Hello there friends... I hope this finds you well
First off I am sorry that many of you are only just receiving the Christmas cards I sent out - I don't know what is going on with the mail, I sent everything out on time but I guess better late than never.
I haven't done much in the way of papercrafting but our cousin in Cornwall is retiring at the end of the month so I wanted to make him a card. He has spent most of his life on the sea and is Captain of the ship that services the Scily Isles. Now he has finally been able to purchase his own boat and is looking forward to enjoying sailing with his wife after what has been a very traumatic few years for them both.
So of course it has to be a nautical card
I used Versamark through a compass stencil onto navy pearlescent cardstock and embossed it in a mix of gold and silver - I missed some parts but I liked it that way and added a script stamp to it
I used distress inks to create a background for the little sailing boat (Wplus9) and added some gold/silver embossed waves using a versamark pen, then covered it with acetate and framed it.
I'm pleased with how it turned out even though I somehow managed to break my Bigshot, then again it has served me well for many years.
In my previous post I shared a photo of a top I made for my friend and I'm happy to say she was thrilled with it... And my husband was thrilled with the jumper she made him!
The photo is a little blurry I'm afraid. It was supposed to be a birthday present but I gave it to him as it's so cold.
Okay that's it for now, stay warm and stay well
Till soon,
~ Ros ~

This is really beautiful card for your cousin Ros and I love the compass stencil though which you have gold embossed..really great on the rich blue card, and your added sea scene with that wonderful yacht and background scene softened with the vellum over the top. It looks as though the embossed birds, boat and waves are added on the vellum, but maybe not. A great coordinating sentiment too. x
Sorry Ros, I forgot to say what a lovely jumper your friend made for your husband, it fits him really well and will keep the cold out. x
Fabulous card Ros...so apt and very classy.Love hubbies jumper. no wonder he is pleased with it! xx
Beautiful card Ros for your cousin, you did a fabulous job on creating this, love all your details. Your husband's jumper is also beautiful! This will for sure keep him warm on those cold days. Stay warm, keep well Ros, sending hugs,
That is a very special retirement card, I have no doubt that he will treasure it. I have had a message today that one of my Christmas cards sent on 6th December has only just arrived so you are not alone. I am not in the least surprised that your friend like the top you made, well done on getting the size right. Your husband looks very warm and cosy in his special jumper xx
Your card is FABULOUS Ros and I'm sure it is going to be very well received!! And your hubby looks mighty dashing in his new sweater...your friend is very talented with her knitting needles! Glad to hear she liked her top you made too! Hugs. :0)
Did you hear my jaw hit the floor?! The retirement card is an absolute treasure, Ros! Every single detail is perfect! Wow--your friend is an incredible knitter! Such a gorgeous sweater for your hubby & sweet of you to let him have it early! Freezing here with fog all day, so staying inside!
Beautiful card and wow look at that sweater ♥
Beautiful card.
Wow Ros, what an awesome retirement card it is, I struggle with masculine cards and this one is beyond perfect! Your hubby's
jumper is beautiful ( we call them sweaters here), I wish I could knit like that! Have a beautiful day, I am off for my mammo....ugh!
Oh my dear what a beautiful and PERFECT retirement card! You art work on the focus image is amazing and has so much feeling ... I just LOVE IT!! I wish them many years of good health out on the open waters where they can just relax!
WOW hubby's sweater is gorgeous ... she did an amazing job! And I had no doubt she would love the top you made for her ... it was absolutely awesome!
Please stay warm ... it's bitter cold here this week and we have LOTS and LOTS of snow on the ground this year! The past couple of winters we've had minimal snow fall .... well 2022 is making up for it! But luckily I have a large, self-propelled snow blower that makes clearing the driveway and sidewalks an easy task. I even pitch in and clear driveways for some of the neighbors who only have a shovel to work with. They send food/goodies to the house as a thank you ... lol that's always appreciated! Hugs and Happy Day to you & hubby!
What a unique, thoughtful and creative retirement card for your Cousin. Loving the stencilling and your peaceful and perfect sailboat little scene Ros x. Sorry about your bigshot and what a fabulous jumper for DH x.
Ros, this is a stunner! Your cousin the captain is sure to adore this special card - how could he not? It epitomizes his retirement dream! [you've reminded me of these wonderful sentiment stamps - technique Tuesday, right?]
Your husband is very handsome in his cozy new jumper - looks quite at home in your darling kitchen!
=]
What a gorgeous card, Ros! It is definitely a keepsake to remember his special day! The sweater your friend knit for your husband is gorgeous! And it looks so warm!
Great photo of Ian in his jumper, Ros! He matches your beautiful kitchen! And I love the special personalized retirement card you made for your Captain Cousin! The colors and design are perfectly nautical and I'm sure he will treasure it. Hugs, Darnell
Oh, what a fabulous card to celebrate your cousin’s retirement! A beautiful scene with the boat and beautiful stenciling! I’m sure he will appreciate it! Your husband looks awesome in the sweater! Your friend who knitted it for him is quite talented! My big shot broke on me, too, recently. I didn’t want to make the big purchase, but hubby convinced me to do so. Such a blessing that our hubbies support our crafting!!:)
Big hello Ros and first off I have to thank you for my Christmas card that has arrived today - I love it's originality - a snowman and toadstool just wonderful .. yes 6 weeks, but it will be on show with all my other cards until Easter something I do every year as I like to see those cards from family and friends instead of packing them away. Now - your retirement card is wonderful and perfect for your nautical friend AND your cable jumper for hubby is awesome, he does look cosy and warm... I so miss rugging up for winter. Have a wonderful week and thanks again, hugs Robyn
What a fabulous personalized retirement card, Ros! Your cousin, who is soon-to-be a boat owner, will love it. Your stenciled background is as beautiful as ever and I love it! Your husband looks awesome in the "cool" and warm jumper!
Hideko xx
Beautiful heat embossed nautical themed card for your cousin, Ros. He and his wife will love his card and can use it as a sweet reminder of you on their boat:-) LOVE Ian's Gorgeous and perfectly fit cable knit sweater by your friend. I noticed immediately how the well dressed Ian matched your kitchen, too:-) Happy to hear your friend loved the beautiful top you made her as a thank you also. TFS your wonderful sharing post, my friend. Love and Hugs...Nancy
What a lovely card, so much detail! And what a gorgeous jumper, he must be over the moon with it!
Absolute perfection as a retirement card, Ros! The compass stamp looks just as it should with the parts missing. Love the script stamped over top, too. Darling little sailboat with the misty mountains and golden ripples on the water. Of course your friend loved the top you made her and by the same token there's no way Ian could not love his hand knit sweater (jumper). Here in the US the term "jumper" conjures up a whole other picture -- either a dress with bib and straps worn with a top underneath, or a one piece pants/top outfit. The latter is a real bother when it comes time to use the ladies' room. Your kitchen looks cozy. Oh, and my doggy Christmas card is still sitting in a place of honor on my dining room table. Hugs!
Stunning card Ros. I love the compass background and the main image is just beautiful. I’m sure your friend will love and treasure the card - I know I would xx
