Hello there...
So I decided to make a card for this months challenge at CAS Stencil
And it turned into a bit of a disaster...
Here's the card that I came up with, though I'm not that enamored with the result of the stenciling...
It's kind of fuzzy... Maybe because I just used ordinary cardstock
I used a couple of Vibez ink sprays which have a sort of sheen to them
The card is for hubby's DIL who is having a gall bladder operation today so I hope it will cheer her up a little.
So what happened was, I got out the sprays, card and stencil and as I was wearing a new white blouse, I took the precaution of placing the card with the stencil into a box before spraying.
Well the first spray was fine but the second one for some reason splattered right back at me and yep, all over my new blouse.
The thing is, I bought a blouse a few years ago that I really loved... over time of course it lost that whiteness being a delicate fabric and I was bummed. Then I saw the exact same one, brand new on Ebay a size bigger than I needed, but I bought it anyway thinking I could alter it. It hung in my room for about a month till I finally made the alterations and I was delighted with the result, then disaster.
I tried various things to get out the marks and some did fade but not all so that's the end of that.
Things happen
Before I go... Some of you have left comments and asked me questions... Unfortunately I'm unable to reply if you have 'noreply' on your blog so can you either change that status or please email me.
I hope your day is going well, thanks for stopping by
Till soon

Sorry to hear that in the making of the card you ruined your blouse, you must be gutted. Perhaps you could find another on E-Bay. I love the colours of the sprays, I think blue and purple is one of my most favourite combinations, and the added white foliage goes beautifully, and the gold embossed sentiment looks great too. This is sure to cheer up hubby's DIL after her gall bladder surgery. I had that about three years ago and if she is having keyhole she shouldn't feel too bad. I actually only spent about five hours in hospital and only had pain killers on the day of the surgery but perhaps I was really lucky. x
What pretty colours and the white against them look beautiful Ros x.
I think this technique looks fabulous and artsy and does not necessarily need straight edges but I do think it depends on the stencil you use x.
I do so hope DH operation went well and sending lots of hugs x.
So sorry about the blouse and after you taking precautions of using a spray box too.....You must be gutted x.
Yes I have had a few questions this week too with no reply bloggers and I feel awful not being able to reply x.
Meant to say DIL and Not DH xxxx
I can relate to the sprayback and now your blouse will be a smock for the next time! Sorry! LOVE this card and the FAB sheen!
Just love this card Ros, your spray/stenciling is gorgeous, love the two colours and then finished off with those beautiful die cuts and silver sentiment.. fabulous.....bit of a shame about the blouse - we need art smocks don't we- I always seem to be in a mess. Thanks for sharing with CAS Stencil, Robyn
Such a beautiful card, Ros! I love the white draping foliage that soften the lines of the tag. The sprays may look fuzzy to you, but I love the soft texture it created. So sorry about the blouse, and it's not like it came from a local store this time where you could easily get another one. Sorry for my inconsistent commenting, this summer is moving along so fast and the family schedule is crazy right now!
I'm sorry to hear about the disaster with the white blouse and sprays...how dis-heartening! But on the bright side, I think your card came out BEAUTIFUL!! I love the colors with all the white...really pops! And if it makes you feel any better, I ruined one of my favorite sleeveless tops in a pretty coral color just a month or so ago when I was splattering with some white paint, and apparently I got a little wild with the splattering and it ended up not only on my card but on my favorite top too! It didn't seem like a lot at the time and I waited (well, actually forgot!) a few days before washing and that was enough time for it to set in permanently and would not come out...grrrrr!! The life of a crafter is just really rough some days, isn't it?!! Sending happy thoughts your way my friend! Hugs. :0)
Sorry about your new blouse, Ros, but looks like it can now be your new art smock:-) Your card turned out beautifully. I am sure your hubby's DIL will love it! The sheen and colors against the white are so pretty. TFS and joining us at CAS Stencil. Hugs..Nancy
So sorry to hear about your blouse...I would be very upset, too!
I love all the shimmer and beautiful colors you chose for stenciling on your tags! Great idea to add the white sprigs, too...such a pretty card! Thanks so much for playing along with us at CAS Stencil!
Well I didn't agree that this card was a disaster at all (I love it) and then I went on to read about the blouse, which was indeed a disaster ~ and you'd even had it altered! My little friend, don't you have a craft apron or a smock? On the other hand, I do enjoy the fact that you are a risk taker! You took the risk and this time it became an "oops, shouldn't have done that!" moment! My pile of things under that title is VERY large, lol! About all you can do when it happens is find a comfy chair and have a drinky-poo!! Hugs, Darnell
I actually really like the fuzzy effect on the stencilling Ros - it gives a nice soft dreamy feel and looks wonderful in those colours. Love the CAS design too and I'm sure it will cheer the patient.
I'm sorry to hear about your blouse after you had gone to the trouble of altering it! If you have exhausted the attempts to rescue it, perhaps you can go the whole hog and spray it with more inks and stencils to produce one of your wonderful works of art???
Hope you are well.
Hugs
Carol x
I was sorry to hear that you ruined your blouse Ros, what a shame! Perhaps dying it might give it a new life? I love your card, the dotty look from the sparys is lovely, really pretty colours. Glad you played along with CAS Stencil this month, Cathy x
So sorry to hear about your white blouse disaster, Ros! Your card looks very lovely! Beautiful color and shine against the white! I hope your husband’s DIL has a speedy recovery from her surgery!
Another gorgeous card you have created!! Sorry to hear about your blouse, I have done things like that myself, like running an ink pen across the chest of my pale pink shirt...that I had JUST bought...hope your week goes better....take care my friend!!
Oh what a bummer--I would have cried! I really like the look of the sprays through the stencil--never think to use 2 shades like you did! The white die cuts are beautiful!
Beautiful card Ros. The spray through the stencil is so pretty in the difference colours you've used. I love that you've made it into a tag and added those pretty leafy die-cuts. Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Stencil.
The price of art today is a white blouse. Darn! I always wear my "grubs" into my studio for that very reason. It's so easy to have an accident. I hope you are able to find a product to get all the stains out. xx
I don't know what it looks like in real-life but the stenciling looks good on the screen - the 'fuzzy' look is soft and pretty. Sorry to hear about the blouse!!
Oh dear! so sorry about your blouse - there are no accidents until we are wearing something new or something white don't you think?! I do that with gardening sometimes - wear some good sneakers instead of old ones and get them all muddy and grass stained - I like the slightly fuzzy look of your spray stencil result - so pretty in the purple/blue with the lovely overlay of that interesting white die cut foliage - a beautiful CAS design! Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Stencil! xx
Maybe the fact that your blouse got ruined in the process had its share in you not really liking your card? I find the fuzziness quite appealing!
