Slider Shaker & Shaker

Hello there, I hope this finds you well

I've a couple of cards for you today, first a slider / shaker card I made for one of hubby grandsons last week

I wanted to make something fun for his birthday and couldn't decide between a shaker and a slider so I combined the two

As the tag is pulled, up pops this guy

The octopus is sparkly and glossy but I think maybe I should have used a brighter colour, either way he enjoyed it and I had fun making it.

And following the sketched and painted girls in my last post... I also have one I turned into a shaker

Acetate cards are always so hard to photograph!

I'm getting a few Easter cards done at the moment... I can't believe how fast Easter has come around this year!

As far as my world goes, there's been good news and bad news this week... The bad news
A couple of weeks ago my brother fell whilst cleaning his conservatory roof (not recommended when in your 70's) He thought he'd just sprained his ankle and hobbled around for a few days until his leg began to swell and had to go to hospital. He was told he's broken his fibula, no big deal they said and just put it in a cast. Cutting a long story short things got worse and after several hospital visits and 2 changes of plaster casts, he finally got to see a doctor and it turned out his knee was also broken and has to have surgery this week.

As for the good news, my GP gave me a prescription for my RLS. I've been struggling every night with this dreaded complaint and have had many sleepless nights. Well I'm thrilled to say that the tablets worked and I've had 2 nights of undisturbed sleep! Oh I can't tell you how happy I am.

Have a beautiful day friends and stay well

What great cards, I love the octopus slider/shaker card. Very clever to combine the elements and very effective too. Your beautiful lady is only enhanced by those sparkly sequins. I am so glad you have been getting some sleep recently and I hope your brother is now on the road to recovery. I don't suppose he will climb the conservatory roof again in a hurry xx

Oh, my, love the shaker/slider card! The background is beautiful and the octopus is such a fun character with those big eyes. Your painted girlfriend is absolutely beautiful! Soft and sparkly at the same time. So lovely! I'm sorry about your brother, sheesh! He doesn't sound lucky, but at his age he's probably lucky he didn't do worse to himself with a fall like that. Great news about your RLS relief! I can relate and understand. Since I started with the trace minerals I've been so much better and hardly have a problem. I can actually sleep through the night and sit through a movie. It was bad. You needed something stronger. How wonderful to get a good night's sleep!

Wow Ros, two fantastic shaker cards and love the first with the pull tab to reveal that cute and adorable octopus with a wonderful colourful backgrund and the sequins for the shaker too, and finished with beautiful shiny stars and glittery number and sentiment. The second with one of your super stylish hand drawn and coloured ladies is even more glittery and pretty with the shaker element, and love the glittery dots on the balloons. So sorry to hear about your brother but good news on the RLS front with this new medication and I hope it continues to give you relief. x

Ros, I wasn't up for much commenting last week, but want you to know I adore your gorgeous, elegant girls! This lovely is the life of the party, and ready to shake her groove thing, isn't she?
LOve the octopus surprise in your grandson's card - how many times did he pull, and push? More than once for each of his years, I'd bet!
So sorry to hear about your brothers fall - hope the surgery goes well, and he'll finally find some relief!
What a difference a good nights sleep can make, right? So happy you've had a breakthrough with those meds!

So happy you are sleeping, Ros and yes I know what that feels like, both ways, some and none. So sorry about your brother, what a shock. Hope he will be on the mend soon. The cards are fun and beautiful as well. The slider shaker is so clever...love your artwork as well. As for my shot, not too much bother. I was more sore from sitting in the cramped car waiting for two hours! Am fearful of the second though...we will see! Take care and hugs to you! Continue your sleep quest!

Really not good news about your brother... rmeinded me of my father in his eighties when he felt the need to clean the gutters himself, couldn't wait another day when I was going to come for the weekend anyway. But I certainly hope all went wel with your brother's surgery.
The cards are stunning and the slider/shaker octopus must be one of my all-time favorites. The slider part must be behind the whole shaker construction?
