Paint and Sketching

Hello friends... How are you all?

I've been following the news and  if Covid wasn't enough some of you are now enduring forest fires, storms and hurricanes...  I am so sorry and hope that you and your families are safe.

It's about time I did some blogging and shared some new cards with you. I had a visit from my brother at the end of last week, we hadn't seen each other since probably January so you can imagine how good it was and it was followed up with another visit yesterday with his granddaughter Sophie tagging along. She has been desperate to visit me so we were pretty careful and had a fun day making a sock sheep and she had me laughing till I cried. Needless to say I am pretty tired today.

So here are a couple of cards I did recently

This one was pretty simple and I like the colour combination

My fineliners are running out and I was checking all my pens to see what worked best till the new ones come. Working on cardstock as opposed to watercolour card makes a big difference... The pens need to be a lot finer with card and I discovered an ordinary biro worked perfectly here

...with random paint streaks and some sparkly gold paint.

For this I  randomly put down some paint blobs and then sketched over them

The frame was cut from painted card splattered with gold sparkle which really doesn't show up here as we are sorely lacking in sunshine

I hope you like them.

Be safe and thanks so much for visiting me... Hopefully I will share more cards this week

Both these cards are so creative and beautiful Ros. I love those streaks of colour and a streak of gold for the first card's background. The colours are so beautiful. And of course, your drawing is fantastic. I am loving mushrooms so much since you started drawing them and have purchased some stamps. :) Love the second card with the gorgeous colours frame and soft, peaceful scene. Your blobs of colour turned in fantastic flowers. :) Stay safe and well. xx

Yes I like that colour combo on the top card -beautiful line drawing. What a great floral scene in the second and the way you did the frame is very effective.

You're so creative, my friend! Love the painted stripes for the first card & the gorgeous blue with gold for the second! How wonderful to have some time with your brother & Sophie! We finally saw hubby's daughter & SIL at a big rest stop where we could easily keep our distance. It had been 10 mo since I saw them & 8 for him. Feeling so blessed not to have any terrible weather here--just hotter than I like. Sending hugs, Greta

Oh, my heart! Beautiful art turned into beautiful cards! I love the die impression on white, too. Those visits were good for your soul, especially the laughing. It's very good to laugh.

Two very pretty cards and love the flowers and toadstools Ros and the streaks of watercolour in the background are lovely, and the second with the blue toned flowers and the rockery looks great with the image placed over the edge of that beautiful gold spattered blue frame. I'm glad you have enjoyed some visits from your brother and then with his granddaughter who obviously kept you entertained. It is difficult to be totally without other company, and although hubby does his best, I have had contact with no-one else but him in the last 10 days, although I have spoken quite a few times to our son using Skype as he is in Australia which is so good. I just long for things to get back to normal but know that is not happening any time soon. x

wonderful hand drawn images Ros, I think my favourites are the blues but that's purely the colour :)

And to think of all of the stamps you purchased when you are such a fine artist! LOVE these cards and the colors on both! So SAD we didn't make it to the UK this year - maybe 2021 is the year I get to meet you, my friend!

Your cards are just beautiful and SO inspiring! I LOVE your style! What fun that you were able to finally spend some time with family. Difficult times we are going through right now. Next week will be fun for me ... I have daughter, grandson & great grandson's birthdays all in a row ... Sept 3, 5 & 7 (and grandson's girlfriend's birthday is on the 6th). Since it's Great Grandson's 1st birthday there will be a small family gathering for him on the 6th ... going to be fun to see everyone again but sadly without the usual hugs. There will be a lot of Air Hugging going on though lol. Thanks for always inspiring me with your beautiful designs ... simply amazing to me! Take care & stay healthy!

Extraordinary cards, Ros! LOve the wash-y strips of color over your lovely mushrooms so very much.
I recently started watching videos on YouTube of a water color artist who doodles over blobs of color! She's amazing, and so are you!

So good to hear that you have had visitors and such a good time with them. I have had quite a few here and am now happy to see the wave ebb... I really need a break. Again, your cards are just wonderful, especially the second one, how the image "falls" out of the frame.

Do I like them you ask? I love them Ros. Your creativity and eye for detail shines through in every one of your cards. Beautiful colour combinations and to think on your last card you created flowers out of paint blobs - amazing! So glad you had a wonderful visit with your brother and great niece, laughter is good for the soul! Off to check out your newest post, sorry fallen behind this week. Hugs,

Glad to hear that you got to see your family members in person! I miss seeing my sister and nieces.
Both cards are fabulous and your pen-drawing is wonderful, Ros! Love the beautiful wash-like streaks, especially the light and warm color combo!
The blue frame with the gold paint shows off your beautiful flowers. How can you put down some paint blobs first and then sketch over them this perfectly!? Amazing!
