Speech Bubble

Hello and good morning!

This week at City Crafter we have our lovely Kirsty hosting for us with a great challenge

Kirsty wants us to use a speech bubble on our project

I actually downloaded a speech bubble from the internet to make my card and printed it straight onto my paper to make this card

I think it's the stripes in the paper that make it look dimensional

Being that I digitally added the speech bubble I also did the sentiment digitally too

We have the talented Lisette (Mrs Beez)Guesting with us this week ... Lisette won our challenge in week 202 with her wonderful creation and the winner of this challenge will also be offered a Guest spot with us so link up your projects ... If you're looking for inspiration hop over to the CCCB and check out all the projects from our team of designers.

I'm on my way to Lincoln today but I'll do my best to keep up with visiting you all whilst I'm away

Thanks so much for looking in on me and I hope you all have a great week

Keep safe

Oranges and Lemons....

Good morning!

How's your weekend going?

It's time for another word prompt over at

... And today Milagros has picked the prompt...
Fruit

I confess that I don't eat as much as I should ... and yet it always looks so colourful and inviting
Most of the fruit we buy is of course imported to the UK ... It's not till mid summer that home grown is ready ... We used to have fields here where you could pick your own strawberries and it was a favourite pastime ... especially for my son who ate as much as he picked
Now many of these fields have been redeveloped ...

But being a good girl - this has been part of my breakfast lately ... I love strawberries but I have to be careful ... some years ago I suffered kidney stones and it seems those tiny little seeds on the strawberries can be a contributory factor

My all time favourite has to be these

Raspberries ... delicious but very expensive here ... that tiny handful cost £2 so I usually make a rustic raspberry and lemon cheese cake with them ... you can find the recipe Here and though I don't have a photo of mine ... I can promise you that it looks exactly like the one on Susie's blog
I actually cook a lot ... and I often use fruit in my recipes ... even in my salads ... so these can always be found in my kitchen

They remind me of a game we played as little children whilst singing this nursery rhyme

"Oranges and lemons" say the bells of St. Clement's
"You owe me five farthings" say the bells of St. Martin's
"When will you pay me?" say the bells of Old Bailey
"When I grow rich" say the bells of Shoreditch
"When will that be?" say the bells of Stepney
"I do not know" say the great bells of Bow
"Here comes a candle to light you to bed
Here comes a chopper to chop off your head
Chip chop chip chop - the last man's dead."

You can read the origins of it Here ... It's about the bells in London and the executions that took place ... Not really what you'd expect for a nursery rhyme

I hope you'll link up with us this week at
We love seeing what you share with us

Have a beautiful Sunday ...

Unique

Hello
My it's so very windy here today... It's been holding off the rain - We had rain yesterday and through the night and now it looks as though we are about to get another downpour...

I had a few of those feathers I made still sitting on my desk so I made a fairly quick and simple card using a sketch from
which I recently came across

This is the sketch

... And this is my card

I'm not a good fussy cutter so please don't look too closely at the word Unique ... But in order not to hide that smaller feather I had to fussy cut

I know I've posted a lot lately but I'm away next week so I'll be much quieter ... It'll just be a squeak

Before I want to give a BIG shout out to

Not only are they a UK based company stocking stamps and dies from the USA (Yay!) and at a decent price ... and decent shipping costs ... But their service is next to none!
I ordered yesterday (after seeing my friend Keren's creations) and my order arrived this morning!!

Well done to Tara ... I'll definitely be ordering again

Ok ... gotta go

Have a wonderful day and thanks so much for stopping by

Butterfly Kisses

Hello!

I'm cramming in as much crafting time as I can before I head off to Lincoln next week so I'll keep this short and sweet ...
I have a card to share that I made for this week's challenge at

Here's the cue card

I used stamps I've had for a long time but somehow never inked them up

I never felt confident using stamps at one time ... I'd buy them after seeing your lovely creations ... then just forget about them ... like these stamps from a set by Marion Emberson Designs

I used just 2 inks, black Versa fine ink and Memento Pear Tart and I love how pretty that dandelion looks ... So I'm going to have to use this set more!

Why not hop over to CAS.ology and take a look at the lovely creations from the team

Have a beautiful day everyone

Bird and Feather

Hi there!

I've had a good week! I was up with the winners again this week at
The Mod Squad Challenge I'm so happy and very grateful ... Thanks so much!

I haven't made a card yet for this week's challenge but I do have a card to share

I came across Lia Griffiths DIY paper feathers yesterday and thought I give them a try as I don't have any feather stamps or dies ...

Here's what I came up with...

I cut my feather from paper by MME and the background paper is from Me and My Big Ideas - I stamped script and ink splats for more effect

When I first went to high school - many moons ago - we had these awful plastic pens with a nib and there were inkwells in the old wooden desks ... It was impossible to be neat ... the ink would splat everywhere!

Emails and texts are fine ... but I love an old fashioned letter and that's what my card is really about

As I have a little bird as well as a feather on my card, it fits the challenge at

So that's where I'll be entering this

I hope you have a lovely day ... the sun is shining here

Till soon, take care and thanks so much for visiting me

Watercolour Splats

Hello ...

I'm finally feeling a lot better ... which is a good thing as I'm off to Lincoln next week to care for my Aunt and I can't risk passing on anything to her...
Thanks so much for your kind wishes ... it really does help well you are not feeling 100%...
Plus, I got an Honorable Mention for my card at CAS.ology this week too ...
Thank you so much ladies!

So, yesterday I saw the wonderful Make It Monday watercolour splats technique by Nichole Heady of PTI Here
I just couldn't wait to try this technique ... I'm loving paints at the moment
And here's my attempt

To link up you need to use at least one product from Papertrey Ink (and of course use the technique)
I used the clock hands die from Hands of Time ... I know ... I use them a lot

Then I stamped and embossed a sentiment using stamps from 2 different PTI sets
Time from the Hands of Time stamp set and the verse from the Life stamp set ... I thought they went together well

I absolutely love how this turned out and I found my aqua brush pen worked a treat for this technique

Wishing you all a lovely day ... Thanks so much for visiting me and leaving your kind comments

Till soon

Paint It

Hello and good morning!

It's time for another challenge at City Crafter and this week I am your host
The theme is Paint It

The challenge to you is to
Make a card or project that includes a painted backgound
You can use any sort of medium, Paint, watercolour, mists, distress stains
As long as your background is "painted"

I had a little fun with some acrylic paint

and a glass tumbler

This was a card for a friend of mine who happens to be an artist and sculptor
I'm happy to say that she loved this random painting and framed my card!

Somedays it's just nice to get messy and see what turns out ... there's no mistakes in art I always say

This week at CCCB we have the talented Natalia guesting for us ... Be sure to click on the link and visit her blog ... she creates the most stunning projects
And don't forget to hop over to CCCB and see what the rest of the DT have in store for you ...

I do hope you'll get 'artsy' with us this week and join in the challenge ...
Have a great day!

Till soon

Bright and Cheerful

Hello there!

I hope you all had a lovely Easter ... We caught up with my brother and SIL on Saturday and my DH went to the match yesterday leaving me to rest ... To be honest I still wasn't feeling well

For a while I've been making cards using up little bits of left over card and things I have laying around ... little bits of card are great for stamping, sponging etc., or just trying out an idea
Here's one that I made to send to the winner of my blog candy following the CCCB celebrations

I used a stencil with some modelling paste on a scrap of card and when it was dry I sponged the whole thing with different inks

The tiny tag was reclaimed from a shop bought card, and the main card was one I had embossed some time ago and then never used

I like the texture with the plain card sandwiched between and I'm enjoying using up bits of card and experimenting with different techniques

A little birdie told me there's a challenge going on over at the Ribbon Girl

which is to use yellow/Lemon so I'll be entering this card over there

Ok, I'm off to grab some tea now so have a lovely day and I'll be back tomorrow

Stay safe

~ Ros ~

Happy Easter and Transport

Happy Easter to you!!

A wonderful time of year that signifies New Beginnings

On this beautiful sunday morning we have a new word prompt at

I got to pick the prompt this week which is

Transport

I'm not sure why I picked that word ... I guess I'm just curious as to the different forms of transport around our world and maybe what your preference is ...

... I enjoy seeing the world through your eyes ... places and cultures I will never know first hand
Perhaps you like to travel leisurely along the canals

... or maybe you prefer something a little bigger

The freedom of the open sea ...

It could be that you harbour a love of classic vintage travel ...

Open roads and glorious countryside

A little off - roading ... Oops!

Or a four legged friend

Whether it's trains ...

... or planes

We'd love you to share with us at

Have a blessed Easter and a beautiful day

Watercolour Stamping

Hey there ... How are you?

I'm feeling sorry for myself ... I've caught a cold from my son and I feel quite rotten right now plus Gipsy cat has had me up since 5am ...
My DH has had to go to the heart hospital for tests and being full of cold I couldn't be with him ... sigh

So much as I want to ... I haven't been up to creating but I did do a card yesterday ... practising stamping with watercolours

Just Us Girls have a Watercolour challenge this week

So this is my little contribution

I used Gelatos on my stamp and then sprayed it with water to get my background

The flowers and clock hands were on my desk so I added them to compliment the colours

and cut the "hello" using a PTI die

Thanks so much for stopping by ... I'm off to get some tea so I wish you all a lovely day

~ Ros ~
