Winter Wonderland

Good Morning!

I'm so glad it's Thursday... I had to have a colonoscopy yesterday and anyone who has gone through that or any of you nursing staff out there will know that there is a 2 day prep for this ... The first day I could only eat certain foods, the 2nd day no solid food at all and I had to drink 2 litres of cleansing fluid plus 2 more litres of clear fluid. My procedure was not until yesterday afternoon and I was so hungry but thankfully all was well...Yay!
I was so glad to be able to have my first cup of tea later that afternoon...

Not being able to go anywhere on Tuesday I stayed in my room and got out my watercolours and some stamps and made a few Winter Wonderland cards... Here's one

I used Gansai Tambi paints and stamped the trees whilst the card was damp using PTI Ripe Advocado ink

You can see I used Versamark and white E/P over the tress but only in certain areas. The stamp I used was a freebie from a magazine last year and it's a solid stamp so I didn't ink all of the stamp to emboss so I could still get some of the Ripe Advocado bleeding through

Once again I used ordinary CS ... This is my personal preferred method and it's more forgiving than watercolour paper... you can go back and add as long as you don't wet it too much. The colours are brighter too.

This is a second entry at Try It On Tuesday

I'll share some more of my watercolour Winter Wonderland cards with you in the next few days ... I hope you don't get bored of them

Enjoy your day and thanks for stopping by my blog

City Crafter 338

Hello!

Tuesday is upon us once again and it's time for a new challenge over at City Crafter
This week the lovely Stella has chosen our challenge and the theme is
Beach Colours For Christmas

I decided to make a bunch of my Christmas cards with paints and inks this year ... They come together so quickly and I really like making them. This time I smooshed distress stains onto CS and I blew across to get the streaks before splattering with Mr Huey's Calico mist.

I did two of them in similar colours ... This is the other one

I added a Tim Holtz tree cut in glitter foam and left the centre piece in, funnily enough my DH loves these cards and usually he doesn't say much at all

We have Danielle  Guest Designing with us again this week having also won our challenge in Week 332, please go visit the City Crafter Blog to see what Danielle and the rest of our team have to inspire you.

Thanks so much for your visit, have a great day

Strange

Good morning ...

I've picked the prompt today at  Our Beautiful World
The word is Strange

I'm really interested to see what you come up with... Here are a few things I found strange

Ok, so you may have encounter one of these ... A Praying Mantis. I had not! In fact I thought it was a leaf, those wings really look like the leaves that surrounded the wall (well, that's the point I guess) and that little guy obliged when I took his photo - See him looking straight at me and smiling?

DH told me he was dangerous and could sting me badly ... Of course DH was wrong and this strange little creature was not the least camera shy, he even did a little dance for me

Now you may wonder what is strange about this structure

Well I'm not quite sure what it is... A boat house? Somewhere to store fishing nets? That's what I thought, given that it was in a fishing port. What I found strange was the size of the green door and those little steps... You can see people in the photo - They certainly wouldn't fit through that door. So "who lives in house like this" Haha!

Nature creates strange sights and many wonders  ... I love to see the world 'wake up' the older you get the more you appreciate every new day that dawns.. When we are abroad I love to rise early and in particular take in the open sea...It's so peaceful and calming with just the odd fishing boat returning laden with the night's catch or a cruise ship sailing silently on the horizon. This last holiday the sun rose to my left and the view to my right was the blue sea

So how strange that one particular morning everything that should have been blue was bathed in a peachy pink glow

I grabbed my camera as I'd never see a sea so pretty

Strange but beautiful ...

Card and Tag

Hello and good morning...

Well, hubby is home and happy to be back except for the weather of course, which has been quite icy.
I enjoyed my 'me' time and doodle around with paint to make a few Christmas cards
Here's one of them with a matching tag

The little die cut is a new one from a place here in the UK called The Works...
We don't have much in the way of craft shops but lately this store has been adding a few stamps and dies to their range of books and art supplies and they are really inexpensive, so to my British friends- Check them out!

I'm not really a tag maker but I hate to waste any of the painted pieces and this little scrap made a really sweet tag

I thought I'd enter it at
Where Diane Jaquay is the featured artist - This is her lovely tag

I hope you have a lovely Saturday ...

Watercolour Card

Hello there

I've no idea where this week went ... I can't believe it's Thursday already. Hubby is due home early Saturday morning and it feels like he's only just gone!

I was going to catch up with friends this week but other than Pat and I getting together for our weekly craft time, that was it. It's been so cold and we've had really heavy rain, it even kept the cats in. They're like children and get frustrated being indoors so start chasing each other and then a spat ensues. It's crazy!

So yesterday, whilst Pat 'borrowed' a few of my card ideas and set to work on them, I pulled out my paints... Seems I have better results using ordinary CS and just 'playing' then when I'm using watercolour CS and really trying..

This was just a random piece, having painted the background I wanted to try stamping my trees first onto wet with ink to get the blurry effect and then once it was dry with Versamark and E/P.

I quite like the result of the ink flowing into the paint... What do you think?

I'm going to enter this at Try It On Tuesday

Where the theme is Trees

Whilst I've been writing this post Macy, the neighbours cat, made her usual visit for biscuits and would you believe that she and Missy had a fight through the glass! Man they're driving me nuts!

I really need to get out more Lol!

Wishing you a lovely day

Till soon

City Crafter 337

Good morning friends ...

Brrr! It's so cold here right now and the trees are quickly losing their leaves which means little shelter from the wind... Thankfully I don't have to go out and I can cosy up here in my little room

It's time for a new challenge at City Crafter and This week Kirsty has chosen the theme
Ebony and Ivory

The challenge is to create a project that features music related items ...Piano, keyboard, musical notes etc., Hop over to the blog for full details

I pulled out my Memory Box Musical notes die to cut a mask for my card along with a little bird I'd previously cut on my cameo

Then I blended inks over the masks and splattered a little water on top before peeling off the masks

I love how it reveals the white image beneath. The sentiment stamp is from Wplus9 and the leaves are a Clarity stamp

Our Guest Designer this week is Danielle winner of week 329 ... Hop on over to the City Crafter Blog to see what Danielle and the team have to inspire you this week ... As always the winner will be offered a Guest spot with us too.

Have a lovely day and thanks for your visit
