Christmas card and Sponging Tip

Hello there...

This is probably my first Christmas card this year ... When I don't have any inspiration I tend to paint or sponge with ink pads onto scrap pieces of card and then I have them to use at a later date
Here's what I came up with

I find that different CS takes the ink in different ways and sometimes it's not very neat ... I'm no Laura Bassen when it comes to sponging!  I've found a solution for this... After I've sponged I spray the card with a little water and gently go over it with a baby wipe... It evens up the inks and leaves nice little water marks... I tend then to use white/ gold or silver paint to create little splatters... Works for me anyway....

The little deer is a die from Stampendous (Pop Up Forest) I have the stamps as well but I love the dramatic effect with a silhouette and if you're not confident colouring your images it's foolproof

To be honest this card was going to be a snow globe but I changed my mind... I like it just as it is, not too fussy... I glued down the deers feet and body but I used a foam pad to pop up his head, it just adds a little dimension, like he's looking at that star.
The sentiment was computer generated in case you wanted to know

Have a beautiful day and take care

Weather

Good morning lovely friends

I've chosen the word "Weather" as this week's prompt over at

Talking about the weather is a British pastime... Honestly, we strike up conversations with complete strangers at bus stops, train station, shops etc., with talk of the weather. We complain endlessly about it... It's so cold, it's too hot... It's too wet ...
Actually we are very fortunate, we don't have tornados, earthquakes or hurricanes... We have 4 seasons that perhaps are totally unbalanced but in my part of the country rain is probably more frequent than anything else

I remember when my son was only 2 ... I'd saved desperately for a little holiday with my Mum in a caravan near the sea ... there we were on the beach, the sky was black and we were in raincoats carrying umbrellas but having such fun haha!

It's nice to have a downpour when it's followed by sunshine

Then again we could have sunshine one day and wake to this the next day

I guess that's why our weather is such a talking point ... It's completely unpredictable!

CASing cards

Hi there

Yesterday my friend Pat came round to do some crafting... Sometimes we come up with a new card, other times Pat likes to CASe one of my cards and occasionally we trawl Pinterest to find some we can CASe together... The latter is what we did yesterday

First we were inspired by this card

from an amazing designer at MFT - Donna Mikasa

Here's our version ...

This is the only skyline die I had so we cut it a few times and layered it after first applying various ink pads and water to a piece of CS to create a colourful look

The second card we CASed is this card

by a super talented lady ... Maureen Merritt (WPlus9)
Fortunately I had the same stamp set by WPlus9 and here's our take

If you have never visited Donna or Maureen's blogs please click on the links and check out their lovely designs... I just know you'll love them as much as I do.

Thanks so much for your visit... Have a great day!

Dog Lover

Hello there...

Two of my dog loving friends friends celebrate birthdays this week so it was easier to make 2 cards more or less the same

The only difference is the colours

Both backgrounds were sponged in various inks, sprayed with water and splattered with white paint

The little pups were coloured with promarkers

Kinda cute don't you think?

Thanks so much for stopping by - enjoy your day / evening

City Crafter 282

Good morning friends!

It's time for a new challenge at City Crafter where we have Kirsty hosting for us this week
The challenge theme is
Scribble Doodle

"Make a card or project that includes scribble or doodling" Hop on over to the blog for full details

I scribbled some wonky lines to frame my shaker

For my shaker I sponged a background, adding some gold splats and stamped the grass. I made the shaker adding beads and sequins and the bird and branch (cut on my Cameo) was adhered on top of the acetate.

The sentiment stamp is from the Doodle Buds stamp set by Wplus 9 and it was just perfect for this challenge

Guest Designer this week is our winner from week 276 Theresa! Click the link on her name to go visit her lovely blog

Thanks so much for your visit - I hope you'll be inspired to join us at CCCB this week

Before I go I just want to wish my dear friend Pat a very Happy Birthday! I know she often pops in to my blog

Have a great day!

Edit ... I've just seen that the latest challenge from Colour Me is Pumpkin Pie!

So I'm going to enter this card there ... Well, it is kinda pumpkin coloured

Colours of October

Good morning!

It's time for a new word prompt at

This week the prompt has been chosen by Kirsty and it's
 Colours of October

I do hope you are not fed up with my garden shots... it's all I have for now

This time of year we usually associate with the colours of reds, golds and copper and I guess Halloween colours, black, orange, purple
Here in my part of the UK Autumn has been a tad late in arriving and surprisingly we still have a lot of flowers and greenery but some of the plants and trees are changing

They make for a beautiful display ... Even the dark ones

But one thing that isn't turning is last year's Christmas tree which I left in it's little pot

Fresh new green branches are appearing ... If we're lucky we'll be using it again this year - I wonder how long we'll be able to keep using this tree?

Link up your Colours of October with us at

Have a beautiful day
