Words and Wisdom

Hello and good morning

Another week has flown by and once again it's time for a new word prompt at

This week Wendy chose the prompt for us ... which is
Words
We are sad to be saying goodbye to our lovely Wendy... This will be her last week with us, though I'm sure we will still see her join us whenever she can ... Sending you hugs and best wishes Wendy!

But it's Hello! To a new team member ... Robyn from Australia ...
Welcome Robyn!

Words are powerful don't you think?

A page from my little book called 'A Thousand Paths To Enlightenment'
It's full of Words of wisdom...

Edited using Picmonkey

My son when he was young he used to write me little notes all the time ...

I've kept them all ... Words that touch my heart ...

He also spoke Words of wisdom ...

I can remember one time when I was really down... someone I had once been close to now treated me with contempt ... It made me so sad ... My then 8 year old son asked me why I was so sad ... how do you explain to a child? I just told him that I didn't think (.... ) liked me anymore
My little boy put his arm around me and said "Mummy if (....) doesn't like you anymore then it's his problem ... not yours"
I have never forgotten his Words of wisdom and how much they have helped me cope when life gets tough

This prompt also caused me to remember something from way back when ...

Certificates I was awarded when I was a schoolgirl ... now yellow with age they were all about spoken Words ...

I wonder what you'll share with us this week at

We're looking forward to seeing your photos and the story behind them

Till soon, have a lovely day

Happy Birthday Sue!

Hello...
If I've got my date right tomorrow is the birthday of my sweet blog friend

Happy Birthday Sue!

This card will hopefully be at your home when you return from vacation

For the background I stamped white cardstock with 'Goosebumps' and did lots of sponging with various inks then added a few splashes of gelato paint to the front as well...

I delved into my box of odds and ends and scraps to to pull this together ... I wanted to capture a Spring feel to my card

I hope you like it Sue ... And I hope you have a wonderful birthday!

I'm entering this into the Mod Squad challenge

... which I came across thanks to my friend Darnell

Have a lovely day/evening

Till soon

Blossom

Hi there ...

It's been very wet these past few days ... But it makes the fresh new blooms even more vivid ...
I can't get enough of the blossom outside my window this year

Yesterday I played around with some inks ... stamping and sponging with nothing really in mind - I stamped a scrap of card with a bubble wrap stamp using a light spray of Goosebumps and then sponged it with lots of different inks but the piece was a little small to use on a card ... That's when I decided to make a plaque to remind me of the blossoms

I started with this wooden plaque

...and removed the letter and pins holding it ... then set about decorating it

This is how it ended up

You can see the piece of stamped and sponged card stock mounted onto a piece of dottie paper and overlaid with a small piece of acetate that I'd printed text onto

Now I know my blossoms are lilac coloured ... they started life as a piece of white Christmas snowflake vellum ... I punched out flowers and decided I'd sponge them too in purple ink ... the silver embossed snowflake design made for a great centre for my blossom

I shaped each flower and glued them to a small twig along with some ribbon leaves
Funny thing I found out about this vellum ... if it came into contact with any liquid i.e. baby wipe or wet glue ... it just curled right up ... took me quite a while to complete my blossom branch

Of course I had to add a sweet vellum butterfly and dressed it up with some wire antennae and bling beaded body with a slight curve

I'm going to enter this in the Eclectic Paperie challenge

It's about wood ... though I'm not sure if dressing it up like this counts but it looks lovely on my wall

I hope you're having a good start to the week ... I'm happy to say that I got a Terrific Top 3 over at the Shabby Tea Room for this card... Thank You ladies!

I'll be back tomorrow with a very special post for CCCB ... see you then

Take care

Our Beautiful World

Hello ...

Eggs ... is the prompt word this week for your photos at

Chosen for us by Kirsty...

Well it's nearly Easter and there are lots of the chocolate variety in the shops right now ...
more packaging than chocolate really ...

This week I just photographed what is in my home and played about a little with the editing ...

Fresh eggs (my favourite)

My easter bunny Yvette with her little egg

Eggs in sepia (Photoshop)

Eggs in black and white with a postal brush overlay (Photoshop)

The last 2 photos are of little plastic eggs in nests ... from the craft shop ... they kind of look real when
digitally enhanced don't they?

We're looking forward to seeing your interpretation of our prompt this week
Come and mingle with us at

Have a beautiful Sunday

Giving me Goosebumps

Happy Friday!!
Another week gone by ...

In between the usual household chores and some bread making yesterday I got a chance to play with some inks
I had a couple of butterflies left over from the project I showed you in my previous post and I discovered a bottle of Goosebumps in my cupboard ... I must have bought that over a year ago and never tried it ... well now I'm hooked!
It gives a lovely definition to stamped images ... I made a card for the challenge over at

This is my first time playing here ... and the challenge is to make your own background
Here's my card

The BGstamp I used is one my friend Keren gave to me ... from Indigo Blu I think... I sprayed it with Goosebumps, dabbed it a little and took a few Memento ink pads and started sponging

I then did the same with the butterflies which were originally just cut from the same plain white card stock ... This time I used a small flower and leaf stamp that was also hiding away ... unfortunately I don't know where it's from and to be honest it didn't look very interesting until I applied this technique

I'm really loving the bright colours lately ... it must be Spring lol!
I didn't think this card needed much more so all I added was a silvery branch and stamped a little text on the bottom right corner

I do hope you all have a great weekend ...
Thanks for stopping by

~ Ros ~
