Stencil and Sketching

Good morning my friends...

Well, we are more than halfway through September... The leaves are starting to fall and the darn squirrels have strewn acorns all over the garden.

I'm still trying to get some ideas for Christmas cards but it's just not happening. I'm probably the only one who is not a fan of Christmas. I like things simple and everything now is so commercialized. Give me an old fashioned Christmas when the smallest of gifts was a genuine kindness,  families enjoyed each other and whether they were religious or not, the meaning was never forgotten...

So, no Christmas cards to share but I do have a couple of cards using a Lavinia stencil and my own sketched flowers

It is so much easier to draw around paints than just sketch but I had a go

The mushrooms are also a Lavinia stamp which was on my desk so why not. Looking at this now I am thinking that maybe I could even try sketching into those pebble shapes. I might give that a go...

Both cards are similar but I think I prefer this one

What about you?

One thing I'll always love are my distress inks and stencils, how they can totally transform a plain piece of card into something pretty with very little effort.

I hope you are all well and safe, though I know some of you are struggling with  forest fires and have to stay indoors... What a year this has been

I hope these have brightened your day a little. Take care and thanks so much for your visit

Your cards sure did make me smile Ros. Fabulous sketching over the wonderful stencilled backgrounds x. Yes what a year it's been around the world x.

I think you should be designing stamps Ros as I thought those beautiful flowers were a stamp when I first looked, and the pebble shapes in the background look great and love the colours. I think you actually could have doodled into the pebble shapes, worth having a go I think. I don't love Christmas much these days either as our son lives in Sydney and consequently most Christmases are spent on our own, not that we mind but I always feel that it can become so complicated and just for a couple of days really. The twelve days of Christmas doesn't apply much nowadays. x

There you go again with your creative self! Your art with the stencil as a background is perfection. Don't know why for sure, but my favorite is the second one, too. Christmas... these days I do minimal decorating, shopping, and baking. I love the card making, though. Sending Christmas cards is a tradition I carry on from the old days. Hugs, Ros.

Oh Ros...these are both SO pretty! I love the colors in both and the silhouetted stamping over the stenciled background is just so striking! You do such lovely work my friend! And don't worry about your Christmas cards just yet...something will come to mind and they'll be just lovely! Hugs. :0)

Love these flowers that you have created Ros - Pat's right! Find someone to make these into stamps for you - they're beautiful.
Fab cards.
I am with you on Christmas - definitely not for me! x

Your posts always brighten my day, Ros! Love your colored "pebbles" and sketched flowers both with and without the mushrooms! The perfect Christmas card design will pop in your head. Your Christmas cards last year were awesome! I'll be CASEing them for this year. Already have some alcohol ink backgrounds ready to go.

Fantastic combination of your beautiful sketching and dreamy stenciling (gorgeous blend of colors), Ros! The black sentiment strips are a great accent, and the shine of the sequins is so pretty!

Two beautiful and creative stenciled and sketched card design with your hand drawn images, Ros. I think I like the 2nd card best because you have added the extra flowers. Wonderful sentiment flags on both your cards. TFS my friend. Love and Hugs....Nancy

Both cards are beautiful and the stenciling is a perfect background for your hand drawn flowers, you have such an artistic talent! I do love Christmas now as it has become 'simple' for us compared to past years where it was all about gifts and chaotic. My favorite is my beautifully lit tree at night, I love the pretty glow it gives off.

Gorgeous cards, Ros! Love the beautiful stenciling and pretty sketched flowers! Yes, I agree how Christmas can be so hurried without meaning and very commercialized. What I look forward to is spending time with friends and family and midnight church service singing Silent Night with candlelight...so special!

A whole lot of gorgeousness going on here Ros! Wow, wow, 2 more beautiful creations. Love the stenciling and your sketched florals. The little mushrooms are sweet. I love the black sentiment strip, just makes this pop, and makes me smile. My favourite is the second one, I think it's because of where the sentiment strip is. Regarding, both are stunning!

The backgrounds on both cards are breathtakingly beautiful and your sketched floewrs (and more) are just wonderful. I've been scrolling up and down to make up my mind which one I like more. I think I prefer the background in the first one but the sketching in the second...

Both cards are so pretty Ros. LOVE the stenciled backgrounds with the punches of colour and then your sketching done in black. Really beautifully designed cards. Always look forward to your posts! xx

You truly have found your art, my friend! Can't wait to see how you doodle into the pebble shapes of the stencil, but in the meantime I'm enjoying these 2 cards! Think the 2nd is my favorite, too. These flowers are really neat & so different from others you've drawn. I love Christmas & making the cards, but I agree about the commercialization ruining the spirit of the day. This year we won't even be able to see hubby's daughter & family, most likely. Guess it will be kinda old fashioned with just us at home maybe watching a movie & driving around town to see the lights--my favorite thing! Sending hugs to you, Greta
