had a heart attack over that one, silly kitty (handsome too)!! another beautiful card in those gorgeous colors you are known for!! We have a window AC when we want it, it cools the front of the house but then my craft room is like an oven, so I haven't spent much time in here at all this summer only if I HAVE to. Plus we are on the road a lot it seems but home for two weeks right now and I am enjoying that as trying to play 'catch up' in the house....have a wonderful weekend end my friend!!

Ros, you mouse story made me laugh! I understand about having no ambition to make cards in the heat. I heard about the heat wave over in Europe, it's like our heat wave a few weeks ago. This weekend is hot again but not like it was in the mid 40's, it's in the upper 30's, hot but more bearable! One good thing is we do have air conditioning. Ros, your card is exquisite. Love the colours and love the outcome of the alcohol technique. The butterflies and fence finish this off wonderfully. Love everything about this! Hope your having a good weekend!

The stamped image with lifted inks is crisp, clear, and so beautiful, Ros! I love the colors and the acetate butterflies! Great job of fussy cutting.
Sorry for the heat wave... It's been really hot in Los Angeles, but we have at least A/C.
So funny about the cat & mouse story. Thanks for sharing! :-)

Gorgeous Alcohol Ink Lift garden scene, Ros. Love how you added the picket fence and the beautiful stamped and fussy cut Alcohol Ink butterflies.

I do not mind mice...outside, but inside....NO way! Glad Mikey came to your rescue:-) Hope you have more cooler days ahead. Hugs...Nancy

Gorgeous gorgeous card! LOVE the colors and the technique and the acetate! And EEEK! The cat and mouse story made me cringe! And my DH is just like yours! I'm constantly catching lizards my kitty brings in and letting them go free - usually without a tail though!

What a beautiful stamping you achieved from the alcohol lift ink! I love your acetate butterflies fluttering about and the blue and green garden fence! So sorry about the heat and the mouse! I never ask DH to kill spiders for me anymore. He brushes at them so as to not make a mark on the wall. Well, they brush off to who knows where and they are still alive! Gotta love our heroes!

Oh my goodness--what a funny story, Ros! I can't believe the wonderful lifted image you got! Now I've gotta try it!

OMG Ros! This image is simply stunning! I love the colours and the soft stamping effect you achieved. This technique is wonderful and you are tempting me to invest in alcohol inks and yupo paper when I promised myself that I have to use up my NBUS before any more purchases. I hope the cooler nights are helping you get some sleep.
Have a great weekend.
