Meet the Parents

Hello from a sunny but very cold Liverpool
It's so lovely to have sunshine and March is almost here, makes me happy.

I'm glad that you enjoyed meeting Eugene - Only a few days to go before the big day and his parents have arrived safely.

Claude

Claude worked for many years on the trawlers, he always preferred to be on the sea rather than in the air and now he's retired he loves a spot of fishing on the lake near their cabin, where this photo was taken

He's a strong outdoors type of man, quiet and laid back...

By contrast, his petite wife Julia talks non stop in a nervous kind of way

Eugene is her only child and she misses him dreadfully. She insisted on bringing the happy couple a gold balloon for luck, Claude knew it wouldn't survive the journey and he was right which sent Julia into a fit of tears halfway across the North Atlantic

As the tears dripped down her beak, Claude reminded her that she'd packed a whole heap of home baked treats (just in case the Air force wasn't feeding him properly) and they would be just as pleased with that, which seemed to console her...

Preparations are well under way and even the two girls who live on the hill have been helping, collecting greenery from the forest for decoration

Till soon my friends...

~ Ros ~

Oh my goodness Ros, I can't wait to hear the rest of the story! Claude is so handsome, and Julia - love those eyelashes, she is just the prettiest! Thank you for making me smile, your stories and drawings are so captivating! It's been sunny here the last few days as well, today hit a high of 7C and tomorrow it's suppose to reach 10C, then falls to 2C the rest of the week. It's nice to see the snow melting, I can't wait for Spring. Keep well my friend, hugs,

So lovely to meet Claude and Julia and see the scenery around their cabin, still a little chilly there with some snow still on the ground, and how kind of the pretty girls to help pick some greenery for decorations. I love the sweet paintings and fun story and you have made three wonderful cards Ros. x

I can tell by his cap that Claude is a seafaring man, retired now, but still in his blood. I'll bet that's a wonderful cabin by the lake. I like the strong, laid back type. On the other hand, Julia might drive me a little nutty, but I know she has a good heart. It's so sweet that the girls are helping to prepare. The big day draws nigh! Your cards and stories are something to look forward to, Ros. When I was a kid our family friend would come to the gradeschool and do "chalk talks". She had a large presentation size sketch book and she would flip the pages as she drew a bit at a time with her chalks. She'd tell the story and we watched it develop in the images. I was always enchanted. Your posts remind me of that. Thank you, Ros!

So happy to meet Claude and Julia! Wonderful scenery on your first card. How awesome that he is retired and enjoys his hobby of fishing on the lake. And, Julia! How pretty are her eyes! A beautiful scene, also, on your second card. Your last card is so sweet with the lovely girls gathering greenery! More amazing cards along with a delightful story! Thanks so much for keeping us all entertained and in smiles! Have a great week, hugs!!

Well I certainly can identify with talking non stop in a nervous kind of way. Is that a female trait? Monsieur Claude is a handsome fellow and I am so happy he is enjoying his retirement. Please tell him to stay away from those giant wind turbines that seem to kill a lot of birds!
Ros you make wonderful cards and I do so enjoy reading about Mr. and Mrs. Duck and their off spring!
Bisous,
Sandy xx

Loved meeting Claude and Julia. They remind me of my grandparents who immigrated to Coos Bay, Oregon USA in 1908 and 1910. They met in Coos Bay and were married in 1914. Grandpa was a quiet man who worked hard building up his river tugboat company and Grandma took care of the family of 4 kids and Talked a lot! She was an incredible baker. Her father owned a bakery in Norway. She also loved gardening. Loving your stories for bringing back your followers memories and your watercoloring paintings are amazing!!! So real and whimsical:-) Can't wait for your next chapter, dear friend. You need to publish a book:-) Love and Hugs...Nancy

Too cute for words! People receiving the cards have to read the blog, too, or else they'll miss (more than) half the fun!
